my co-workers brought me flowers and a cake.
i was also able to anti-witness to them about the jw's.
it feels good sharing with others the real reasons why i never celebrated my b-day.

I had a 1st Birthday from my co-workers a few years ago.
Afterwards, one of my co-workers came up to me to ask a few questions. During our conversation, he told me about a uncle that became one of JW's and that once he joined he didn't have much of a relationship with the rest of the family. Then later killed himself. The family could never figure out what happened. He asked me if there could have been a connection.

i never had to think about what a massive predicament it is to be watching your 6 month old alone and having a massive dump come along that you know is going to take 10-15 minutes...especially if your child is being really fussy.. -sab.

I thought of another thing. My son had an endless need for batteries for his hand held games.
One evening he came into my bedroom and asked if I had any double A batteries. I said, "Sorry but no."
He looked at me for a few seconds and then said, "Are you lieing to me?" I said, "no"
he said,. "what about the batteries in your light saber in the drawer next to your bed..... If you don't play with it any more, can I have it?"
I said "sorry but no."

so, most here probably think i'm depressed all the time,which isn't true.. but, i had a long distance romance, and now he doesn't even respond to my e-mails.

but when i look in the volume library, the word doesn't come up.
i was wondering if anyone ever heard mention of it in the literature--as in, was it an official position?.

I heard the story in the early to mid 80's. I went to an elder to ask if it was true, because my children loved the smurfs. He said not to worry about it until an article or a talk was given about them. There was no articles or talks.
There are several interesting urban legends I've heard since being here. One is the number of people that weren't allowed to eat Lucky Charms cereal. Cereal..for crying out loud.
I only heard about the smurfs on the forums, but there was the urban legend about the two sisters visiting a serial killer, who left them alone, because he has seen two big and muscular guys behind the sisters - the angels accompanying them in FS. This is doing the rounds here in eastern Europe, and as I read on this forum, in US too.
My husband heard this story as a kid, he was raised as a Baptist (was never a JW) and it was a older chruch Brother that was preaching that this happened to back in the 40's.
