Read what happened in court June 19th & 20th. A summary copied from court documents
by AndersonsInfo inif i understand the documents correctly, the judge's decision froze all watchtower's real property ($1 billion) pending further notice.

Guys, be ready for any JW weirdness you might encounter. Some will surely take this as a disaster (I'm not too sure if it really is all that disastrous myself, it could just be an inconvenience) and go into Armageddon mode.

dis-associated/disfellowshipped - are they the same?
by Caedes indo you have to formally dis-associate to count as such?
there seems to be a lot who are hounded to make a formal declaration to a judicial committee.. so my questions are (i would be very interested in references from the wt cdrom) - what is the official stance on those who simply stop going to meetings, do they count as disassociated by their actions?
should they be treated the same as those who are dis-fellowshipped?

Bear in mind that being inactive may still get you shunned as a bad associate. It's started happening to me in recent years. Of course, it may also be because I told one of my in-laws I was an atheist. She may have spread the word. Very hypocritical since she told me she would not do that, but also quite typical.

Awful, horrible: still no official WTBTS statement about the child abuse case
by Gorbatchov inhow awful, how un-christian beheavior, how horrible for believers with a conciense.
the wtbts, the corporations, the pr staff in brooklyn / patterson gave no official comment about the child abuse case.. only the lawyer of the "local congregation" gave some remarks.. humiliating for the victims and also for fellow believers with a conciense and good hart.
they only can questioning why the wtbts is hiding..

Anything they say could work against the appeal process. It they apologize, they admit they did it. If they deny any wrongdoing, they only fuel the flames of anger. It would also keep the pedophilia problem in the public eye that much longer.

If it's that good, please someone download it before it gets taken down. :)

Perfection........
by criticalwitness inwhat exactly is perfection?
for instance jesus had to learn things like being a carpenter learning how to read with learning comes mistakes.
if put him on a golf coarse he would not auttomatically sink a hole in one everytime.

When I was a JW, I sort of took it to mean that we would be returned to whatever God's original design specs were. We would be more like Adam and Eve. But now I realize that this sort of begs the question. OK, so what exactly was different about them? I can't try to answer that without cheesing off any Bible believers in the room, though. :-)

What Some Loyal JW's Are Saying About The Oakland Case.
by Bangalore inform the pro-jw site jwtalk.
this is such a ronald mcdonald court case.
i can't believe what i am reading.. lie: "the lawsuit alleged that watchtower had a policy that instructed elders in its jehovah's witnesses congregations to keep reports of child sex abusers within the religious group secret to avoid lawsuits.".

At least this person acknowledged that real harm was done to someone, even if their other comments are typically paranoid. I have a picture of another conversation on FB at my site. The article is at http://www.atheistgeeknews.com/update-on-sexual-abuse-case-in-california-2655.htm and the picture is at the bottom if anyone wants to see it.

Alameda Court Award: Nothing Yet In The Mainstream Media?
by Room 215 inare they asleep at the switch, or are we?

Yes, we should really try to raise awareness with this. Please guys, try emailing big online new services to raise awareness. It could find it's way into the real media if we do.
Bear in mind that if people start wondering about this, and the Society's many other pedophile cases, the media may start to wonder about its other practices as well.

An elder told me that his son rented a copy of "Eddie and the Cruisers." That night, he said his son saw a man who looked like Eddie from the movie walk into his bedroom. Then WT literature started flying across the room. His point was that the literature was not a talisman against demons.
Good call.

Here's one I heard in field service: the angels from the Bible were actually robots made by aliens. The householder thought the angels had feelings, but the demons were older, inferior models made without emotions. This guy thought the Bible was some sort of alien alegory.
