  Help with irrefutable arguments- creating dissonance

  hello- i'm arguing with my parents now... well, call it debating.

  i'm trying to give them a question they'll actually think about- something that will make them want to do more research.

  a question (or questions), that if right, will make them reconsider whether they are in the "truth".... .

  You have to get past the antivirus. The Witness mind has antivirus and firewall to deflect the obvious attacks. Just as a "trojan" gets in to a computer because the user allows it believing there is no threat, the same is for the Witness mind.

  For years I know that I would have ignored your irrefutable arguments.

  This video made me think. I was researching the religion of a new call I had out in service. I didn't perceive the danger to my own faith, but after watching it, the damage was done, I saw way too many similarities and my mind was ready to learn more. Perhaps this approach will be of assistance to you.

  Does it make a difference if you are kind to a witness?

  just a hypothetical question.

  suppose you meet someone who happens to be a jehovah's witness.

  suppose you get to know how he/she lives, and, though you understand you can't do much for the person, you still show you care.

  At the very least, it plants seeds.

  For my own experience, my logical mind saw people other than witnesses acting like Christians, I would have to convince myself why they still deserved to be destroyed at Armageddon. Observing enough people who are not JW's living their faith over time can aid in tumbling down the walls of the Watchtower.

  Wireless Microphone Ban & JWs

  on june 12th in the u.s. the fcc banned wireless equipment that operates in the 700 mhz band.

  churches and other groups had to switch their wireless systems to make room for emergency services.. have the khs in the u.s. made these changes or are they still using 700 mhz wireless systems?

  are they outlaws or complying with caesar's law?

  amnesiano: in the upper right corner next to your name is an envelope, click on that, that takes you to your inbox, click on the message, ususally the first time you open it it does not appear properly, go back and open it a second time, it magically appears :)

  Has the org changed their position on associating with non-JW family?

  it would take too long to explain how this conversation came about, but my jw sister recently told me that the organization now teaches that you can (she even suggested that you "should") have a relationship with family members who are not jw.

  she didn't specify whether they meant family who were never jws to begin with, or what, but in the context of the conversation we were talking about family members raised as jws but then left (not disfellowshipped or formally disassociated ... just left).. she said they even had a talk about it at the convention this summer, and had an experience of someone who reconnected with family after 10 years.

  she said they said you should have a relationship with them, even if they never become witnesses.

  Its really all about witnessing to them in non-confrontational ways, letting them know you care, love them, and not trying to push religion, to open doors and win them over with reasonableness.

  Question about Bethel post 1980

  since i have finished reading coc as well articles from randy during the purge at bethel around 1980, i was wondering what kind of changes were made if any to try and prevent such independent thinking or study .... also, i can't help but wonder if the organization makes gb members and/or others sign some kind of non-disclosure agreements to prevent repeats of tell alls from bethelites and higher-ups.. any thoughts or information about this?.
