Two questions: 1) what was the announcement about paperback Bibles and 2) what was the video posted earlier, I think it was something about blood - plus a third thing they mentioned in the meeting
by slimboyfat in1) i am listening to the meeting on the phone right now.
during the announcements they said there is a letter about paperback bibles and if you want to know what it says you need to read it on the notice board.
i can't read it on the notice board because i'm not there!

Greetings!
by Merkaba ini am a twenty-eight year old ex-witness.
at the age of fifteen i had developed an alcohol and drug problem mainly due to my dysfunctional upbringing.
my parents were divorced at a young age causing my mother to run to the witnesses for emotional support and fellowship during a trying time.

New Apostate here
by skitt ini did not know where to start, but figured the personal experience section was a good place to begin.
won't bore you with all the particulars today....but i was raised in "it" (wont call it the truth, cause it ain't) from about 1968. baptized in 1985, faded about 2001.....woke up from the insanity after reading ray franz forbidden book a few years ago(crisis).
only sorry i did not read it earlier....but there was that fear factor instilled in me.

Do you believe the "Conscious Class" will be saved? (CHRISTIANS ONLY)
by brotherdan inthere are thousands of people sill trapped in the organization that realize that it cannot be what it claims to be: god's only true organization.
but do you think that these ones that still believe in christ and his crucifixtion will still be saved?
after all, salvation does not come from an organization.

Think About It - I was not thinking on the trinity line, no way am I jumping into religion, I currently have one that I desire to be free from, not looking for another, I do have faith though

brotherdan, I think we have a lot in common. You should come over for a barbecue, drink a few beers.

My opinion ... like it or not ... take it or leave it ...
Don't split hairs. Isn't that what the Watchtower does? Is Jesus God? Some verses would lead me to think he could be others that he can't be. His relationship with the Father is clearly unique, one we perhaps can't fully grasp. His origin is divine (John 1:1). But to say that the Bible is clear I think would be insisting on something that may not be knowable as a certainty without part of the decision being based on faith. (of course it is all based on faith, I mean considering the Bible as fact, filling in the rest with faith)

brotherdan ... this is a tough question for me too.
Scriptures that used to mean one thing to me take on a very different meaning now.
Blind man following a blind guide.
"Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for YOU yourselves do not go in, neither do YOU permit those on their way in to go in..
For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a young wife against her mother-in-law. Indeed, a man's enemies will be persons of his own household. He that has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and he that has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me.
Get out of her my people if you do not want to share in her sins.
Scriptures like these make me wonder. As an active witness, preaching, giving the appearance to others that you go along with the teaching, would one not be a hypocrite like the Pharisees?

YOU KNOW IT'S THE TRUTH BECAUSE, THE WATCHTOWER TELLS YOU IT IS
by elm inthe study editionof the watchtower for september 15th 2010, p13 states "similarly today, a governing body composed of spirit-anointed christians contributes to the unity of the worldwide congregation.
the governing body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages.
this spiritual food is based on god's word.

Welcome elm.
You were ready to go back so recently, when you meet with the elder(s) be careful of the double talk. As Witnesses, you know we can get to become masters of reasoning in ways that confuses the mind. I suggest if you haven't checked out the websites in depth that were recommended to do that.
Especially establishing to yourself the impossibility of the GB and/or FDS being who they claim. When you know for sure that that can't be true, the good things JW's do, while good, is nothing miraculous.
That article you posted amazes me too. But a closer look shows the art of deception. The writers give such strong wording, you know what it means, but at the same time they leave the wiggle room.
article goes on to say on p23 "The anointed and their other sheep companions recongnize that by following the lead of the modern-day Governing Body, they are in fact following their Leader ,Christ"
... following the lead of the Governing Body ... like Paul said in 1 Cor 11:1 (Become imitators of me, even as I am of Christ.) Obviously the wording in the article is meant to be strong, at the same time, you go back and can make the above justification of it. Most of us recognize that now to be BS, but as a good Witness, the elder points this out and the good Witness says "oh ... okay".

Evolution? How about creation. God created the earth to regenerate itself. Amazing isn't it? Isn't God's creation marvelous?
