in times past, who was regarded as the king of the north and south?

was it really the soviet union?

now that it is basically non- existent who are those kings supposed to be now?.

If one really followed what the text itself says, one would never go so far afield in reaching for latter day "fulfillments".

Most religions, and not just the WTS, have this problem. I believe the term the WTS uses is "parallel fulfillment." Even if the biblical prophecy was intended for a specific time period in the past and was already fulfilled, the WTS always assumes that there will be a "greater fulfillment" which will also be carried out in our day as well. The KofN is a perfect example of this. According to history, this prophecy was already fulfilled. Where does the bible say that it would take place in the future yet once again?

well folks, i started writing a big post and then the keyboard acted up on me, so i lost everything i was saying.

first of all amanda was right, this isnt anything i can just walk away from, it is'nt something that i can just put behind me and move on.

this involves my sexuality and my childhood experience growing up in the jw cult.

Are parents allowed in their teenagers judicial meeting?

a 16 year old girl was recently disfellowshipped from my congregation.

i was told by some busybodies that she had a ''wordly'' boyfriend and that she committed fornication.now she sits home alone while her parents attend 3 meetings per week.. my questions are:did the elders meet with the parents first to let them know what the offense was?

were her parents told what the judicial meeting would be about and how it works?

Funny, whatever happened to confidentiality? If I am a baptized 16 y.o., the tenets of the WTS say that my JC case is strictly confidential. THIS SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE KEEPING THE DETAILS CONFIDENTIAL FROM MY PARENTS. If the WTS wants to get technical and bring up "Caesar's law" by saying that a minor child under the age of 18 can be accompanied by their parents, this knife should cut the other way as well. Would an 18 y.o. be allowed to bring in a parent? Would the 16 y.o. be allowed to refuse having a parent present - keeping them in the dark? How about if the 16 y.o. brought in an attorney? What difference would it make? The confidentiality has been broken either way.

I don't believe this specific issue has been discussed at length before, has it?

i don't want it to happen but i bet it does.

if it does i hope it gets a lot of publicity before it actualy goes down.the site is extremely well put together and has some info that i never seen before like some of the info on the cross.

Going back to the very first thread about this site, I mentioned that your typical jw would be turned off by the theme. I just realized what other website reminded me of ssotw. Take a quick peek and tell me a good little jw would browse the site, or better yet, visit the place.

Wasn't part of the quotes suit that they said it caused embarasment to the Society? If that were the case, I think six screens should cause far greater "Embarasment".

Not that you haven't made it obvious or anything, but what is your association the Fearon's? Your excessive hyping of ssotw reminds me of someone pumping up a penny stock.

Why I Came Back

it's been a long, long time since i've posted on any of the boards.

partially, i had gotten out and busy.

this board was indispensable and helped me leave the organization with a lot of confidence in what i was doing.. but, it's not all completely over.

and I'm trying to let him see that "worldly" is not a bad thing, your hopes, dreams and plans for yourself are yours and not up to anyone else's editing, and that there are literally billions of different ways of looking at life.

And once he hits his teenage years(the natural period of rebellion), your instructions should help him break free. The only way he could stay in is if his mother was to put the spiritual 'king-fu' grip on him and have the congo love bomb him until his 30's. It might help if you keep stressing to him that Jesus didn't get baptized until he was 30. I'm sure that would piss off his mother(and the elders) to no end especially if he questions them about it as well.

I hope that God allows this one to stay online for a while.

I wouldn't be too worried if I were you. The WTS has only gone after websites that have "allegedly" infringed on their copyrights/trademarks. SSotW isn't in any danger.

we were deprived of so much as jws.

service and meeting had to come first which meant putting a lot of interests on the side - waiting for the new world when of course we would be too busy trying to convert the resurrected.

i've tried many different things.
