In times past, who was regarded as the King of the North and South? Was it really the Soviet Union? Now that it is basically non- existent who are those Kings supposed to be now?
Has anyone in Brooklyn ever refuted those claims?

Over at Freeminds there are audio clips containing segments of a talk from a plonker from Bethel who says that Islam is the New King of the South (or north, whatever). I don't know if that is official, but I spoke to lots of elders who told me that they think it is terrorism, whilst the other side is still the Anglo American world powers. It's all bullshit.

From what I've read in the Daniel prophesy book , the WTBTS still considers the anglo amercan world power as king of the south , unknown king of the north. That is one screwy dogma they have going with that .

We used to bang on a lot about this subject in the '80s. The KoN was the godless communistic powers according to JW dogma. Now I can't get a sensible answer out of anyone about the new light if there is any. -

A publication from the 1950's declared that the Soviet Union would come to an end in the battle of Armageddon.

We are wise not to speculate. Here's something that crossed my mind, what if the king of the north was the WT Society sitting in Brooklyn NY and the King of the South is the US government in Washington DC. Nothing serious just a funny thought that I had.

Better yet, since everyone knows that the world revolves around the U.S., couldn't Canada be the KON and Mexico the KOS?
Mount Megiddo could be some cool rock formation in the desert in the southwest U.S.

A must-read is Rutherford's sprawling seven-part series "Demon-Rule Ending" published in the fall of 1941 in the Watchtower, just shortly before his death. This gave a detailed verse-by-verse interpretation of Daniel 11, which interprets the "King of the North" as the totalitarian combine (i.e. the Axis nations of Germany and Italy, along with the Vatican) that was bent on "world domination". These articles are especially notable because they gave rather specific predictions about how World War II would end.... predictions which of course failed miserably.

Based on my friends who are still JWs and who live in OZ, there is talk amongst the JWs the King of the South is now considered the Middle East. I actually had an argument w/ my friend about it cause when I was growing up it was always thought to be the Soviet Union until the wall came down and the cold war ended and then there seemed to be a change in the whole thought process.
Interesting how the article Blondie highlighted stated that people should not speculate cause no one can know ... kind of like their speculating on the end of the times, they are not suppose to do that either, but that does not stop them, they just learned not to put it in print any more.
