  where would you go for solid jw information and support?.

  I just want to see my 10 year anniversary come and go.....Wow, that's only another 4 days!! I still remember where I was at when I signed up. It would feel like part of my life got taken away if the site disappeared.

  ARE YOU BEING MONITORED BY BETHEL? (not really!!)

  this is for anyone who cares... just my thoughts and opinions, which have slightly changed since i have left the cult.

  a poster named melita said some really inappropriate things on barbara andersons thread on jaracz's stroke, which got me to finally post this, just to put it out there...... when i first left, i was scared s*itless that i was being monitored and watched by bethel for reading and posting here.

  and i bet i am.

  That's my take. The elders presented me with printouts from this site and my old website when they came to have the talk. The envelope the papers were in was mailed to them - but I didn't get to see what the return address was. And the PO did say that "the service department is running this thing." I was kind of surprised that he would even admit that. But hell, the local elders would of never had a clue if it wasn't for the Sherlock Holmes' at bethel.

  Question about Prodigal Son parable

  well, after much thought put into it i decided to send a letter requesting reinstatement.

  i met with the jc and tried to reason with them on the prodigal son parable... how the father in this parable did not put his son through a waiting or probationary period, etc but rather embraced him on the spot... their answer was that the 'walk' to his father's home represents meeting attendance... in other words, the 'works' that befit repentance... any ideas???.

  i reminded them that in the last 3 years i've attempted to attend the meetings and yet the anxiety that developed brought me tangible unknown illnesses and symptoms that were unbearable and thus had to stop attending... i was told that i had to find a way to make meetings though; that i'd not die because of that.... i was asked how long did i attend meetings in my last attempt and i said about 4 months... "well, that's about 48 meetings... so say you went to 30 meetings..." i said: "no, i hardly missed any meetings and when i did i made sure the p.0.

  If you'd like to make them squirm just a little bit more and watch them bungle around for an answer, ask if it would be ok to get several of the friends together to have a party get-together to celebrate your return as a witness.(once the reinstatement announcement is made, of course) Since the elders have already determined that they represent the father, it should be them that initiates a party for your return.

  TV Pilot...Lie to Me...includes episode about a JW.

  just seen this as i was scanning the channels... dont know much more than what i googled and the blurb on the tv directory...going to watch it now.... snakes (.

  this program is starting now (wed 1/21 8pm cst/9pm est) on fox network tv (us)... tonights pilot episode includes a story about a team of experts in lie detection are hired to investigate "a young jehovah's witness killing his teacher".

  lie to me (working title) .

  I never post anymore but I watched this last night and just about cringed all the way through it when they referred to jws. Some of the things which were cringe worthy:

  • "Praying for her soul" - Come on, a jw would never say this.
  • "Doing the Lord's work" - Really? How often would you use this phrase in your lingo? You wouldn't. It sounds to much like Christendom's phrase of choice. Saying it a few times during the episode made me .
  • The kid's long'ish hair. If they were THAT much of an uber spiritual family, how in the hell does that kid get away with having a mop on his head like that?
  • "Co-loss-ee-ens" - I've never heard a jw pronounce Colossians this way.

  About the only thing they got right was home schooling their son so they could "protect him from the world." They either made the jws look this way on purpose by making them appear totally bible-whacky, or the writers didn't hire a consultant to get the correct lingo down and winged it based on whatever happened to be up on Wikipedia that day. I didn't like the show overall because I was left wondering the entire time if they were going to get anything right about the jws.

  Slumdog Millionaire! Go see it!

  i just got back from seeing it and it is fantastic.

  all i can say is go see it!.

  it was so moving, kept me gripped for the whole time and now i wanna go to india.. also the leading lady, frieda pinto is beautiful..

  If this doesn't get Best Picture of the year, then something has gone wrong. Mickey Rourke better walk away with Best Actor as well. IMO, Ben Button trails a distant 3rd behind Slumdog and The Wrestler.

  For once, we've had some pretty decent movies out at the same time. It's the sleeper hits that don't end up getting wide distribution.(SM & Wrestler) Oh, and Let the Right One In is another great thriller. But it's in Swedish with subtitles. (vampire movie) I believe the dvd comes out in March. An online dvd screener version is out there for anyone looking to watch it.

  A sister in the Alpine, CA congregation used to do china painting(Nancy M). I have no idea how many tie tacks she did that had the tetragrammaton on them. I recall that almost every brother in the hall had one, including myself. I don't remember if she sold them or gave them away. Knowing her though, she probably gave them away. My ex-FIL used to make his own magnets and bookmarks with jw stuff on them. But to be honest, he didn't really do it to make money. He charged just enough to cover his own costs with barely anything left over.

  There are some out there that do it for the money - there is no doubt. But many others that do these types of "services" simply want to help their brothers out or provide something unique that they're able to make at little or no cost. I wouldn't lump everyone that does these types of things in the same pot.

  So when we own Iraq, Iran, and Venezuela and gas drops back to $1 a gallon, will they bring back the BS?
