Hi Adam,
I'm glad for your freedom. My son also loves the Lord of the Rings. He's playing the two step while he's fading away, but I know he will be the first here to see that movie. Yes the little things are wonderful now. j2bf

It's the little things.....
by Adam inyou know, i've been out of the borg since '94 and still, once in a while, it pops into my head that something i am doing or are planning on doing is something that i would have been denied me if i had decided to stay in.
this time it's seeing the lord of the rings movie.
i love those books so much and can't wait to see the film over and over.

Did Crisis of Conscience damage you?
by Mulan init has been suggested, by a man we know, that those who read crisis of conscience, are left with a feeling of despair and are "cast adrift" after reading it.
it is his opinion that the book shouldn't have been written, because it does harm to people.
i do not agree, and would like to hear from anyone who has an opinion to share, so i can print all this out and show it to him.. comments, everyone, please????

Maturity, Cults, and JWs
by Amazing inhow cults trap us: the criteria to define cults is fairly well established.
i think "lifton" did the best job.
however, there is one feature that none of the cult expose' literature seems to deal with - maturity.

Hi Mulan, Good question and there are many fine points in reply already.
I just want to state that since reading both of Ray’s books recently (this year) I can understand why someone may feel that they are adrift. I felt “adrift” for a short time, questioning everything that I believed in and scrutinizing the basis for these beliefs. But realizing that we live in a world of immediate gratification, it was a lesson of patience for me to not have an IMMEDIATE direction of where to go or what to do next, but to allow time and lots of reading & research to begin my spiritual journey that I ALONE am responsible for. For me, Ray’s books were the beginning of that spiritual journey that I would never have undertaken without his observations of the organization and thus helping me be released from their bondage. Like others have said, what someone does with the information now is their responsibility and it maybe overwhelming. Hopefully, your friend will find his way in life and good friends to share ideas with. I know there have been many good comments here on this board that has helped me along the way. Maybe encouragement to use Ray’s information as a beginning for greater understanding may help your friend not feel so lost and move forward in his responsibilities in life. I had to discover for myself what my future hope really is and what it is based on. Maybe that’s more of what is upsetting your friend. He may have felt that he has lost his hope, whether the hope is true or not, it still was his hope. Now, point him to other good books to read and encourage him to be responsible for himself! J2bf -

Hi, Marilyn,
Sorry to hear its raining. My daughter and I visited Seattle for the first time in Sept. It was lovely there. We especially loved the downtown area and the flying fish market.(I had believed it rained everyday, so was pleasantly surprised when it was sunny three days in a row!) Maybe your rain will turn to snow and you will enjoy a white scenery for a change. j2bf -

Creative Disassociation
by hillary_step inwell, you have to admit it most da letters are boring.
especially so are the ones that contain 15-20 pages full of quotes from the golden age of march 15th 1917, or an obscure reference to a slip of the pen made by some overworked and knackered out member of writing.. lets be honest, most xjw's do not read past the first few paragraphs, but we all expect our letters will be read by the wts or its representatives, analysed and then responded to.
the reality is that they are rapidly scanned for 'juicy bits' and dumped into a bin marked, 'oh, god not another one!..

HS, nice concept. Now, I'll have to think up my excuse.
I like Mr Ben's idea. Since I started publishing, I've changed 9 times. (I wonder what I am now?)j2bf
