Welcome to the board.
Yes, there is a lot of information available now, especially online about Jehovah's Witnesses.
But being a JW or dealing with someone who is becoming a JW's combatting mind control.
Here is my list of recommended reading.
Crisis of Conscience Ray Franz
In Search of Christian Freedom Ray Franz
Gentile Times Revisited Carl Olof Jonnson
Living in the Last Days? Carl Olof Jonnson
Apocalypse Delayed James Penton
A Road Less Traveled M. Scott Peck, M.D.
Further Along A Road Less Traveled M. Scott Peck, M.D.
People of the Lie M. Scott Peck. M. D.
Combating Mind Control Steve Hassen
True Believer Eric Hoffer
The Myth of Certainty Daniel Taylor
The History of God Karen Armstrong
Let us know how things go. I hope you can reach your wife.

A study of Galatians
by Billygoat inseveral months ago, i asked a friend of mine from church to become my "accountability partner.
" basically, someone that meets with me once a week and we share what is going on in our lives.
the point is to share joys, unburden griefs, pray together, pray for each other, be brutally honest with each other, study the bible together, etc.

My favorite version is the old "Living Bible". The old dark green one. It was reading Galations that the light went on and I saw the WT for what it was or should I say was NOT.
No wonder the WT picks and chooses what verses they refer to in Galations and Romans. *sheeesh* If you read those two books alone, you would see that they WT is not following Jesus's teachings but their own made up stuff. (do more, do more, beat the friends, beat the friends)
Enjoy!

new information on disfellowshipping
by cr1234 in.
is it true that jw's are going to seek out inactive ones and if they are not willing to go back to the kingdom hall that they will be disfellowshipped?
i heard that this is a new policy.. thanks

On page 155 in the new OM book the phrase "or by their actions" (about people who do not want to be JWs anymore) is a broad enough term for elders to make announcements about those who do not want to return to the KH. i.e. "SoandSo are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses".
The verbal instructions coming down from headquarters through the Circuit Overseerer is to ask anyone who has "faded" away if they are going to return to the meetings, if not, then announce the above.
Time will tell how the elders use the new information. Of course the Society wants to weed out all the sucessful "faders" by such an announcement. And also they want the R & F to believe anyone announced as no longer being a JW was for *gasp* immorality and thus to be treated like all DF'd people.
It will be interesting to see how the people are going to respond to this control issue.

welcome to the board, Marcus.
But do yourself a favor and look around here. The vast majority of us are XJWs.
ps, I think JWs ARE a destructive cult.
