Freefallin,
I just read your post on names and was worried about you. The way you worded your response wanted me to talk to you more about how you are feeling. Your e-mail is locked, so I couldn’t contact you privately. If you feel comfortable talking with me, please write so we can discuss this. "Free Falling also applies to how I've felt ever since starting to lurk on this board about 6 months ago. Plummeting to destruction with a tattered parachute, that parachute being what I believed to be the "truth." Sometimes I wish I had never started this journey. Swyzzel,
Welcome to the board. How brave of you to post! Keep your mind open.
Just a little background on myself, I went to college while being a JW & raising a family. Could I have been a better student without all that pressure? I'm sure. But when you get out of school, no one looks at your grades anyway. So you have to weigh the consequenses of leaving the wtbts without the support of your family compared to possibly slowly leaving while you learn more about the wtbts. Yes, it will be hard on you to balance school and dub duties, but use the opportunity to be creative at the meetings. I got Crisis of Conscience and read it (with a book cover on it from Wal-mart) at the meetings! What a nice change of information. It was amazing to realize that most people don't pay attention to what your doing at the meetings. Also, I think Randy's web site has some good information on leaving a "cult" and how to progress with it. Slowly share with your parents information gleamed from this board in the wtbts literature to help open their minds, if you can. You might be surprised at the response.
Time is on your side. You don't have to rush into anything drastic at the present time. Just do the best you can and keep reading. j2bf -

FARTING at the meetings
by gambler ini'm sure you all have some good comical stories of pple farting during prayer or other quiet times during meeting.
as a personal experience of mine, the night before i had eaten a frozen pizza, doritos, and some old chocolate milk.
this combination produced the worst smelling brew i have ever had.

This is all sooooo funny!
There is a scene in the movie "Down Periscope" where the cook farts and the rest of the crews has to stay quiet. One crew member sticks tissues up his nostrils to keep from smelling it. Wouldn't that be a cute image at the KH? -

I NEED HELP DEPROGRAMMING MY MIND!
This summer is when the house of cards began to tumble for me. After reading many good books (Crises of Conscience, In Search of Christian Freedom, Signs of the Last Days, The Gentile Times Revisited, Apocalypse Delayed, Paul’s Idea of Community, Father/Son Relationship) and currently reading The True Believer (with People of the Lie and A Road Less Traveled next), I would like to ask everyone what have you read to help deprogram thoughts. I find myself still playing “old records” in my mind and now questioning everything. How do I get these “old records” of thoughts to go away? Or do I need to just keep slowly working through them with new thoughts and reasoning replacing them?
WELL?

Part 6. The Final Conflict!
by Englishman inwe were now into our fourth year in telford and although we were on reasonably friendly terms with john and nickie in dub house 1, nothing was seen of the dubs in house 2. dh1 and dh2 were not communicating at all with each other.
apart from the odd isolated girlish protests reverberating through the walls, it was like living next to an empty house.. this was a bad time for my family.
my son was set for a senior school that was appalling, our 3 choices of school had counted for nothing.

Do you ever get tired of fighting?
by Celtic inwith no encouragement from others?
what cognitive tools do you use to keep yourselves from going under?
what strategy implementation do you employ to stay as positive as possible?

Ginny, WOW, what nice thoughts you put down. I agree with the serenity you try to maintain.
HS, how inspiring. (Larc likes your feet)
Celtic, maybe it would help you to narrow down what encouragement you are expecting from others and give it to yourself. j2bf -

Part 5. The Street Party.
by Englishman insadly, their own demise as family members was now only weeks away, and those other young sisters next door on the other side were looking a bit restless too............ .
within the next few weeks, becky was noticeable by her absence.
our house no linger shook to her madonna singles and the whole family at dub-house 1 seemed to become subdued.

A Tale Of 2 Witties, Part 1.
by Englishman insome years back i moved into a new house on a new estate, quite near to where my mother lives, and even closer to where radar lives now.. we were one of the first to move in, and, after several weeks, our first neighbours began to arrive.
they were a family comprising husband, wife, 1 son and 3 daughters.
we exchanged greetings and each family showed the other around our new houses which were of the linked to each other design.. a week or so later, i noticed my mother pulling up outside in her car, but, instead of coming to my home she got into a long conversation with my new neighbour who was tending to his front garden.
