So let me get this straight....if u need something to survive, I should be able to charge u a price that most cannot afford? Like water? pay my price or do with out= --DIE?

Price gouging after natural disasters ... where should capitalism end?
by Simon ini'm sure you're all getting bored by my discussion of the recent 2013 flooding in southern alberta and flood insurance but as you can imagine it's on everyone's mind here right now.. the latest issue in the news now is price gouging and overcharging after a natural disaster.. some claim to have been overcharged by people profiteering after the floods.. some of the cases seem like misunderstandings - if you go to a 7/11 that normally sells bottled water individually and you want to buy a whole flat of it, i don't think you should suddenly expect costco prices for it.. but others do seem like they are taking advantage ... or are they?.
one could argue that high prices will smooth out demand and prevent greedy people from stockpiling more than they need that they may otherwise buy and hoard.. isn't it the ultimate manifestation of free-market economics, sullply and demand to set the price?

Should u shop at Good Will after knowing what they pay some misfortuned ones versus what the few elite (minority) make? I know we will not give to them anymore after the "truth" about how little some of the most vulnerable make that work there! We will find another way to help individuals.

So true...my wife stated this years back in mixed company and one of the Beth-elite elders gave her a look that could kill.
So sad, but my 78 year old mom just texted me that she is getting ready for service. I responded back with a "good morning" something I do everyday, and in the evenings send her a pic of our setting sun (she enjoys them). She know I am weak but doesn't really want to know too much. I have a hard time encouraging her but at times I will, by saying positive things like -- 'hope u have a good morning in service' I just could not say it this am.
I would liked to respond to my mon with the thoughts of what "LisaRose" said in her comment...because it is so true...

there was some criticism aimed at the op and i understand that elders shouldn't be singled out as special.

Yes and No...no need for me to elaborate as the high points have already been mentioned.
However you have already made your decision-choice...just make the best of it until you are able to get your family out and others.
Bits of info said here and there by one of my friends took seed and helped wake me up. It took years but WORKED.
So plant seeds of info like past teachings, like the UN involvement...well you know how many things that can be used to wake someone, somethings will work on some, other unknown info on others, just depends.
But “something” will work...we are the proof.

It is a gorgeous, sunny Sunday
by PaintedToeNail ini'm so glad i have been able to be puttering around my yard, planting flowers, pulling weeds, drinking coffee while on the porch, instead of being locked in a stuffy kingdom hall, being bored to death, watching the clock and hoping nobody was going to be long-winded on the comments at the watchtower and we would end up overtime.

Yes it is...enjoying the day...outside yard "work" however it's a bit warm here in SW Fl USA... a sunny 91 with 58% humidity...chance of rain that will up the humidity. Not really complanining but summer is here...better home then wasting time at KH
