Rutherford wrote the booklet of that name in 1920. Is that definitively a false prophecy yet? Even if everyone who was alive in 1920 survived Armageddon, if it was to come today, would that amount to millions of people?

According to Wikipedia there are 316,600 people who are a 100 years old or older. To be alive in 1920 you would need to be 93. So if there are not already fewer than 2 million people alive from 1920, then that time will surely come in the next few years. And Rutherford's famous prophecy of endless life for millions of his time will become yet another failed Watchtower prophecy.

Now, now, now... the WTS never makes false prophecies.

They just have a lot of "failed expectations"...

When belief after belief of jw'dom has been shown to be false it's a wonder that people still consider what Rutherford said at all, in my view. Technically it's not been proven false if millions of people alive in 1920 are still alive (I was visiting someone today who was born in 1919) but given the track record it's hard to consider him/them credible with regard to anything.

According to their old belief. Those who was alive before or at 1914 would see all these prophecy take place. Oh well!!!! I forgot anything Russell said doesn't matter anymore. It should be titled "Millions now living are going to die someday." Totally ADD

It is a false prophecy because its fulfillment was supposed to occur in 1925- not 2020.

"The period must end in 1925. The type ending, the antitype must begin; and therefore 1925 is definitely fixed in the scriptures. every thinking person can see that a great climax is at hand. The Scriptures clearly indicate that the climax is the fall of Satan's empire and the full establishment of the Messianic kingdom. This climax being reached by 1925, and that marking the beginning of the fulfillment of the long promised blessings of life to the people, millions now living on earth will be living then and those who obey the righteous laws of the new arrangement will live forever. Therefore it can be confidently said at this time that millions now living will never die." (Golden Age, Jan. 4, 1922, p. 217)

Good point. But we know how JWs like to stretch credulity to the very limit before admitting they got something wrong.

Most JWS today have never heard of this book or who wrote it and probably do not even know who J Rutherford is or was.

Millions now living will never die

Was a book and teaching that Rutherford created more as a vehicle to attract attention to his literature and

of himself. Since he used or exploited the bible to support this proclamation, some people bought into it.

Thats freedom of religion in America folks love or hate it.

Both Russell and Rutherford were devious but cunning religious charlatans in the purest sense.

Just to be OLD is not enough to survive Armageddon, you know that. You have to be baptised and if you are old, and dying you have to report

at least 15 minutes per month field service. Your territory is the doctor, nurse, diaper changer. who will be killed.

Not all prohecies are written, the book was preceded by advertised talks with that title, and it's "MAY never die" earlier variant.

Being very YOUNG though, helps to survive Armageddon, if your parents are regularly reporting JWs, but then you were not alive in 1918/19, when the FDS arrived on the scene with that promising prediction, where you? -- "where were you when I made that prophecy?" -- adopted from Job.

Where there more than 2 million baptised witnesses in 1925?

Where there over 2 000 000 nearly 60 old year old, baptized JW in 1975?

Where there at least 2 000 K baptized Publishers (and their 80 year old babies) in 2000 CE? you see the trend,

The prediction will NEVER BE FULFILLED. Unless

Wt changes doctrine to universal salvation and FS becomes redundent. hurraih!

In the tests of Prophets --- like on MT Carmel--- ! King 18, described in so many wt printings, despite the many lamentations, seen in a modern setting,

THIS "SACRIFICE OF LIPS" is left exposed, unfulfilled for all to see as a monument to THE PROPHET(S) and THEIR GOD. So:

    Who's fault is that,

    The Prophet's or

    God's?

Proceed to verse 40 to see the developing story back then.

Are we not all glad they are just stories?

Why did the Wt's FDS,- freshly minted in 1919, - (as we know now) - think, that God would be able to help them fulfill that prophecy, when he would not even keep

The Snake in EDEN ! from talking?

Agreed. The explanations tendered to avoid admitting a mistake defy logic.

And, WT never admits a mistake. Mistakes are always re-worked to appear as not being a mistake at all.

As the Proclaimers book mentions Re: "Millions Now Living Will Never Die", that, although the message was proved to be false, at least JWs were enthusiastic about advertising it!

The WT spin doctors transform a massive failure into a victory. Astonishing.

Doesn't matter because as of July, Rutherford is no longer part of the FDS.

Only the FDS has a special relationship with Jehovah. See? Problem Solved!
