I almost lost myself with all the crap life dumped on me. But now Im really searching to see who I really am. The more I am untrue to myself, the worse my mental problems get in the way. The more I am truely me, the clearer and happier I am. As messed up as I am, I love to be me.

Governing Body 2.0

i borrow the phrase gb 2.0 from alltimejeff, who used it yesterday in the post about theodore jaracz's death.. i was interested in starting a thread that addresses the new leadership regime that has emerged within the wts, especially in light of changes (albeit mundane) the organization has undertaken over the past 15 years or so.

while few of us have had close contact with the men in charge, changes they have made in recent years surly reflect a definable leadership style.

it also reveals a little bit about how they view the organization and its future.. from what i can put together, it seems that there a few obvious things to note.. - 1999 seems to be the sea change year in terms of gb appointment and might be seen sybolically as a turning point in terms of leadership for the group.

The role of prophecy is diminishing, with more of a focus on lifestyle. The latest book on Jeremiah as well as the one on the minor prophets released a few years ago show a significant shift away from understanding prophecy in terms of having fulfillment in modern times. Rather than using these prophetic books as a way to expand on the end times narrative, they instead focusing on coping with what seems to be an extended period of waiting for the end. In this way the books reveal that the current leadership definitely sees signs of "armageddon anxiety" among the membership. While the organization used to reinvigorate its members with exciting new explantations of prophetic fulfillment, the current brand of rhetoric sees no role for such speculations. Instead they focus on qualities such as "endurance" and "patience". The role of end times still is important, but not in the sense of a being a dominating narrative.

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! If this kind of thing keeps coming then Gods true religion can finally be born.

Satans hold on this oganization is slipping. I wish to see more activity on this forum. Nows the time to topple the giant. We must keep on encouraging logical thought.

this is the date when somebody, somewhere, somehow, switched the light on and i realised i'd been part of a cult.

21 years of my life wasted.... since then i have gone through what i can only compare to losing someone i loved in death.

Dont pay attention to none of that crap. If you want to be free and stop being slave to someone all the time you must WAKE UP! There is no set answer for your problem. Not a single one of us here can help you. You must have the presence of mind to see what is really happening around you. Only then will you be able to get your answer.

But as a reward you get to keep the presence of mind and use it on any problem you wish.

Aint God awesome!

I say this because I love you as a brother, and wish to see you enabled, not having to rely on something outside yourself.

If you have any questions how to do this I am here for you. But everything has to be said openly on the board so it can be challenged by the others. This keeps you from becoming my or the forums slave.

You are as special as the angels. Dont let this world fool you. We are of this earth but it is ours to command!

Standing up for myself, a lonely stand

i have learned in my life that i am the only one i can trust to stand up for myself .. many times i wished others would have 'had my back', like when i was seven and my favorite teacher committed wrongful contact with my class....we didn't know the term pedofile back then , and children were not taken serious when they made complaints about teachers .

i wished my mom had been more protective and saved me from some ugly situations .

i knew at 10 yrs of age that wasn't going to be the case .

I get what youre saying. But please dont let yourself be a slave to your inner warrior. I had anger issues and would never back down from a fight. This is not in reference to your post. Its just to help you with other things that get in the way. Living in anger is hard.

A detailed prophesy

a very (but not only) prophesy i see in the scriptures, far diff then what we been shown.

a few diff outcomes, still sorting out.

the beginning of this though, the first paragraph, seems to happen in any scenario, but the remainder not so clear at this point.. world leaders behind the scenes unite themselves, feeling and seeing through the scriptures that they must being in god's new government.

The first part sounds good. But I think the bible makes out like right before it gets so bad God steps in and slaps down this movement. Then after all the people who do live by love are gone we can begin the 1000 years of getting ourselves to perfection. Living forever.

I didn't know what a JW was, until I fell for one

when i fell for him i was completely unaware of his upbringing as a jw and only became aware once he decided to leave a few months back.

being raised without much of a religious basis, besides the typical western christian exposure, i have researched, read, attended groups, read in this forum, to try to better understand him, and jws, but i am feeling at a loss here.

he just recently left the jws and now i am experiencing this struggle with him; i am wondering how much of our problems can be contributed to this transition.

I absolutley dissagree with leaving him. You have every right to stand up for yourself and not allow him to be abusive. Reason with him and explain that behavior is not ok. Even if it were provoked, he still has a responsability to be a man and not take advantage of you. The JW's have clouded his reality about women. He needs to move beyond that submissive crap and see you as his equal.

He is probably going through alot of turmoil inside. Leaving the WTS is a scary thing. He thinks if he is wrong it will mean loss of everlasting life. So stand by your man and be there for him. If he attacks then wait till he is calm and address the situation. If he persists to be abusive you have to leave. If you were to stay you would be enabling him and he would never get better. But just leaving now would be abandoning him. If you really love him give him a shot.

Balance is the key.

A Question About Paradise Earth?

we've all seen illustrations of jehovah's happy people living in a utopia lifestyle sharing baskets of fruit, wearing preppy clothing and everyone has a pet grizzly bear or shark, but what about natural disasters?

earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, flash floods, hail, lightning, blizzards, etc are just going to cease to exist?

everyday will be a beautiful 76 degrees with a calm cool breeze from the north?
