i came home from visiting family two days early and found him in bed with someone else.

my parents are in their 80's.. they have been jw's since the late 1950's.. they both have serious misgivings about the way the organisation is going & they feel lost.. however it has been a damned hard struggle over all those years being jw's & raising a family in the 'truth' & they do not feel they can turn their back on it.. what can i say to help them?

So heartbreaking it made me cry. All the sadness and pain this organization has caused is just awful. Finding out the truth is traumatizing especially when you have put so many years into it.
My thoughts: Let them know that they are great parents and that they did the best they could with information that they had. Their life has not been a waste and you mentioned that you have a close family - well - they BEAT the WT because they tear families apart and yours is close - they must be wonderful people to keep you guys close like that. Let them know how much you appreciate them. Support them in whatever decision they make. Tell them how much you love them. The WT has NOTHING on unconditional love.

one of the ones i find hilarious is during the beth-sarim affair, rutherford announced that the world was laughing and mocking them because they don't believe the resurrection is going to come to pass when they said it was.

Three months ago when I discovered the wonderful news that I'd been in a cult for the last 30 years and dared to show him ONE scripture - about the mediator and ask ONE question - where does it say that he is mediator for the 144,000? This has transpired (one of the many crazy things):
He - disfellowshipped as he was - went to the elders about me and how concerned he was about MY spirituality. Raising the alarm of the elders. Then he started attending ALL the meetings. Then he informed my mom and I that the demons had visited him in the night and tossed him around in his bed FORBIDDING him to go the the meetings. Convincing him all the more so that this was the truth. And I'm the one who is crazy?? He - then started shunning ME - did I mention he was disfellowshipped? Did I mention that I NEVER shunned him even though he was disfellowshipped?
The elders have informed him that he has been forgiven (how nice of them) and will be reinstated. I guess he got brownie points for handing over an evil and Satanic apostate.

That's a very good analogy! That is exactly how it it for witness women. It's a sick and controlled plastic environment and so far from how life should be. The harm they have done by forcing us to fit into a mold is DISGUSTING. That's why I'd say most women in the congregations are on antidepressants and are constantly sick with arthritis and all sorts of ailments. We are meant to live as INDIVIDUALS not manufactured, plastic, molded barbies with every detail of your life dictated by men - whether it be a husband, an elder or governing body.

My friend and I were discussing this scenario. We both came to the concusion that if framed right - many would do it. Many would also wake up real fast and get out.
Mad Sweeney - would that 90% of the 30% or 40% kill people before or after they drank the poison? Or is it a slow-acting poison? Would they be resurrected in the twinkling of an eye to kill the dissenters? Sorry - I couldn't resist! LOL!
In all seriousness - I have to agree - I believe that there would be people willing to kill those who refused. It's a very scary scenario. As was pointed out - they kill all the time via the blood rule.
