i was in a chinese take-out the other day and saw a couple of very recent awake and watchtower magazines on the counter, amongst other magazines.. i had a good flick through both of them and noticed how very similar both magazines now appear in terms of appearance and content.
i was left with the distinct impression that the public edition watchtower is now basically indiscernable from the awake!
regarding content.

i've been doing some research about famous witnesses.
some were raised and eventually left, while others came in as adults.
they range from sports players, musicians, and entertainers.

the past number of months have been traumatic for myself and my family.. the fascist practices of the wts have wreaked monumental harm to us all - with 3 members hospitalized for suicide.. researching past events brings one to the overwhelmingly sad story of bethany hughes, and her parents lawrence and arliss.. (arliss was featured years later on a dc for her courage through their ordeal.).

it is doubly sad knowing personally one of the wts lawyers involved, and his relatives who have left the wts despite the harsh consequences.. sometimes, i wish there were a "dante" hell.. .
Three members of your family have attempted suicide recently? Sounds very traumatic indeed. Instead of "Researching past events" about the sad death of young ones, please look at doing something positive. Sadness and depression is lifted by helping people who are in need. Have you thought about doing some voluntary work for charity? I really enjoyed working for Cancer Research when I had time on my hands this year. If you can afford to buy some toys and bring them to the children's ward at your nearest hospital, your heart will be lifted when you see their faces light up. These are just a couple of ideas to lift your spirits and bring happiness to others at the same time. Take care.

i left in 2009, and he followed me out a bit later.
we were one of those couples who followed the script, married young and ended up having nothing in common other than the religion.
Do you have to get a lawyer for a divorce? If your husband is reasonable and agrees to not give a lot of money to lawyers...... cut out the middle man - see if you can both agree on who looks after the children. If you are going to share having the children 50/50, then neither of you will have to pay the ex spouse any money. Agree to sell the home at 50/50percent for each of you. Or buy him out of the family home at 50% of the market value. Or he buys you out at 50%. I divorced my husband several years ago, and neither of us paid one penny to a lawyer. I gave him his share in cash for the home, and got his name off the title deeds. I filed for divorce - it cost me nothing because I was too ill to work at the time. He did not contest my application for divorce. It went through in 3 months. I am in the legal profession, and really hate it when people throw money away on lawyers unnecessarily. Please meet up with your husband outside of the family home - go to a coffee shop maybe. Come to an agreement by yourselves about all the important issues, and then lesser ones like who gets what furniture. I hope he is sober when you meet up.

it's ok.... to post here on the internet, on jwn, and other jw related forums.. first of all, as we all know, the governing body doesn't provide a forum for jw's to "associate" with their brothers and sisters.
i'm just guessing, and i could be wrong, that its harder to control the flock when they have free access to information and each other.
damn electricity and the technology it brings..... anyway, i realize that for anyone leaving, or for practicing jw's, to post is a nervous thing.

I have no respect for those who use negative propaganda to encourage JW's to leave their religion, without offering somewhere better to go to.
Thank you for wanting to teach me about the real origins of the JW religion, but I have done enough study at the city library on this subject, for the last 25 years, and I am happy with what I have learned. I don't expect perfection from imperfect people. I hope you think this is fair.

Thanks for the pamphlets. Couldn't stop laughing. So many holes in it, and it looks like one of the old tracts from the 70's. But then again, you quote from the 1969 Awake, so it will all look very feasible.
