In conjunction with my post right before this one:
You said,
quote:
"Jehovah made the promise to Abraham. This promise was a unilateral covenant that Jehovah made with Abraham. In other words there was only one side that agreed to do something.
There was no condition imposed on Abraham."
And you are correct! But, you forget, there are two covenants involved here. TWO!! One to Abraham, the unilateral covenanat. Unconditional!! correct! And I quote, ", “To your seed I am going to give this land” (Gen. 12:7) Later Jehovah extended it as follows, “that by reason of the fact that you have done this thing and you have not withheld you son, your only one, I shall surely bless you and I shall surely multiply your seedlike the stars of the heavens and like the grains of the sand that are on the seashore; and your seed will take possession of the gate of his enemies. And by means of your seed all nations of the earth will certainly bless themselves due to the fact that you have listened to my voice.” (Gen. 22:16-18) This involved an inheritance to his seed or seeds. Capeesh?? :) Unconditional!!! But, please listen very carefully. "He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit." Gal. 3:14
"If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Gal 3:29
Can you hear that????? Abrahams promise goes to the gentiles, his seed. Is that difficult to understand??
Now #2: the covenant through the Law. “ Now if you strictly obey my voice and will indeed keep my covenant, then you will certainly become my special property out of all peoples, because the whole earth belongs to me. And you yourselves will become to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” (Exodus 19:5,6) Need I say more... Yep, IF THEN. Ummmmm!!!
