it was relayed to me by a friend that in order for jw's to get "help" from other jw's, that they needed to fill out a form (to make sure that they were jw's) and answer questions concerning how active they are and meeting attendance.
if the meeting attendance was low or if they were "inactive", then they weren't going to be taken in or helped.
in the situation that was relayed to me, a jw woman with a couple of teenaged girls was asking for help.
I remember when I was in the process of leaving the JWs when a nearby town was destroyed by a tornado. Just about every church that could open up a shelter for people made homeless due to the tornado was opened. They took anybody and everybody in with no questions asked. The silence was deafening when it came to the local Kingdom Halls. None of them were opened up to the public to be used for shelters. I often wondered why this was the case.

that is what the watchtower society thinks of you and the xjw movement.. the wts lawyers, reps and elders would laugh each time i stood outside the court house with a placard.
i would have up to twenty supporters.. show the world that the wts corrupt and evil.. show the wts that the xjw movement is not a joke.. show the wts that the xjw movement is real and means buisness and is a force to be reconned with.. support the protest in brooklyn.

warning: this post may be damaging to your biases.. it seems to me that the "danger" the witnesses pose to larger society is, well, pretty damn small.
just think about it: the witnesses are almost not involved in politics at all, except the occassional "freedom of religion and speech" issues they take to various courts, issues i am happy to support the witnesses in, even if i strongly disagree with their beliefs.
you will not see jws supporting banning abortions or gay marriages or a whole host of other civil liberties and freedoms that evangelicals rally around like the village people searching for frankenstein's monster.
About the blood issue.....
So called blood medicine is extremely expensive particularly in third world countries. I cannot remember what country it was in but there was a study done that mentioned that it was three times as expensive to open up a bloodless medicine clinic than one that is not so specialized.
So, yes, the doctors who have perfected certain surgeries on JWs probably have some appreciation for the JWs willingness to be human guinea pigs.....However in the long run such specialized medical centers increase the expense of health care at large and also create many deaths that could probably have been avoided and many people who could have been cured less expensively...
So, I am not so sure the whole no blood thing has as many benefits as the JWs and others might thing it does.

Sounds like the articles and talks the JWs used to give in the 1980's. I wonder how this will be taken seeing as the cat was sort of let out of the bag in the 1990's

my dr. had prescribed advair for my asthma.
for a 90 day supply it will cost me $75.
that's not too bad being that it will be $25 per month for me.
Yea...when I was suffering with acid reflux a few years ago, I had to pop one pill a day for a month and each of those pills costed about 3 dollars US.
I have this chronic stomach condition which requires me to take meds. Well, I had been taking the caplets for years. We changed insurance companies and one day my pharmacist says that the insurance will not cover the pills anymore. I called the insurance...they said that they would only cover the capsules and not the caplets.....
The caplets and capsules contain the same amount of medication....and according to the pharmacist are roughly the same price...
In any case, the whole system is screwed up...but I am not sure how it can be fixed.

I enjoy spending time in silence in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in Catholic Chapels and Churches. This is known as Eucharistic Adoration.
I usually pray to the Lord and thank Him for His goodness and generosity.
And then I just sit there and practice being their with Him. At times, I experience an inner silence and peace that is hard to describe.
In any case, I have noticed that by slowing down and spending time in quiet with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, that my stress level often goes down and I am better able to face the problems of life.
I hope that made sense.
