  The JW elders that showed up at my door when I lived in Nebraska were much more obnoxious. If the other elder had not been there, I think the other one would have hit me. He got mad at me for answering his question.....He asked me "If I had any relatives in the Truth?". I said, "No, I do not have any relatives in the Truth but I do have relatives who are Jehovah's Witnesses."

  I told them that they were welcome to come and visit me anytime and that I would share with them the ways in which the Watchtower Society has lied to them. They claimed that they were there to assist me in being reinstated. Actually, they were ticked off because I had coached a couple of ladies in this small Nebraska town whom they were trying to convert to ask them questions that they could not answer and it turned out that one of the JWs visiting my friends was the daughter of one of these elders.

  Oh, well! The JWs never visited my house or my friends' home again.

  If you were newly inactive, did you feel pressure to attend the Memorial?

  i'd be interested in hearing your experiences, if you were newly inactive and felt pressured to go to the memorial.

  did the jw's pressure you to go or did you feel guilty for missing the lord's evening meal (well, we all miss it anyway when we pass it round)

  Yes, when we first became inactive our parents put lots of pressure on us to go to the Memorial. We did not go and did our best to ignore it.

  Hot Cross Buns Banned in English School

  IPSWICH , February 7, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The UK’s mania for political correctness has struck again where a school has banned hot cross buns, a traditional sweet pastry associated with Good Friday. A representative of Oaks Primary School in Ipswich, said the buns, which include two strips of decorative icing intersecting in the middle, might offend Jehovah’s Witnesses who attend the school.

  Hot cross buns, a spicy currant or raisin studded yeast bun, topped with a "Cross" of lemon-flavored icing, have been a feature of English culture since the Middle Ages.

  The Suffolk Evening Star reported that the head teacher of the school, Tina Jackson, asked the supplier to provide the buns without the crosses. “Obviously, the hot cross bun is a celebration of Easter but it is not Easter yet,” she told the paper. Jackson did not say whether she would expel students who chanted the traditional English nursery rhyme, “One a penny; two a penny; hot cross buns.”

  The local pastor of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation applauded the school’s decision. “I can understand why the school has done this and I support the decision. Hot cross buns are a pagan symbol of fertility no different to bunnies, eggs and Easter. The Bible states we should not worship things of a pagan origin.”

  No information was available about what sort of services the school had been planning to allow students to worship the buns or whether they had been cancelled. Moreover, the school did not say whether the buns would be inspected by the local Muslim or Catholic authorities for possible accidental appearances of religious figures in the patterns formed by the currants in the buns.

  before everyone gets upset, yes i do realize i have been gone for just over a week, and yes, i do realize thats not acceptable.

  my grandmother wants to send all her kids on a vacation for their graduation from high school.

  Just tell all of them that you will fit in the reaching-out in the congregation while attending college. Make sure you keep saying over and over again in the meeting how you are going to college.

  i have been assisting a lady in conversing with her boyfriend who has been studying with the jws.. this past weekend, the elder that is studying with this lady's boyfriend claimed that blood transfusions are a conscience matter and that you can have them if you want.. now, is this part of the new document on blood that is coming down soon or is this guy just playing word games?.

  I have been assisting a lady in conversing with her boyfriend who has been studying with the JWs.

  This past weekend, the elder that is studying with this lady's boyfriend claimed that Blood Transfusions are a conscience matter and that you can have them if you want.

  Now, is this part of the new document on blood that is coming down soon or is this guy just playing word games?

  Switch "Knowledge" to "Bible Teach" - Why?

  can anyone tell me (or link me up if this has already been asked) why the january kingdom ministry instructs publishers to gradually wean studies of the "knowledge" book and to start with this new release "what does the bible teach"?.

  what are they trying to hide?.

  It's fascinating that your folks had to look up unconditional love in the Watchtower publications to see what it meant. And, of course, the Watchtower defines it as love with conditions. It could be that with time your folks will lighten up. My father told me that if I left the JWs that it would be difficult for him and my mother to have a relationship with me. They speak with us regularly now and have even come to visit.

  New light for the Catholic Church

  this may have been covered already, but i missed it if it was.. a lady i work with who is catholic told me that not too long ago the new pope changed the catholic doctrine on purgatory - in that now it no longer exists.

  of course i couldn't help but think "hmmmm....new light....".

  my question to her was "well, do all the people that paid to get their loved ones out of purgatory get a refund?".
