Here's something I whipped up.......obviously, we're not all going to say the exact same thing, but I think the main points should be: change the ridiculous "two witness" rule, they're acting like the Pharisees, they're no better, and are in fact worse, than the Catholic Church.....if they think Jehovah is blessing them, think again..............
".........I am writing to you in response to the decision to disfellowship Bill Bowan, Barbara Anderson and others from the congregation, for their courage to go public about the pedophile "problem" in the Organization that has reached epidemic proportions.
To begin with, I cannot believe you, the Governing Body, are quoting Deut. 19:15 and Matthew 18:16 to try and justify your position on we cant do anything unless there is testimony from at least two witnesses. To be quite blunt: what planet are you on? Child molestation is ALWAYS done in private; its NEVER done in front of anyone because the pig whos doing the raping, knows full well its a crime that could see him thrown into prison for life! You think theyre going to let anyone else know whats going on? How often do we hear from the victims later on in life that the molester told them that what he was doing to them was "a secret" and that the child "couldnt tell anybody" or "something bad" might happen either to them or a member of their family?
I watched the Dateline program as well as the Panorama program and I was absolutely disgusted at the way victims of child molestation are treated when they report a supposed "Christian" in the congregation to the police because the elders will do NOTHING about it. Do you have any idea how pathetic we appeared to millions of viewers when it was shown that many from the congregation show up to support the rapist, but not one single Witness showed up to support the victim?! Not only are the victims shown no support, but they are treated like apostates. Could we possibly be any more pathetic?
Weve had several articles in the magazines over the years on how to educate your children about the evils of pedophilia, but unfortunately, the facts clearly show that you pay lip service to the welfare of children and obeisance to the "image" of the religion, as clearly shown in the media. In that respect, were no different than the Catholic church and every elder thats ever covered up a case like this is no different than Cardinal Law. In fact, you are behaving worse than the Catholic Church, because your main goal seems to be getting rid of anyone whom you deem as a threat for exposing your hypocritical and often criminal behavior. Instead of contacting the police, disfellowshipping the molester and comforting the victim, the whole thing will be swept under the carpet (especially if the accused is an elder), and the victim treated like an apostate if they dare to try and do the right thing by reporting a criminal act to the police.
Do you really think for one second that Jehovah is "blessing your efforts"? If you do, then youre only deluding yourself. Jehovah does not reward men who pat themselves on the back, while sacrificing children on the altar of their public image. Your reaction to someone exposing you for what you really are, is no different than that of the Pharisees. Jesus exposed them for their hypocrisy, their deceitfulness, their arrogance and their refusal to admit fault on anything they did. And what was their reaction? Not one of humbleness and a need for change, but rather that of hatred. Hatred for the person exposing them. They conspired with each other, had false charges read against Him, and they got rid of him, because He was a threat to the power they had over the masses and this is exactly what youre trying to do to anyone who exposes you.
Whats really pathetic about this whole sordid affair, is that there was no need for any of this to happen, To pretend that child molestation doesnt go on in our religion is stupid: it goes on in every single religious organization on earth, simply because youve got imperfect people in every single religious organization on earth.
If child molesters in the congregation were pursued with the same gusto and enthusiasm as those that buy lottery tickets or question any of the doctrines put forth by the Governing Body, then youd be doing something worthwhile. Then, when the scandal from the Catholic Church erupted, we could have truly said look at us, we dont put up with pedophiles, we kick them out and report them to the authorities. Unfortunately, this hasnt happened and now you have to reap what youve sown.............and you wonder why so many have left and continue to leave the Organization.
Unless changes are made immediately, then you will continued to be mocked in the press and harried by Witnesses demanding to know whats going on. You can only use the "its apostates persecuting us" for so long. Its going to ALL come out in the wash and its not going to just blow over either. None of you have done anything to prevent any of this, youve behaved neither "faithful" nor "discreet" and you should all hang your heads in shame.
And if you think that Jehovah is going to reward any of you with eternal life in heaven ruling with Christ, think again. You might be able to convince yourselves that youre "approved" by God, or are part of the "Faithful and Discreet Slave", but your actions have proven otherwise. Come Judgement Day, theres no doubt many of you will be trying to plead your case before Jesus, and will be totally stunned when you hear: "I never knew you. Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness......"
