The coming "disassociations"
by Elsewhere ini have seen several threads about how the elders are going to be going around asking people if they still consider themselves to be jehovah's witnesses.
this will undoubtedly result in multiple da announcements in the coming months.
i'm curious how the average jw will perceive this and respond to it.

Theocratic Ministry School change
by Nosferatu ini heard recently that the theocratic ministry school has been modified.
instead of giving the student's grade from the platform, it will now be done in private.
did they finally realize that telling the student that he's getting a "w" is humiliating him, or is there scriptural reasoning for this change?

The elders want to counsel people in private again? Or does this just apply to young children in the Hall that they want to be alone with.............

Is Warning re Possible Lawsuit Required?
by Scully inthis is just a general question for anyone who might have some legal background on the matter.. if (and i expect there will be) an announcement is made to our former congregation that we are "disassociated", can i just go ahead and sue them (individual elders in the congregation) for slander and defamation of character?
the decision to make the announcement is one that has to go through the body of elders, right??.
is it necessary, when the elders come calling, to say "i will sue the shirt off your back and the bloomers off your @$$ if you make any announcement that slanders my name or defames my character to anyone"??

Hi Scully;
I would maybe talk to a lawyer beforehand and see what they say. I think as long as you're suing an individual elder, and not the Society, you have a much better chance of winning. I sincerely doubt that "Mother" is going to want to get involved in an individual lawsuit and I don't think they'll want to spare any lawyers when they've got bigger problems on their hands. The elder I'm sure can get lots of legal advice from Brooklyn, but they'd have to hire their own lawyer I'm sure.
Do you know of any child abuse within your local congregation that's been covered up? If so, you could definetely use that as leverage. If you local elders come calling and threaten to DA or DF you, you could let them know in no uncertain terms that they better think about it very carefully because you'll be suing them as individuals, and you'll let your local newspaper know what's going on within the Organization. That outta put a nice little damper on the door-to-door ministry. I would also write them a formal letter saying that you have NOT disassociated yourself and that if they announce ANYTHING about you to the congregation, that you will view that as slander and will sue them.
This is exactly the same kind of bullshit that happened with Ray Franz and others were deemed a "problem". Rather than address the issue head-on, the Borg pulled out all stops to get rid of Ray and several others through means of a witch-hunt within the Organization. The only difference now is that there are a ton more Witnesses that know what's going on, plus all the coverage on the news has been devastating to the Borg as well.
These men running the show are truly "from [their] father, the Devil" and you gotta play dirty like them.
You should send your elders a Christmas Card with a nice little poem to go with it:
Ya better watch out;
Ya better not try;
To disfellowship me, I'm tellin' you why;
Raymond Franz is coming to town..........
He knows that you've been naughty;
He knows that you're all pricks;
He know that you've been hiding things
that would make you look like dicks;
Oh, ya better not pout;
Ya better not cry;
Ya better not visit, I'm tellin' you why;
Raymond Franz is comin' to town........

Circuit Visit / Christmas campaign
by caspian insorry that i haven't posted for a while, been moving house and congregation over the last few weeks.. just thought that i will mention, the comments made by our co at the elders meeting on the friday of his visit.. with the elders starting the visits on the inactive in jan and feb, it was suggested by the society to start a week or so earlier to see how many have inactive ones have christmas decorations and so-on.. it was also suggested that if such ones are celebrating a pagan festival, it could be classed as false worship.
which is classified as a "self-disassociation offence" and hence an announcement could be made to the congregation.. my question is this, is it just our co taking things in to his own hands or is this now national or international policy.
kind regards.

Shakita asked: taking legal action something to be considered here? It seems to me that all the freedom of speech that the society has fought and won for in the court system should come back to haunt them. Maybe that "freedom of speech" needs to be legally fought for in the name of, not the WTBS, but its members who wish of their own free will to leave without punishment of public defamation.
I agree completely. I would suggest to anyone here who gets a visit from the elders on Xmas day to either simply ignore the doorbell, or if they try to DF or DA you, threaten to sue the elder personally in Civil Court. Emphasize that you won't be suing Brooklyn, but him PERSONALLY, and that if they don't get off your back, you might be living in their house by next Xmas (only if it's a really nice big one!). Unless he's got lots of $$$, or is even dumber than usual, most elders aren't going to want to risk losing their homes on a whim like this...........

Talk: JWs are not go to a gym???
by WingCommander ini remember just a few short years back at my old congregation, there were a few younger brothers and sisters joining gyms and going to work out.
well, i guess the elders found out that everyone's free time wasn't being spent pioneering, so a talk (down to) was given one sunday on "not letting worldy pursuits take your eyes off the prize" or some shit like that.
the whole talk was about how we should devote all time to the wts and field service, and that going to or belong to a gym was just a worldly pursuit and that it was just making or bodies "showy".
-
Mary
Our Hall is the opposite: the elders see nothing wrong with the sisters going to the gym to workout, presumably because there's a few elders that are dirty old men and spend all their time learing at the sisters. However, the brothers were cautioned about working out and the CO actually made the statement "can you see Jesus going to Gold's Gym?" Asshole. The reason the elders don't want the younger brothers working out at the gym, is because our elders are a bunch of fat bodies and they don't want the younger guys lookin' better than they do.........

Elder Resigns Because Of 9---11
by minimus inlast night i talked to an elder that resigned early this year and he told me that he resigned as an elder because of 9--11. he felt that after seeing thousands of people dying in such a horrifying way, there was just no way god would destroy 99 and 9 tenths of the world and only spare jehovah's witnesses.
he also felt that since the kingdom message could not be adequately preached by a handful of jw's so that people could get life, the whole thing is a sham.
he no longer goes to meetings and his wife crys to everybody about her husband.

Good for him!! Yep, I think September 11th had a greater effect on more Witnesses than what most like to admit. After witnessing the towers collapsing and knowing that there were thousands of innocent people trapped inside was a devastating moment for anyone with a heart........I remember even seeing Bush struggling not to cry.........
As this was basically a scaled down version of what the Borg teaches is going to happen worldwide at the Big A, it can really make alot of Witnesses stop and think that perhaps we shouldn't be joyful over such a pathetic man-made doctrine whereby 99.9% of the earths population are going to be executed for not believing the feckless and indiscreet slave crap........
BTW, I've heard two versions of Brooklyn's reaction after everyone came running over the bridges.....one is that they opened their doors to the public, provided coffee, blankets, food, comfort and medical care. The other version I heard is that they literally locked their doors. Anyone know for sure what happened?

Watchtower & Sex
by JH indo you think that witnesses in general have a good sex life?
with all the pressure they have to produce and assist meetings, they have less time left on their hands for other things, like sex.
asked to be spiritual, reading the bible, talking about god and angels, takes their mind off sex.

Well I'm not married so I'm not a good one to ask, but I do know that all my Witness friends who DID get married at 18 or 19, didn't end up liking sex too much.......not sure if it was because it had been engrained into their brains that it was bad, bad, bad, or that their hubbies weren't doing it right..........by the way, I'm talking about my FEMALE friends - I don't think there's a guy on planet earth who doesn't like sex (except maybe Michael Jackson.......who was a JW at one time.....)
