So...Did Judas Leave Before the Lord's Evening Meal?
by undercover inyes, it's that time of year, once again, when the society starts reliving jesus' last few days on earth as a human.... in addition to all the propaganda about the 144,000 and only they being "allowed" to partake of jesus' blood and body at the annual jw deny christ ritual...another jw teaching, though not as dissected, is the teaching that judas iscariot left the room before the bread and wine were shared with the apostles.. it's important to jw doctrine that this be the case.
because only those who make up the true christian congregation, the annointed, the first of these the faithful apostles, are to partake of these emblems.
if jesus was already aware of judas' plan to betray him and yet judas was present for this new, important ritual, it would be rendered useless by his partaking.

OMG, that's awful!! I have a healthy fear of dogs and I remember when we would do country territory; if a dog came barking up to the car, I refused to get out.

There doesn't seem to be any direct evidence outside of the bible, that a million Israelites had been enslaved in Egypt for 400 years and then were able to leave, cross the Sea of Reeds and then wander around for 40 years without leaving any physical evidence. However, like many ancient stories (like Noah's Flood), it probably has a bit of truth in it and is based on some event that really did happen.
If you read the history of the Hyksos, I would venture a guess that the story of the Isrealites fleeing Egypt could have been loosely based on them, although the biblical version has been greatly enhanced. This is only an opinion though, and not written in stone.
For anyone interested in the Hyksos, there is plenty of information out there: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/judaica/ejud_0002_0009_0_09361.html

I got the dreaded call about the memorial
by thecrushed ini haven't been to the meetings in just about a full year and i get a call this morning from my dad inviting me.
his words were full of guilt trip.
he said he would like us to go as a family like i'm breaking it up if i don't go.

I haven't been to the meetings for about 6 years now and I try to avoid the Memorial at all costs. I thought I was going to be able to dodge it this year, but my elderly parents are post-poning their vacation so that they can go to their own Memorial. Which means I'll probably end up having to go unless I come down with the bubonic plague.
My parents are not fanatical Dubs, they know I think it's a crock, but they don't treat me (or any of my 'postate friends) any differently, so I will usually bite the bullet and go to the Memorial to make them happy. Funny, if they were fanatical Dubs, I wouldn't go no matter what they say.
Wait a minute......what are those spots all over my arms??!!!

Satan tries to distance us from Jehovah by moving us to make wrong choices.
That bastard! Good thing the Organization has never moved anyone to make a wrong choice:
"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. .....all evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. ....as a young person you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!"----Awake! 22 May, 1969, p15
One young man so passionately desired a particular tablet computer that he secretly sold one of his kidneys to buy it.
Then how did the Organization find out if he "secretly sold" it? Did the Angel Gabriel mention it in a Crooklyn boardroom meeting one day?
"..It is important, however, to avoid going to extremes...."
Ya. Like telling 7 million people that storing their own blood for a surgery that will save their life is the same thing as pouring out the blood of a dead animal that's about to become your dinner. Or telling men that if they ever want to be an MS or elder, they can't have a beard. Or telling a sister that if she doesn't scream while getting raped, It'll be viewed consensual sex on her part. Or telling parents and grandparents that they can no longer have anything to do with their child because they don't' want to be a Witness anymore. Yep. Good thing the Organization doesn't go to any extremes......."... Is it wise to risk unnecessary and potentially dangerous surgical procedures or medical treatments merely to make oneself more physically attractive?"
OK, that one took me by surprise. There must be a growing number of Dubs who do not want to get old in this System and who are trying to turn back the clock as though they'll never be old. Gee, I wonder where they could've got that idea from?
"...He does not want us to be falling asleep during meetings because of overwork or to be sitting in the Kingdom Hall worrying about money..."
Maybe people are falling asleep because the talk is boring as hell.....
"... Yet, many in the world around us believe that only by devoting themselves to making money can they have a secure future and take it easy later in life. They often push their children toward the same materialistic goal. Jesus showed that such thinking is unreasonable...."
Ya. How terrible to work hard now, buy a house, put monies towards a pension plan so that you actually ‘take it easy' when you're 75 or 80 years old. I can certainly see how angry that must be to Jesus.......
"...Ryan, a 32-year-old ministerial servant, relocated to a new congregation. "I expected to be recommended as an elder soon," Ryan relates, "but a year went by without that happening."
Obviously Ryan wasn't kissing enough ass from his new elder body, as nothing will get you made a member of the Club quicker than being a ‘yes-man' to your superiors. Shame on him!!

Who would want to have contact with family like that? --Not me
Unfortunately, I remember someone on this board who went and got reinstated a few years ago so he could have contact with his family who was 'just like that.' Bunch of self-righteous assholes didn't care one bit that he was driven to the brink of suicide. Ironically, they were fully aware that he was an apostate when he faked his reinstatement. The only thing that mattered was "appearances".

The ten most embarrassing scriptures for Jehovah's Witnesses
by slimboyfat in1. mark 7:15 "there is nothing from outside a man that passes into him that can defile him; but the things that issue forth out of a man are the things that defile a man.. so how can eating black pudding or having a blood transfusion be a sin?.
2. roman 14:5 one [man] judges one day as above another; another [man] judges one day as others; let each one be convinced in his own mind.
so how come they say birthdays and festivals are a sin?.

Here's a couple more:
Deuteronomy 14:21:
"YOU must not eat any body [already] dead. To the alien resident who is inside your gates you may give it, and he must eat it; or there may be a selling of it to a foreigner, because you are a holy people to Jehovah your God....
So I guess the law against eating unbled meat wasn't binding on the entire human race after all.......
Luke 24:39: "See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."
But because this would screw up one of their central doctrines, the WT insists that Jesus didn't know what he was talking about---he was raised a spirit whether he liked it or not.

Here's a couple:
Matthew 10:28: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
Luke 16:19-31: "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
"But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
"He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment. Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.' "‘No, father Abraham,' he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' "He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'"According to the WT, the bible does not teach about any afterlife (except for the blessed 144,000), but since this parable was apparently told before Jesus died and involved an Old Testament character (who they say is only entitled to an earthly resurrection) they do not have a reasonable explanation for it and will generally avoid it like the plague.
