  yes, it's that time of year, once again, when the society starts reliving jesus' last few days on earth as a human.... in addition to all the propaganda about the 144,000 and only they being "allowed" to partake of jesus' blood and body at the annual jw deny christ ritual...another jw teaching, though not as dissected, is the teaching that judas iscariot left the room before the bread and wine were shared with the apostles.. it's important to jw doctrine that this be the case.

  because only those who make up the true christian congregation, the annointed, the first of these the faithful apostles, are to partake of these emblems.

  if jesus was already aware of judas' plan to betray him and yet judas was present for this new, important ritual, it would be rendered useless by his partaking.

  There doesn't seem to be any direct evidence outside of the bible, that a million Israelites had been enslaved in Egypt for 400 years and then were able to leave, cross the Sea of Reeds and then wander around for 40 years without leaving any physical evidence. However, like many ancient stories (like Noah's Flood), it probably has a bit of truth in it and is based on some event that really did happen.

  If you read the history of the Hyksos, I would venture a guess that the story of the Isrealites fleeing Egypt could have been loosely based on them, although the biblical version has been greatly enhanced. This is only an opinion though, and not written in stone.

  I got the dreaded call about the memorial

  i haven't been to the meetings in just about a full year and i get a call this morning from my dad inviting me.

  his words were full of guilt trip.

  he said he would like us to go as a family like i'm breaking it up if i don't go.

  I haven't been to the meetings for about 6 years now and I try to avoid the Memorial at all costs. I thought I was going to be able to dodge it this year, but my elderly parents are post-poning their vacation so that they can go to their own Memorial. Which means I'll probably end up having to go unless I come down with the bubonic plague.

  My parents are not fanatical Dubs, they know I think it's a crock, but they don't treat me (or any of my 'postate friends) any differently, so I will usually bite the bullet and go to the Memorial to make them happy. Funny, if they were fanatical Dubs, I wouldn't go no matter what they say.

  Wait a minute......what are those spots all over my arms??!!!

  That bastard! Good thing the Organization has never moved anyone to make a wrong choice:

Like telling 7 million people that storing their own blood for a surgery that will save their life is the same thing as pouring out the blood of a dead animal that's about to become your dinner. Or telling men that if they ever want to be an MS or elder, they can't have a beard. Or telling a sister that if she doesn't scream while getting raped, It'll be viewed consensual sex on her part. Or telling parents and grandparents that they can no longer have anything to do with their child because they don't' want to be a Witness anymore. Yep.   Unfortunately, I remember someone on this board who went and got reinstated a few years ago so he could have contact with his family who was 'just like that.' Bunch of self-righteous assholes didn't care one bit that he was driven to the brink of suicide. Ironically, they were fully aware that he was an apostate when he faked his reinstatement. The only thing that mattered was "appearances".

  So I guess the law against eating unbled meat wasn't binding on the entire human race after all.......

  Luke 24:39: "See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."

  But because this would screw up one of their central doctrines, the WT insists that Jesus didn't know what he was talking about---he was raised a spirit whether he liked it or not.

  Matthew 10:28: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

  According to the WT, the bible does not teach about any afterlife (except for the blessed 144,000), but since this parable was apparently told before Jesus died and involved an Old Testament character (who they say is only entitled to an earthly resurrection) they do not have a reasonable explanation for it and will generally avoid it like the plague.
