Hi Cookie;
Here's a link with a lot of interesting information about the subject: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/best-of/76268/1/The-Best-of-Lee-Elder-Blood
during the years when i was an active jw i never questioned the ban on blood transfusion.
i have been inactive now for a number of years and even during those early years i reasoned i will never accept a blood transfusion.
however, thinking about it with an open mind, i question the current teaching of jw's on banning blood transfusion on any account even if it means saving a life.

hi folks.
i'm just curious as to whether anyone is experiencing any repercussions following the "human apostates" talk on the saturday of the district convention?.
my relatives will be attending soon, which makes me anxious.
I'll let you know tomorrow. I'm having dinner with my holier-than-thou-JW-cousin-who's-no-longer-gay (ya right) tonight as they're down for their ASSembly. I'm sure we'll hear all about the wonderful spiritual food that they partook of at Jehovah's table today.
with the huge floods in alberta the news now is starting to cover the issue of property damange and insurance.. we've never really thought a lot about insurance cover for flooding because it became a big issue in the uk about 5-10 years ago with limited land availability leading to building on flood plains and the eventual inevitable consequences and so when we bought over here we didn't buy anywhere that was a possible flood risk.
our choice seems to have worked out as we've been completely untouched by the recent issues but tragically, others have been less fortunate and apparently few people are covered for 'overland flooding' which is where water enters your house through doors and windows.. it's hard to really know what is fair.
i understand the reason why insurers don't cover it and the arguments on both sides.. one one hand, we included the flood risk when puchasing a home.
Glad to hear you guys are okay Simon. I was just watching the videos of downtown Calgary and thought of you and your family. Never thought I'd see Calgary under water!
I don't have flood insurance because if the waters ever got up to my house, you could kiss half of Southern Ontario good-bye. Either that or start building an ark. Normally when disasters like this happen, the government declares it a 'disaster zone' and provides monies to help people re-build.
to go in "service," "baptism," etc.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsqmosgj710
Oh god.....why do they keep embarassing themselves like this? I wonder how long it'll be before we see this one:
this subject came up with a friend of mine on facebook the other day.
he was never officially baptized as a witness and i believe he is now a born again christian.. does crooklyn consider someone an 'apostate' if you were never actually a full-fledged member but ended up leaving?
or are you just considered 'bad association'??

does anyone know where i can find this?
is there a pdf version of it anywhere to be found?.
.
I think I've got a copy downstairs somewhere but I'm not quite sure. Check Randy Watter's website (Freeminds.org) or jwfacts.com to see if they've got it.
funny picture in new public watchtower.
evidently there was a digital camera taking pictures about 3,500 years ago.
noah had family worship night in the ark, so all you slackers have no excuse!
Assuming for a moment that a worldwide flood actually happened 5,000 years ago as described in Genesis, I'm pretty sure that Noah & Co. would have had alot more important things to do. Like shovelling all the (literal) shit from human and animal alike fro the ship every single day. Plus they have to feed all the animals and cook for themselves every day. All the logistics that would have been involved would have been mind-boggling to say the least and would have taken a lot of their time. I sincerely doubt they would have had time for a frigging "Family Night" of worship.
Good lord, the Writing department gets crazier with each new picture they submit.
i notice reported in a number of posts that this seems to a bit of a mantra with the dubbies now, more so than ever in the past.. is this because they are getting desperate for the life they live as jw's to change ?
they don't really want to end their days with the constant drudgery of the jw life still going on, they want something different, but must "wait on jehovah".
sigh.. i wonder if this is a small opportunity for us to sow some small, niggling doubt, why not ask, when they spew out the "it is soooo close" nonsense:.
One of the elders (a former close friend) who came by to invite me to the Memorial last year, told me that it "didn't matter if Armageddon came in our life-time or not", when I had said that they've been telling people it's 'right around the corner' for the last 130 years. After he said that, I replied "if it doesn't matter if it comes in our life time, then why are you going out and telling people that it is!?"
Unfortunately, the idea that 'Armageddon is imminent' is the center of the Watchtower's universe and they can't let go of that without risking that their entire house of cards will collapse. Without that fear put into the R&F on a daily basis, the New & Improved Faithful Slave might lose authority of their 'domestics', and that has to be avoided at all costs.
I'm sure that in another hundred years, they will still be out their preaching about how 'close' everyone is to The End, with Field Serve-Us Reports still being handed in at the end of every month. A total waste of human time when you think about all the actual charity work that Witnesses could be involved in that might actually make a difference in peoples' lives.....
symposium: beware of apostates!.
satanhuman apostates also of interest ..... the truth brings "not peace, but a sword" .
JWB asked: Mary, how can you copyright 'the truth'?
Good question JWB, but unfortunately, the Borg cares nothing about what is 'the truth'. Eight years ago, a former poster on here who went by the name of Quotes, put a website together that only had quotes from the Craptowers own literature over the last hundred years. He was threatened with a lawsuit from Crooklyn for doing nothing more than quoting 'the truth'. Here are the links where you can read all about it:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/83334/1/Quotes-website-receives-Cease-Desist
As we all know, the Borg has a limitless supply of lawyers who were willing to drag this stuff out for years but the average person does not have the financial means to do the same. What was so hilarious is that in the brief that Crooklyn filed, it specifically said that Quotes' motive was to "embarass" them, apparently by their own hand. Since he didn't have the means to drag this through litigation, he took the site down but someone over in the UK took it up and it can be found here: http://www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/

How much do you wanna bet that Simon's going to get a notice telling him he has to take this thread down due to "copyright infringement"?
