It's always amazing how their drone like logic works: if they win a case in court, it's proof that Jehovah's blessing them, if they're exposed as hypocrites, liars, and pedophile protectors, then it's Satan attacking them.

Hardline on disfellowshipped ones
by eyeslice inonce again a hard line is being taken on shunning disfellowshipped and disassociated ones.
perhaps this is some sort of backlash against the recent adverse dateline publicity in the us, the forthcoming pananorama programme in the uk and problems with a number of influential ones leaving the organization.
the text below is from the august km insert and the meeting part is to be handled by a "well qualified" elder with the paragraphs being read by a "capable reader".

".....Jesus' words recorded at Matthew 18:17 also bear on the matter: "Let (the expelled one] be to you just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector." Jesus' hearers well knew that the Jews of that day had no fraternization with Gentiles and that they shunned tax collectors as outcasts. Jesus was thus instructing his followers not to associate with expelled ones...."
What a load of SHIT!! It's utterly amazing how the Writing Department twists the scriptures continuously to suit their own purposes. Since when did JW's ever compare themselves to 1st Century Jews?? They NEVER do because every article in the WT is always comparing Christendom to "unfaithful" Jews of that time, not themselves. And lest they forget, it was the Pharisees that condemned Jesus.......for what? For eating with the prostitutes and the TAX COLLECTORS!! Obviously Jesus did not condone prostitution or the thievery that went hand in hand with the title of "tax collector", but neither did he ever teach that these people were to be totally ignored as though they didn't exist either. That always came from the hypocritical, arrogant Pharisees who were possitive that they and they alone knew what was right.......What an example of history repeating itself!!

Elders Do Lie!
by ThiChi inelders do lie!
generally speaking, the trust factor that most rank & file jws have for their elders is very high.
like silent lambs post shows, most brothers take what the elders say as the last word in most matters.

Too bad their noses didn't grow every time they told a lie......
Here's another example of elders lying and covering their own asses;
Last year one of our elders admitted to his best friend that he had fooled around with his wife. This was confirmed by the wife. The elder in question is an extremely competitive man and couldn't resist letting his best friend know: I got your wife.
However, he didn't want to pay the consequences for his actions, because his position as an elder was VERY important to him, so he told the rest of the elders and the CO that this sister was "infactuated" with him, and that he had made the grave mistake of "leading her on". Of course, he totally denied committing adultery when asked and when the sister tried coming forth to admit adultery, the elders paid her a nice little visit and told her she'd be disfellowshipped for "gossip" and "slander" if she continued on this course. The reason they did this is obvious: if they dealt with her, then they'd have to deal with their good buddy too and they didn't want to do that. In fact, anyone who knew about it was viewed as "troublemakers" and many stopped going to the meetings altogether as they were so disgusted at what was going on. Naturally then, this meant that they were now considered either "inactive" or just plain "worldly" which meant of course that they were all lying. The elder who couldn't keep his pecker in his pants, was always at all the meetings, giving the most holy of answers and even pioneers like a good little Christian which of course means that HE must be telling the truth!
What a crew..................

What's the "need" of this gathe...
by beroea ineven posting not so often, but with pleasure and feed-back as well, i do wonder why former-jw and i as well with my own subjects - have this "need" to gather and to discuss subjects related to wt.
some seams to use close to hours each days in front of the computer.
i don't see many other web pages of former-catholics or former members of other religions (not of my knowledge - i can be wrong).

I never "joined" this religion, I was born into it and therefore, I never knew a different way of life. When I was a teenager, I believed this was the 'one true religion' 110% and would have (literally) staked my life on it at that time, even though I was vaguely aware of some inconsistencies in alot of the doctrines (the whole 1914 invisibility thing never sat right with me, even when I was 13 years old).
I remember always being sort of fascinated with so-called "apostate literature" - I was just DYING to know what they were saying about us that was so bad and so evil that it could seduce even the strongest of Christians to "deviate from the faith". I wasn't rebellious, I just wanted to show that I could read "apostate literature" and tear apart everything they said, which wouldn't be a problem seeing as I had "the truth". So I went to the local library one day and read that book by that sister who had been at Bethel. I can't remember her full name - Barbara something, but it was called "Visions of Glory".
I was in a state of shock by the time I had finished, because from what I could ascertain, there was nothing "apostate" in the book at all.....in fact, it had the ring of truth to it so I eventually read James Penton's book "Apocalypse Delayed". I was even more shocked when I was finished and now I had to face the unpleasant fact that my religion had lied to me.
I cannot describe the emotional and psychological pain this discovery has caused me over the years, and I probably should have gotten professional counselling for it as I was in a terrible state. At times I thought I was losing my marbles and that Satan had in fact, "snared" me into believing "apostate literature" that I should tell the elders what I had done, and ask them for their help in 're-programming' me..........however, I knew for a fact I would be disfellowshipped for reading this "apostate" stuff and I would never be trusted again so I said nothing to nobody.
Finding these sites where other Witnesses and ex-Witnesses have also gone through hell when they realized that our great and fearless leaders have no special connection with God, that they've lied, deceived, and manipulated millions in order to keep control, has been a god-sent. Makes me realize that it's not ME that's nuts after all.

JESUS NOT THE MEDIATOR?
by Mary inguess i hadn't been paying "close attention" at the meetings a few years ago......apparently, jesus is not the mediator between god and men like the bible says, he's only the mediator between the 144,000 and jehovah - i guess the rest of us can go straight to hell in a handbasket...... .
how long has this bizarre theory been around??!!
i was absolutely stunned to hear this one, as i had never heard it before.

FredHall said: "Answer these questions. What Covenant Jesus is the Mediator of ? And who is under this covenant? Who benefit from it?..."
Um, the scripture in question says NOTHING about a "covenant", Fred, or is English your second language and you can't comprehend this? It says "There is one Mediator between God and MEN, a man Jesus Christ." It doesn't say He's the mediator for only "some men" or "those in a Covenant", it simple says "MEN"......that goes along with the teaching that Jesus died for ALL mankind, not just for a select few intent on tooting their own horn while continuously trying to keep that foot on 6,000,000 necks........

News Flash! JW's Aren't Christians At All!
by LizardSnot inwhat qualifies jehovah's witnesses to call themselves christians?.
unlike other "bible-based" religions who believe in the divine nature of jesus;.
the watchtower bible and tract society claims that jesus christ is the savior .

Mary
"....What qualifies Jehovah's Witnesses to call themselves Christians?...."
Absolutely nothing, except their own belief that they and they alone are following Christ's example of preaching about The Kingdom of God.......even though their "message" is totally opposite of what Jesus taught.
"..... If JW's dont want to be associated with Christendom...why call themselves Christians?...."
Because they don't consider anyone else on planet earth Christians, no matter how good a person they were. If they haven't been a baptized JW, then they aren't Christian, end of story. Mother Theresa? Forget it, she's no different than Adolf Hitler in the JW mind.......a pedophile to still goes to the Meetings is more of a Christian than what Mother Theresa was........
Shows how warped the Witness idea of "Christian" is........

Rule No. 1: LIE...........tell them you're horrified at your behaviour, and that even though Jehovah may forgive you, you find it hard to forgive yourself. This will impress the elders as they are looking for weak minded people with low self-esteem that they can control and dominate. And nothing makes an elder feel better than pointing out flaws in others - it makes them feel that all the child molesting they've been doing, isn't really that bad compared to whatever you did..................
Tell them that you miss going out in service (only an elder would actually believe this) and the association of the brotherhood. This will give them the impression that being cut off from your family and friends is a deterent from you ever sinning again and therefore, they won't see you as a threat.
Depending on what type of people these elders are (are they young, new elders, or old fashioned elders?), you might let your eyes well up with tears, but try not to "cry" too much.......just enough to make them think that you're really changed...........if they're older elders with old-fashioned ideas, try to convince them that not only have you changed, you've gone a step further in "pummelling your body". For example, if you got DF'd for committing fornication, you tell them that not only have you stopped fornicating, but you've also trained your mind so that you don't even "look at a woman with passion in your heart".
They'll most likely fall for all this, if you can do it with a straight face. Let us know how it goes.
