Yep, I was considered a "good example".........always regular in service and at meetings, gave good comments, pioneered, was single, parts at the assemblies.............
Now I'm a poster for "Don't Let This Happen To You.........."

have you ever had to deal with the thought that you really weren't that good of an example?
perhaps, the congregation was encouraged to pioneer or reach out for bethel service or go to seldom worked territory, etc.
and when you applied, you were told that you didn't qualify.

it's interesting to see a whole time magazine devoted to end time hysteria without one reference to jehovah's witnesses.
without a "date" to look forward to jw's are just another religion.
they have quit setting dates.
Their "date-setting" is hopfully, gone with the wind..............history shows that most religions can only date-set 3 times before everyone looses faith in them. The JW is remarkable for one thing: they've date-set alot more than 3 times, and yet the majority of Witnesses still believes this is "the truth", lock stock and barrel.
Their date-setting is like dangling the carrot in front of the donkey.........the donkey will plod along for quite a while, thinking that the carrot is just out of reach and that if he perseveres, he'll eventually get it. However, sooner or later, the donkey gives up, realizing that the carrot will always be "just out of reach" and that he'll never get it.
and can the wt learn from other churches?.
the general conference of adventists held in toronto canada.
no adventist will ever be disfellowshiped again.. voted to change the term "disfellowshiped" to 'remeoved from membership".
The Governing Body will NEVER get rid of Disfellowshipping......NEVER.
To them, it's THE most effective way to keep control of everyone's lives and there's no way they'll ever give that up. Think about it:
If you were no longer disfellowshipped for questioning them and alot of their ridiculous interpretations of the scriptures, then what could they possibly threaten you with? If you didn't have the threat of being cut off from all your family and friends if you decided to go public with your knowledge about pedophiles in the congregation, then probably even more Witnesses would be coming forth.
What I find interesting, is that they use the scripture that says: Let him be as a man of the nation, or as a tax-collector."
HEL-LOOOOO.........Jesus ATE with the tax collectors, he never shunned them!! Where the hell do they get that you're not supposed to speak to these people???
my jw dad called me this morning and told me that he found my jw uncle dead, face-down on the floor in his home.
he's taking it hard.
i was shocked to hear him say that he wanted me to be with the family.
Oh geeze, that's awful.........I'm so sorry to hear that. Do they know what he died from?
as any of us who have been to a funeral for a faithful jw know, the deceased "made a good name" with jehovah for all their faithfulness, etc.
and they are assured of getting a resurrection here on earth (unless they were baptized before 1935) where they'll live forever in paradise.. i recently asked a witness friend about this, as an old brother who had been a witness since wwii recently passed away.
i asked "doesn't john 5:28 promise a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous?".
FREDHALL WROTE: ".....Are you going to tell us not to have relationship with God and Christ? I don't know about you Mary but, if I die today, I hope I have a good relationship with them....."
Fred, as per the troll you are, you are twisting the words to say something stupid, which seems to be your goal in life. Did I say anything about not having a relationship with God and Christ? If you bothered to do your research though, you'd realize that the average Dub is not allowed to have a "personal relationship" with God and Christ; after all, according the the Borg, Christ is only the Mediator for 144,000, not for "man" in general, like the bible says.
My point was: if a JW died today, he or she is given the exact same hope as someone who is Catholic or Protestant or Mormon or Athiest, according to the JW teaching: life on a paradise earth. So if the hope is the same, then why the hell would anyone bother putting themselves through all the man made rules that the Society teaches are necessary.......

I recently asked a Witness friend about this, as an old brother who had been a Witness since WWII recently passed away. I asked "doesn't John 5:28 promise a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous?"
"Oh yes, it does" was the reply.
"So what about someone else that was in their 70s or 80s who was a Catholic or a Protestant who died recently too. Will they get a resurrection?" I asked
"Oh yes, they'll get a resurrection too and they'll be given the opportunity to serve Jehovah." was the reply.
Then I moved in for the zinger........I asked:
"So really, it doesn't matter if you're a Witness or a Catholic, you BOTH get the same resurrection??!! If that's the case, why should anyone kill themselves going to 5 meetings a week, studying like mad and going out in Service all the time, if you can get the same reward for not doing this???"
Apparently, this had never crossed this brothers' mind before and he didn't know what to respond. He mumbled something (not sure what) and just turned and walked away, but boy oh boy, could I ever see the wheels turning in his mind!!
Has anyone else ever asked a Witness this question? Apparently, none of them stop to really think about it............
i received a few inquiries on my last post regarding a weight watchers thread.. well, i joined weight watchers.
they have a system called 123 success.
it seems pretty simple.. it cost $99 to join for 10 weeks including the joining fee.. i'll be glad to share all of the information on how to count points & all.. you start off with a weight loss of 10% of your current weight.
Having struggled with weight most of my life, I'm proud to say that I've joined a gym where I try to work out 4 - 5 mornings per week..........I'm up to 40 minutes a day! When I first started about 4 weeks ago, I could do the stationary bike for about 4 minutes as my larger-than-life-ass couldn't take any more.........now I do the stationary bike for about 15 minutes, and then do some weight training for about 20 - 25 minutes...........yep, I should be a size 7 again by Friday.........hahahahaha!!!
I figure it'll take about a year for me to lose the weight.......I'm also trying to be good and drink 8 glasses of vodka........I mean WATER, per day.
I was thinking of trying the 123 Weight Watchers program, but I just can't afford it right now. However, my one girlfriend has all the info on it, so I suppose I could take a look.
I don't believe the line of crap they give us about "well, when we were cavemen, our bodies always stored the fat in case of famine and it's still doing that today." Well, seeing as we obviously aren't in starvation mode any longer, our bodies should have evolved enough to say "hey! I don't need to hold on to this fat, cause the next meal is right around the corner!"
i would have to say the worst (aka: funniest) thing i ever did at a meeting was when i sat with the circuit overseer and his wife (many moons ago......) .
anyway, he was really prim and proper and she was of course, a very submissive wife who barely spoke without her husbands permission.
anyway, he goes to the platform and starts off by asking th audience: who was ahab?

There was a pause, so I whispered to Mrs. CO: "Didn't he kill Moby Dick?"
Well oh my god.......she started laughing and laughing and then tried to stop......and then started again.........you know it's a thousand times worse when you're not supposed to be laughing, right? So then I started laughing and needless to say, Hubby was not impressed. I guess he demanded to know what she was laughing at during the meeting when she was supposed to be worshipping him; she told him and I think he told her she was forbidden to ever sit near me again (giggle!)
I'd love to hear what anyone else did at the Hall that brings back memories!!!
i used to hate the kingdom melodies, but maybe i did like one or two i think one was called "apostates on the march" @ i feel so human
I liked Number 4: God's Promise of Paradise......very nice tune.......
One I never liked is Number 6: Declare the Everlasting Good News......I think they should change the lyrics to:
A-round the Hall with ur-gen-cy, the el-ders fly............
With ev-er-las-ting bad new for the Date-line crime.......
They say 'Give Glory and fear us upon our throne........
Yes worship lo-cal elders and serve theeeem a-loooooone........
For now has come the Borg's most awsome Judgement Hour.......
Soon all the TV networks news will make them scowl.......
According-ly the brave at heart they must not fear..........
But speak out boldly what you know, both far and near!

do you think that, if say you fell over and and seriously injured yourself in the street, would a jw you knew passing by help you knowing that you were disfellowshipped or so called apostate.
maybe even come to see you at home if you were unwell or depressed,i mean how many witnesses have assisted or helped you when you needed it mostly, you see i thought they were supposed to encourage you to become so called spiritually stronger.but saying that when you were active as a jw do you think you were helped in times of distress or illness by your fellow jw,for instance i know a woman who's still a witness but hasnt been to meetings for say a year and thats because she has severe athritis and guess what only 1 j-dub has wrote to her so to her it seems like if your not a regular at meeting you may as well be classed as disfellowshipped.
You will occasionally get Witnesses who will still try and help out "inactive" ones, but they are in the minority. On the whole, if you're not regular at the meetings, they don't give a rat's ass if you fall over dead in the street. And they almost certainly would not come to your help if you were viewed as an "apostate."
Forget the example of the Good Samaritan, Witnesses don't want to hear about it. Jews and Samaritans hated each other with a passion. The Jews' own people pass him by and won't lift a finger to help (no doubt, he was probably viewed as an apostate, too). But this man's so-called "enemy", put himself out, cleaned his wounds, paid for him to stay and the Inn, paid for the innkeeper to do anything necessary for him.
In my opinion, THIS is what Jesus wants his followers to do, not go banging on the same damn doors, century after century, telling everyone how they're going to die any day now!!!
Witnesses are identical to the Pharisees of Jesus' day. They are arrogant, full of themselves, worried about the most "miniscule part of their laws" while "ignoring the weightier matters of the law", they are hypocritical, deceitful, and care only for their position and outward appearances. They certainly don't like it when someone comes along and exposes them for what they truly are and they'll do anything to get rid of that person, even if they have to sneak about at night.........
So in a nutshell, I would say: NO, Witnesses will not help apostates. They're too busy patting themselves on the back for hiding another pedophile................
