I find it pathetic and utterly nauseating that when other religions change their doctrines, they're obviously guilty of false prophecying, but when the GB changes their doctrines, it's called "adjusting" or "new light". Gimme a f%#king break.........

It would have been highly unlikely that anyone would have openly questioned either of these guys because unofficially, they were viewed at the top of the F&DSC. Anyone questioning them would have been subjected to the ol' example of those that "murmured against Moses". That's how frigging arrogant they were.
And don't forget for a moment that when push came to shove, Fredrick Franz stood there and watched his nephew, his own flesh and blood, be booted out of the organization without a moments hesitation, because he knew through study that alot of what they, the Governing Body, in particular, Fredrick Franz himself were teaching, was simply not true. I shudder at the display of such loyalty to a false prophet......

jw kids = "children of the corn".
growing up as a j-dub, i have seen all of the special treatment most jw kids and elders kids recieved in general.
while, no you were not allowed to celebrate holidays, etc, being a jw child meant you could do no wrong.
Growing up as a Witness sucked - we were excluded from EVERYTHING that was fun......although our elders tried to fill in the blanks with having costume parties that were a scream, 50's dances and picnics and parties for the young ones, Headquarters soon put a stop to that. Costume parties were banned because "Would Jesus go to a Costume Party"? Also, any parties were to be kept small - nothing over 25 people, because then the chaperones "couldn't keep an eye on everyone"........basically, everything that was fun was banned thanks to the assholes at the top.
Although my family doesn't "officially" celebrate XMas or other holidays, I get both my parents birthday cards (plus my one sister) and I buy Christmas gifts for all my apostate friends and some co-workers.........

I believe it's a combination of people's ignorance, lack of education and the desire for a shortcut to easy wealth. Seeing as Witnesses are strongly discouraged from getting an education, hard work ethics or even being able to think for themselves, alot of Witnesses are an easy dupe.
Some brother who cleans floors for a living, has a wife who doesn't work plus two or three kids........yep, he'd be an easy target. These multi-level selling traps promise enormous wealth with virtually no effort necessary....for someone with limited education, a dead-end job and bills piling up to the heavens, they're more than willing to believe this crap.
