It's funny you bring that up, I was just thinking about that this afternoon. When I was younger, my dad told me that proved to him that it was 'inspired by God' and that the WTS were 'inspired by God' because professional literature, text books, etc make mistakes. (My parents still go to meetings).

No typos or grammatical errors ever????
by StAnn inseems to me that, despite the fact that the content of the wts literatrash is crap, i've never seen a typo or grammatical error in the lit.
anybody ever noticed this or ever found instances of errors?
and, if there are no errors, how do they manage that?

Did your congregation have "Talent" Shows?
by lepermessiah ini saw this video on youtube and didnt know if i should laugh or crawl into the fetal position.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abm0t-qhllc&feature=related.
.
we had several "talent" shows over the years in my original congregation - it was the only annual gathering more nauseating that the meetings.. my friend and i would always bring our walkmans and blare heavy metal in the back - hoping to block out the embarassing crap on the stage.you always had a few older ones get up on stage and slaughter a kingdumb song.

A talent show?! My halls did nothing of the sort. Maybe that's a good thing... The only thing they ever did was have bible parties where everyone would dress up like a character and act out some scriptures. My sister and I were never invited to these when we were young. I feel so left out!

Thank you for sharing, I also really enjoyed your post.
That's really sad about the meals for the man with cancer... in my old congregation there was a lady who's husband was dying of cancer, and the bookstudy conductor mentioned making meals for them as it was a difficult time. Some sisters decided amongst themselves to make one meal each, which gave them food for a couple of days, but after that they were on their own. It's sad when you see people jump up to 'look good' and they do their one good deed and then they don't feel the need to help anymore. The lack of love shown is really discouraging and sad.
Looking forward to reading more of your posts

My friend took the pharmacy tech course online (in Canada from a neighboring city's college) and it was very reasonably priced. She had the certification in one year as well as did a practicum at a hospital and was offered 3 jobs right after. She was also able to work at a different job while she was taking the course.

This Week's Article - Young People's Baptism
by jgnat inthis is the first study article from the april 15, 2010 watchtower, titled "young people - strengthen your desire to serve jehovah.
" i hit paragraph four and i just had to pause to comment.
i am pretty darn sure this is a softening of the jehovah's witness stance regarding the appropriate age for baptism.

There were a few years at my circuit assembly where no one was baptized. They changed the talk so that everyone could reflect on their dedication, and they read the questions at the end so all of us could re-affirm. I got baptized when I was 19 despite all the years of 'positive peer pressure' from the elders, I'm curious to know what the numbers will be like this year. Too bad I don't go anymore to be able to see

District Conventions: The Single People/Wanna Be Married Opportunity
by mentallyfree31 inas the conventions started today in my home state, i can't help but think of the hundreds of jw young people that i know who are still single, esp those over 25. it's really sad that for so many this is their only chance of finding somebody to date.
some that i know have even crossed over into their 30's, and they go year after year, always talking about the possibility of meeting someone special.. the organization literally controls their minds, and dating and marriage to a non-jw is out of the question.
it's so sad that so many have missed out on their life's dreams of having a family and companionship.

I remember checking out all the guys- nothing ever amounted to anything. I'm embarrassed to think how much of a 'meat market' it was because it only happened once a year, and if you didn't meet a guy- you knew some other girl would snap him up. In my circuit there was a lack of guys, lots of girls but no guys. Several of my former friends are still single. (And then there are those who are waiting for their 'perfect mate' in the New System... Glad I am living my life now).
I don't miss those days!

Why are they so anal about assembly badges?
by highdose inthey insist you must wear you and whats more it must be placed in clear view for everyone else to see.. i have been challenged before now " sister!
are you wearing your badge!?
" it made me wonder why?

As a kid I always had to wear one, but my parents generally didn't put one on. When I got to be a teen I filled them out and maybe stuck them on my book bag- but wouldn't wear one. At one convention, an older sister told my friend and I that if we didn't have them on, we wouldn't be able to meet new friends, or a potential marriage mate. I would rather someone come up and ask me my name and introduce themselves, then just read it off a label. It still didn't convince me to put it on. (Even now at work I refuse to wear a name tag.)
After I left, I was working at a retail store- and during the summer there were many weekends of conventions. There were so many JW's (even kids and teens!) that came in wearing their modest jeans and T-shirts, with their badge cards attached. It made me feel sad to see that. Some even talked to me about the convention, showed me their name tag and talked about where they were from, and one person invited me to the drama the next day. I wonder if I was ever used as an 'experience', heehee.
