i remmember the idea that god has been around forever, to be a bit confusing as a witness.. does this really make sense?.

heres two reason why it doesn't.. 1.what was the first thing god did?.

so either it wasn't the first thing , if there is not a first thing god did see point 2,or god had a begining.

We can't comprehend much at all about God with what we have to work with so far. When we ask your question our limited minds imagine either a sweaty Henry Adams feverishly working with unrelenting zeal, or maybe a 300 pound eigth wonder of the world sitting in front of a TV with a can of beer watching cartoons. Our vision is limited to human experience, to which I certainly hope God is not limited.

So-called Bible Scholars........

it is not a difficult thing to do to criticize wts literature, however i found this comment in a recent wt very enlightening as it seems to explain the unscholarly nature of much of what they produce.

it also is an object lesson on how to manipulate a conditioned group of people by the use of 'trigger words'.

i have highlighted these expressions, which are deliberately used by writing, as we have previously discussed to 'encourage' the readers to adopt a patently flawed line of reasoning.

This is the most obvious attack on the scholars I have seen. Thanks for pointing it out.

For many years I took my laptop to the meetings so I could use PC Study Bible by Bible Soft. Its a fairly expensive Bible research program with about 8 Bible translations and many Bible commentaries all hyperlinked to the scripture you had referenced. When the CO wanted me out, the fact that I opened my laptop during the meetings was one of his charges against me. Try to find a scriptural precedent for that.

There are several of these programs available FREE of charge and they are better then the one I purchased. Recently someone here set us onto Esword

i was what they call disfellowshipped or shunned by the tender age of 15. i haven't spoken to anyone on my dad's side of the family other than my dad for over 11yrs.

they refuse to have anything to do with me because of their religion.

I have only seen Dr. Phil once but I don't care who you write. I think writing your experiences and feelings are good for you. You have something to say too.

As to those buggers 'excorting' you out of your cousins wedding, that was just plan wrong even by the twisted WT standards, unless the wedding was in the home of a JW.

You seem to be recovering from such harsh treatment dealt a young child. Hope you seperate God from the ungodly treatment you recieved.

Have You Lost Your Mind?

its funny when you think about what the dubs say about us, if they know we are out of the org.

for not believing anymore, they think we have lost our minds, that we are crazy, mentally corrupt.

even if one repents and goes back to the borg he is watched like a hawk.. but now if one has sex with a goat or he runs off with another woman and leaves behind his wife and children to provide for themselves, or he screws you out of your money and leaves you broke, but repents he was not crazy, it was a moment of weakness.

Hello Fire Dragon,

Since leaving the borg I have been taken off of both the antipsychotic and the antianxiety drugs. And my dosage on the antidepressant has been lowered TWICE!!

I love hearing experiences like this. I wish someone would write a book compiled with personal stories of recovering X-JWs.

I was suidical several times over the years but kept plugging along as a Bethelite or elder. I use to go through a 600 capsule bottle of TUMS every month until I resigned as PO. I have to admit finally letting go of my desperate grip on faith in the organization and leaving has not been without depression. But this is normal with the grief of loss.

Hope you keep improving, Fire Dragon.

Good point. They think that it is such an intellectual decision to become a JW that only someone of unsound mind would leave. As with all mind control groups the once intellectual gives up his right to think as a sacrifice of loyalty to the unity of the cause. The 'group think' is esteemed as superior to our 'own understanding'.

SO NOT THINKING IS THE INTELLECTUAL THING TO DO

TO THINK ON YOUR OWN AGAIN IS THE IGNORANT COURSE.

Seriously, in the US a short trimmed full beard or trimmed Gotee is cool ( or is Goatie)

On the other hand, having a beard confirms in the JW mind you have lost it. Your wife might feel the same way. Not that she might also be a little disturbed that you are going to a church in Christendom.

I like number 4 if it is trimmed off the neck and well groomed.

Really enjoyed visiting last week.

once again a post brought back memories of a jw story or perhaps urban legend.

) 1975-79. eastern us story/legend.. i recall the story as going something like this.

About 17 years ago I was working as a temporary worker at Bethel in the Furman Street buildings and they had the famous chandelier two floors down being refurbished. I was told of its uniqueness and value but failed to appreciate what others saw in it.

A couple of years latter the family visited the Stanley Theater and saw the unsettling fervor over the MATERIAL gains obtained serendipitously in the purchase of the Stanley. I saw the tears in the eyes of the sister traveling with us who now professes to be of the 'anointed'.

The Stanley purchase and the building of the Paterson complex are landmark accomplishments of the New Governing Body since 1980. These represent to me a new phase in the evolution of the 'movement' from semi-spiritual institution to a material institution claiming to be spiritual. Very materialistic since this change, yet still brings tears to the eyes of their followers.

Great pictures, and the movies were expecially inspiring. Joy and I felt that Sunday was probably the best time in our lives. I was not only great putting faces to names, but everyone seemed so beautiful and have sweet personalities. Simon and Angharad are surprisingly young folks, Ballitic is not at all ballistic but actually very soft spoken and humble, Celtic was exactly what we expected. In a later post I will tell everyone how surprised I was from what I expected of you, Eman.
