now this is really funny, why , well he writes as if he is talking to NONJW and so on the surface it sounds reasonable ,but he like so many other jw forget that WE ALL KNOW THE RULES both Written and Unwritten
allow me to give you just an example

Assuming that Friend is an Elder

What do you think would happen to Friend----if Friend Decided on his own to work at a Rape Crisis Center/ Homeless shelter, etc, just ONE , NOT 2 BUT ONE SAT out of the month between the hours of 9AM and 12AM

now we all know that as soon as it was Known among the congo/CO/DO and Lord have Mercy if the boys Down the Hill/Up in Patterson found out about.

would he be:

1. commended for taking time out of his personal schedule to do such a deed

2. be allowed to quit- if he wanted to continue/Serve- (yes we see that Serving Phrses come up again)

you see Friend you don't have any Freedom despite your wonderful claim for we all know that "IF" you are an elder you would be Shafted for doing such a thing

while "Normal" folks would be commended- your COMMUNITY AS you like to refer to it WOULD DOG YOU

now you can play games with the type of assistance you offer to others who are not JW , but everyone who reads this post will get the point even if you don't

and that is so sad

Once again we another example of slicing a Hair off the leg of a fly.

it is due to this type of Mindset that many of the Movers and Shakers have at Bethel that Highlites just how out of touch they are with just plain talk among reg folks-

his mindset is due to the yrs of training that wt gives it's upper status elders.

here we see a simple statment transformed into LEGAL JARGON

and if you followed the last thread that was the CONSTANT THREAD

the Legalism/Technical manner in which everything is done

allow me to give you an example -

in elders school our instructor spent a ton of time on explaining to 900 elder mostly married men--the difference between the charges that would be brought up against a bro who "RUBBED A SISTER'S BREAST" AND "Momentary Touched it"

It is due to such legal/technical jargon that one quickly sees that wt has nothing to do with /god , but is merely another Inc corporation with a very large EMPLOYEE HANDBOOD

Considering your penchant for using common terms in an uncommon way, please explain what you mean by "serving the Watchtower" and "its works ." Then we will see if your assertion above can be evidenced as meaningful or not.

If this poor man is sincere , then you can only feel sorry for him- awhile back over on H20 I went around the barn with Friend on how the avg jw elder would have his Elder Strips snatched from him if it became known that he disagreed with the Society and his response to me was that he had shared his views and in fact his "Privileges" were not removed but was increase/ more talks/assignments, etc

so yes whether you want to admit it or not

EACH ASSIGNMENT YOU get- be it --Public talk/ CA/ District Part/ Special Assembly Day part/ Instructing Elders school/ or serving on ANY COMMITTEE is just another example of you "SERVING the Society"

and what is so funny about it is WE ALL KNOW IT!!!!!!! AND either he refuses to acknowledge it for what it is or is just plain Blind and Deaf

The well's drying up

last weekend we had dinner with my wife's family.

they had just "enjoyed" their circuit assembly.. their circuit met in two halves over two weeks (avoids the mad scramble to the dining room that way).

total baptized for the entire circuit (a city circuit)?

i can see it now the attendants rope off 3/4 rows of seats like they always do and only one 13yr Elders kids shows up for the talk and the 2 questions- the poor speaker has an audience of 1-

OK, counting spouses and those who are asleep or have gone to special assignments, but leaving out those who no longer associate....
4 grandparents,
2 parents,
2 great-uncles,
3 great-aunts,
4 uncles,
10 aunts,
11 first cousins,
11 of my parents' cousins,
19 other cousins

that makes 66, if I have not forgotten any.

The Society, Race, and an always white Adam.

okay, it's an old question but we haven't examined it here yet so let's have your thoughts.. adam was the progenitor of the whole human race, from his genes sprang the negroid, caucasian, mongoloid, indo-european and every other race on the planet.. the hebrew people were not selected as jehovah's chosen nation until abram had found favour with god so presumably all races were equal in his eyes before then [as indeed they always have been].. so then, what basis is there, if any, for deciding what adam and eve's skin colour may have been?.

could they not indeed have been black?.

this is a pointless discussion i grant you.

as a black man, when i was at bethel we used to ask that same question
there were 2 well known black bros who worked in Writing Ray Richardson and JR BRown now the new PR Dir

so a few of us guys asked them why as well and they both said basically the same thing- it is due to the common view of the masses and how they would accept the message better, blah blah blah

if any of you recall the "1914 Generation" wt back in 1984 on the cover were all these older white bethelites who were pictured as making up the 1914 generation.

well at the time i was assigned to a congregation in Harlem "World Headquarters of Black Folks"

well the pioneer sisters were dogged by the Black Muslims( Louis Farakan members) for walking around with a mag that had ALL WHITE folks on the cover- it was real sad for 2weeks trying to place that mag in Harlem- and when they do street work they use the little clear plastic sleeve and it was so sad

so as balck witenesses you just accepted that the Society knew what was best for you

i too had a friend who got the shaft in behalf of wt rules only to find out that wt blamed him for going to jail

today he is an emotionally broke man

it is hard many times when you see guys like Friend not get the connection between:

being directed by god on matters that deal with folks lives and
