some people say "hovah' "jehoovah", etc.
or they'll say instead of jehovah's witnesses, "hovies"....etc.. do you think that it's appropriate?.
When I was a kid they said it was impolite for children to call adults by their first name. Until an adult said it was OK to use their name, we were to say Mr or Mrs. or Brother or Sister.
I asked....how come it's OK to call God by his name....but not adults??
what is the policy for disfellowshipped people in your family for when they get sick?
for instance.
let's say your disfellowshipped son/daughter gets seriously sick and needs someone to help take care of this.
My son was diagnosed with Cancer a couple of months after he and his Fiance' went on thier own, to the elders and were DF'd. Not wanting to add to our worry, he ignored his symptoms and didn't tell us about them for 3 weeks while he waited on pins and needles for the Elders to get around to making a decision. We nursed him through his surgery and chemo alone, including a stint in the isolation unit...no relatives or friends came to our aid, only evil" worldly" workmates offered any sympathy or help. Regular Pioneer Grandmother, Bethelite Uncle, JW Aunts Uncles and Cousins turned their backs on us and took the word of men they didn't even know, over their own flesh and blood they had known since birth. We realized that if our son didn't make it...we would be alone to bury him and it would be a very lonley occasion indeed. That was the beginning of the end for us as far as JW's and their "loving" arrangements is concerned.
i dont know if this thread is going to offend anyone...but whenever i was a kid, and i thought about 'jehovah distroying everything' i always used to think about that song 'rock the cabash' by the clash, (and later willeinum by will smith).

This song was a big hit when I was a kid during the big 1975 hysteria. It used to scare the heck outta me whenever it came on the radio especially at the 1:40 mark where they say the word Seventy Five. It was always the song that reminded me of the big "A" A lot of Witnesses tought this song was significant.

i have to ask is it true that white blood cells are passed to a baby when breastfeeding?
if it is true then surely jw's cannot breastfeed..
This discovery COULD be what the WT based their decision to allow the use of blood fractions on. They MAY have reasoned that since the white cells are consumed during breast feeding ,which is allowed by God, white cells on their own must not be the same as whole blood, therefore blood fractions aren't whole blood either and wouldn't fall under their understanding of abstaining from blood.
The only thing is, in order to utilize blood fractions for medical purposes, someone had to donate and store the blood from which the allowable blood fractions were extracted from. That in itself goes against their understanding of the proper use of blood.
As an example of Theocratic or spiritual warfare I remember them using the example of when Abraham, in order to spare his own life, told King Abimelech that his wife Sarah was his sister. King Abimelech took Sarah for himself but spared Abraham because he was her brother.
Sarah was Abrahams half sister as well as his wife....so it wasn't a total lie but it was a withholding of information so as to lead Abimelech to the conclusion they wanted him to.
A modern day example would be when Witnesses work in apartment buildings or neighborhoods where they aren't allowed in. They go in under some false premise, once in, they go from door to door for as long as they think it's safe to do so without getting tossed out.

a common attitude among ex-jw's is that the watchtower will face collapse only when the money dries up - i disagree.
What's the big need to bring em' down, all about? Would it make one more sure about ones own decision to leave. Isn't it enough for one just to leave and be done with it ? If they dissapeared tomorrow, would all be right with the world ? What would one have left to talk about ?

i know this is a pointless question, but what if this happened:.
you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.
there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.
What if they are right...what have I ever done that would warrant destruction and everlasting cutting off...the same punishment that Axe Murderers, Hitler and Unwed Mothers will get?
Speaking of Hitler, I would have been more concerned 65 years ago when I heard how he was burning Jews by the millions, in ovens. Bombs were being dropped around the clock all over Europe. And the whole world was at war. Guess it has to get worse than that before it's really the big A.
if god can read our hearts, why does he need an additional 144,000 creatures in heaven along with the already existing myriads of angels, to assist jesus in separating the sheep from the goats?
is there any scriptural answer for this that you know of?.
I thought the teaching was that the 144,000 would be men and womeh from all walks of life so that they could understand a wide range of human experiences and therefore judge them fairly. The thought just occured to me today that God or Jesus shouldn't need help in this if they can read an individuals heart. (whatever that means in reality) This arrangement was obviously made after Adam and Eve sinned because had that not happened, there would be no need for these 144,000 in heaven.

Yep...always hated that question. Like Teel said, asking a Witness if he's a Jehovah is like asking a Lutheran if he's a Luther.
That question reminded me of when I called on a Russian lady once. When she opend the door she asked in a heavy Soviet accent.... " Are you Yakov Vitness ?? my friend sheepishly said " kind of " and then the woman slammed the door.
A kid on our block called my sister a Jehovah's S--tness once. My brother and I thought it was hilarious but my Mom marched over there and read his Mom the riot act.
