I remember when Communism ended in Russia, many felt like orphaned children and longed for the old days. Empty store shelves and standing in long lines for poorly made bread and fear of their government was preferable for those who were afraid of living without constant direction from authority. For them, the end of Communism didn't improve their lot but that doesn't mean it was a mistake to end it. Many women in abusive relationships are better off economically if they stay with the abusive spouse. All they have to do is keep their head down, don't make waves, nod in agreement and hope for the best.

Are you sure leaving the JW religion has made your life better?. Lurkers think twice
by mankkeli inon this forum, i have carefully read most of the experiences of those who left the jw religion, i have even read experiences that have dated back to 2001, i have read the different circumstances surrounding their exits and what ensued upon leaving.
for the majority, i observed they are better remainning in the religion than leaving.
what benefit is there to strain family relationship because you want to be free?, please tell me, of what value is that freedom?,.

What could make me believe in God?
For starters, a clear, easy to understand, no nonsense set of instructions as to what he wants from us and an explaination of how we got here and where we are going, would have been nice.

What do you think of this video

I couldn't help but think that if this happened to a Witness, it would wind up in a year book or she would be on the district assembly telling how jehovah's spirit saved her and a "study was started" We know it's only a coincidence that the robber left because Jehovah doesn't help worldly people.
This really could have gone very wrong...especially when she kept interupting him and when she said he had beautiful eyes...he could have suddenly realized that she would be able to identify him easily.

How many double agents are there?
by logical1 inhow many are there on this board that are also still in the society, especially acting in a position of leadership?
i think it's pretty funny they always talked about how "jehovah would root out the wickedness" yet theres people on here getting invites to "zone visits" that many other blind and faithful people weren't invited to.. .
if any of you are on your way out and have the ability to give a talk before you go, you should cratifly morph a talk into discussion about the origins of the society, by the time its obvious what you're doing you will have given 100-150 people seeds of doubt before they yank you off the stage, and the fact that they would be physically escorting you off the stage when you were simply talking about the "founder" of the society should be alarming and suspicious enough to those watching.. .

Me and a buddy recently discussed actually getting "reactivated" again by going out in service; except we would just work together.
At our doors, we would share
the real truth about the WT. It was actually kind of fun to imagine doing so... and I must admit, it's mighty tempting.
You wouldn't have to become 'reactivated" It would be easy enough for you to follow a car group to the territory and knock on the same doors that were just called on, or the ones just ahead of where they are working and tell the householders your experience with the Witnesses or show them some of their old literature predicting the end of the world decades ago.

The easy way out
by logical1 inbackground on me: mid 20's, raised as jw, never baptised.. .
a month or so ago, some jw's were calling on my street, i missed them at my door, but they had parked in front of my house while they hit up the rest of my block.
while they were at my neighbors door, i thought to myself "what is the easiest non-threatening simple message i could write on a piece of paper that would essentially give them "apostate" information, without them realizing what it was and shutting down?".

In addition to what you said, I might have mentioned that the Watchtower Organization is constantly exposing the pagan origins of other religions and their beliefs. I might have asked them why isn't it important to them to know that the founder of thier own organization was involved in practices that are based in pagan beliefs yet calimed to be directed by God?

How Would You Answer...?
by EmptyInside ini'm wondering what to reply to someone who said the main message of the "truth" is the same.
that jehovah is god and he sent his only-begotten son to die for us,so that,we could have everlasting life on earth.. the rest of the changes don't really matter to them.
that witnesses are the only religion to teach this and the only ones preaching it.

The main message of the TRUTH may be the same but if the main message is all that matters to God then any religion that believes he exists and that he sent his son to die for our sins, would be a religion that is pleasing to him. If that is so then why don't JW's go from door to door with that simple message?
Instead the WTBTS has gone to great lengths to demonstrate that for JW's this belief isn't enough. The truth is in the fine details rather than the big chunks as your friend believes. This is why they have had to become a publishing company that spews out reems upon reems of paper explaining their TRUTH and why everyone else is false religion and hated by God only to find out that much of what they called the TRUTH wasn't true afterall. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses it isn't enough for your friend to simply believe that God exists and his Son died for us. He/She is expected to believe all the details they provide without question and to spread it to others, right or wrong until told to do otherwise.
This person is in denial at this point and it might just be an exercise in futility to even try and discuss this with them.

Could The Watchtower and Awake Collapse?
by metatron inthis is not a prophesy, folks, but rather a train of thought to pursue about the organization, especially in light of its recent legal problems.. could the magazines collapse?
the watchtower is published in 188 languages?
and the awake a rather huge number as well?.
-

The Awake! Magazine will NEVER collapse! I mean, imagine the world without informative, college-level articles such as "Swiss- the Tasty Cheese With Holes In It" or
"Tree Frogs- Friend or Foe?
"Now that's funny ! (funny....and true)
