Thinking persons will agee that rather than spening countless hours practicing and playing tennis and drawing attention to herself it would have been better if she'd have spent the time bringing honor to the Creator and built up treasures for herself in heaven rather than striving for acclaim in this dying system of things.

So when will I stop hating the organization?
by loosie ini have tried to stop hating the organization and all it stands for, but in 7 years i've had to luck in doing so.
i am going to therapy to work this out, but i still hate the wt borg.
i have heard it is bad for you to hate something for so long.

If JW's dissapeared off the face of the earth you will contntinue to hate them as long as you choose to or continue to get some sort of pay off from it.
Sometimes hating the "wrongs" that are done to us can become a running theme in our life and a distraction or excuse for whatever we feel may be lacking in our lives at present. For instance if somehow equality and fairness was granted to gay's, women, minorities, etc some people wouldn't know what to do with themselves. What would there be to rally around...who can we blame things on...what will I do with the time I used to spend on this ?
A cut can heal but it often leaves a scar. The more you pick at it the worse the scar will be. No matter how well it heals the skin will never be the same in that spot and you will think of what happened each time you notice it for some reason. How you react to the scar is up to you. It is a process but you have to be able to accept if for what it is and be willing to let it go. Visiting this site has been very helpful to me but I realize that it may be becoming a hinderance to my moving on and putting the hurt behind me once and for all. Each time we dewll on our experience with the WT it reinforces the story in our minds and deepens and prolongs the damage.
Hatred and anger are acids that eat through their own container.

A little update on my family
by sooner7nc ina few of you may remember that my wife had a kidney transplant early last year.
since then the kidney has been incredible, giving her a new lease on life.
it's really been good to see the light in her eyes that i had missed for quite a long time.. the counterpoint to this good news is the problems we have had with our son coltin.

So glad there is treatment out there for Coltin and you are able to take advantage of it. We're so lucky to be living in a time when such things are available.
All the best to you and your family.

Skirts and trousers (pants if you're in the US)
by Chariklo injust what is it that the watchtower thinks is so much more modest and respectful to jehovah about wearing a skirt instead of trousers?
that is, unless you live in a culture that has trousers as the norm for women, as in india.. something today brought this to my mind.
i can't even remember what it was, but it led to thinking again about this.

When I was in elementary school the girls weren't allowed to wear pants unless it snowed. If it snowed they were allowed to wear them under a dress or skirt. It was another hold over notion from a bygone era that most people came to realize was ridiculous. Not the Watchtower gang who take themselves so seriously. They made a stand on it back in the day so they have to stick to it or they think they'll loose ground. It's the same with beards or hair past the ears for men. God always agrees with whatever they decide.

A fun break from yard work today...
by Rocky_Girl ini'm outside in the 90 heat doing landscaping with my neighbor/ friend.
two women in dresses, nylons, and heels walked carefully across the newly tilled dirt to get to us and start their presentation.. woman 1: we are talking with your neighbors about the increase in crime lately.
do you worry about your safety?.

Woman 1: *clearly offended* I can assure you, we are not a cult.
No one in a Cult ever thinks they are in a Cult while they're still in it.

He's gone to that big "Mayberry" in the sky. Emit has the keys to the Pearly Gates that he stole off Don Knotts and Aint' Bee is waiting with a big ol'slice a pie.
Did you ever hear the lyrics to the theme song?

Had a visit from JW's yesterday.
by exwhyzee init took almost 3 years after we quietly left our last meeting (memorial 2008) before anyone came looking for us.
after nearly 25 years raising our family in the same hall and it was as if we didn't exist anymore.. that happened about a year ago but yesterday the boys and our daughter in law were here and were all having a late breakfast and lounging around in our robes an p.j's having a nice morning.
we were sitting at the kitchen table looking out the sliding glass door at one of those summer rains where it just buckets down all of a sudden.

Thank them for the invite and tactfully let them youre not availible to join them. Are you faded?
Yep...faded like a favorite pair of bluejeans.
I'll be tactful but I know they're gonna ask why we won't go. Then there will be a line drawn that may not be crossable anymore. Old friends are hard to come by these days.

All JWs share the same belief
by biometrics ini was having a discussion with a (currently serving) elder recently when he brought up a straw-man argument that went something like this:.
elder: i've been invited to speak with other christian groups, you know what they do when studying the bible?.
elder: they read a verse or chapter, then go around the room asking how everyone interprets the reading.

They read a verse or chapter, then go around the room asking how everyone interprets the reading.
Doesn't that sound interesting? Almost like a book club. Can you imagine a Watchtower Study where it was actually a discussion that was kept on topic by a moderator ? Where there were no wrong answers or foolish questions. I think it would be really enlightening, stimulating and would draw the congregation closer together.
Most JW's I knew didn't talk about the Bible to eachother because we already knew what the other would say on any given subject. If you had thoughts of your own, you knew better than to voice them.

An update on this posting:
I just got home from work and there was a pink envelope under the front doormat. It was a card from that couple who stopped to give us the invitation to the D.C. It said that they really enjoyed visitinig with us and thanked us for being so hospitable even though they dropped in unannounced. They said that it's a sign of a good friend when you can do that and be made to feel so welcome. It said they miss us and they want us to sit with them at the assembly this weekend. They left thier new phone numbers and want us to call and let them know.
It was really nice for us to see them too and I don't want to hurt their feelings. They are the first ones after all this time to actually ask us to come back. But I can't imagine going to the assembly unless I could go anonymously in another city and be a fly on the wall just to see what it would be like after all this time. I do wonder if the old anxiety would come back like it used to as soon as smelled the new literature and I heard the music and heard them testing the microphones by announcing "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world and then the end will come !" That used to freak me out for some reason. It's been so great to be free of that horrible sensation that I don't want to risk it returning.
Anybody have any ideas of how I could put it to them gently that sitting with them aint gonna happen this weekend ? I wish I knew their email adresses so I could just send them a note rather than call . (coward)
