Its funny how you never hear of near death experiences of individuals who saw the devil or hell fire or dead realatives warning them not to "cross over". All you hear about is a white light or welcoming loved ones and other pleasant visions.

Funerals of Disfellowshipped ones.
by exwhyzee insome time ago someone posted some information here from some of the wt literature (possibly questions from the readers) that shows it would be inappropriate for a jw to attend the funreal of a disfellowshipped person.
when our son was undergoing cancer treatment while disfellowshipped we realized that if he didn't make it, we'd be on our own to bury him.
thankfully he survived but it was this realization and the way the family and friends abandoned us during our darkest hour that started our exit from the religion and eventually sent us packing for good.

My Sister in Law claims that there is no such edict from the Society about this.
Can anyone direct me to where I might find it. ?
Thanks !

Are active bethelites sent here to spy?
by EndofMysteries ini wonder if bethelites are sent here for research, but i can't see any being sent here for research in which it wouldn't awaken them at the same time.
even the governing body themselves may awaken if they were at this board haha.

I hope someone from HQ is reading the valueable info posted on here. This site contains the insights of a wide cross section of individuals who for one reason or another became casualties of their organization. If they truly love and value the lives of their flock and of the human race as they say they do, they will acknowledge the wrongs that have been suffered by former members and they will strive to rescue the ones they have left who are dying on the vine while the rest are out knocking on doors looking for new victims.

Lazarus could have talked his head off about his experience and it might not have been recorded.
Good point...and very amusing too !
I'm glad you brought this topic up as it has also come up three other times this week and I'm beginning to see some common threads that make me think there is something to this. When my Mom (also a JW) died of Cancer at 57 she definetly said things toward the end when she was coming in and out of consciousness that made me think she was seeing something good and pleasant. We thought it was the medication talking but it seemed to be more than that somehow. Her eyes were closed and she sort of smiled and reached out as if she was trying to touch what she was seeing. One of the Elders from the hall said "who's to say what pleasant little image or thought Jehovah might put into the mind of those who are dying" We were just happy that whatever it was, she was at peace and seemed not to be resisting. The nurse told us that sometimes people hang on because they don't think their families are ready let them go. My siblings and I sat next to her bed around the clock and at the last together we told her that we'd see her again and that we'd be ok and it's ok if she'd like to go. A tear rolled down her cheek and my Sister said to me "maybe she's not ready" Suddenly Mom spoke and quietly and most assuredly said "I am ready". That was the last thing she ever said. She died in the small space of time between when my Sister left the room as I was about to enter it. The nurse said that happens all the time. They want privacy while they die. While she was lucid, Mom said dying isn't as bad as it might look.
I think there is a lot more to life/death/dying/God etc than we will ever know on this side of things. All I know is that I have a strong sense that we'll be pleasantly surprised by what is in store for us and we'll have a good laugh at all of our silliness and bickering over such matters.

I was in "Street Work" conspicuously standing on a corner of a busy steet in a major west coast city holding up the latest magazines (can't beleive I ever did that) . I had on a pair of dress pants and a sport coat with a tie and sweater vest underneath. A carload of nicely dressed business men in a new car were waiting for the light and I noticed them laughing at me. Later I looked down and realized that my necktie somehow was on the outside of the sweater vest and was covering the magazines. I felt so stupid standing there anyway let alone to have spent all that time with my tie covering the magazines. (such a dork)
My Mom used to play the piano at the hall. One night we rushed out of the house so she'd be there on time to play the opening song. She dashed down to the front of the hall and sat at the piano with her coat still on. She went to take off her coat and realized that in her rush to get ready she had forgotten to put on her dress. All she had on under the coat was her bra and slip. Luckily she noticed before she had the coat all the way taken off.
My wifes mom was at the door with my wife's little brother. The boy was bored and started playing with a little kitten that came out of the house while his mom was showing a scripture to the householder. He tried to catch it but the frightend kitten jumped up inside his mom's skirt scratching her thighs making her jump and got its claws got tangled up in her nylons. She had to put her bible and bookbag down, turn and reach up and extract the cat while the cargroup and householder looked on.

When did this abstaining from lethicin start with the Dubs ?
The first time I heard about it was in the early 70 when I was in elementary school. They even said Elmers Glue and Dentyne chewing gum couldn't be used because it had lethicin and therefore had blood in it. Lethicin in food production is normally plant based See this earlier thread about it

Knowing since early childhood that our father was going to be destroyed at Armegeddon because he didn't want to get baptized after being studied with.
Anxiety and sleeplessness caused by worrying over how I was going to help my little sisters live through the trubulation. I was afraid I'd renounce Jehovah and be destroyed if anyone threatened to hurt them. (great stuff for an eleven year old boy to be carrying around)
Sitting on bleachers in the hot sun all day and then into the evening listening to talks being blasted over loudspeakers that I thought sonded like rantings from Adolph Hitler. I had to wear my brothers ill fitting hand me down meeting clothes. The pants were held up by a big diaper pin with a plastic duck on it and I was too embarrassed to take off the jacket for fear everyone would see it. I baked in the sun for days with my suit jacket on. One time a sister behind us tapped my mom on the shoulder and told her she needed to take me out of the sun. I got to go sit on the concrete steps up in a shaded area and I thought it was such a treat.
Running into kids from school at the door.
Living in a no mans land of not feeling "good enough" to be a Witness but not being "bad enough" to be part of things at school.
Feeling guilty because I didn't want to read the "new releases" after the Convention .
Feeling guilty for hating going in service during the afternoon break at the assembly. It was torture knowing you had an entire afternoon and evening of religion to endure when you got back to the convention grounds.

Latest "Questions From Readers" - who wrote in with this question?!
by cedars ini kid you not.
the latest watchtower study edition has the following question under consideration in the "questions from readers" article on page 20:.
do jesus words found at matthew 19:10-12 suggest that those who choose to remain single have received the gift of singleness in a mysterious way?.

No "Questions from Readers" has legitimately come from a letter from a reader for at least 35 or 40 years. They're all made up now.
Since the writers of the Watchtower undoubtedly read their own work before it goes to press, it could be said that any of the questions they make up themselves are in fact questions from readers even though the intention is to give the idea that the question came from someone other than themselves. It's called spiritual warfare....bending the truth for the good of the cause.

How many of you had trouble getting or keeping jobs because of JW schedule?
by puffthedragon inbefore i acquired a skill, i worked retail.
like many jobs that work non-traditional hours, when you apply for a job in retail or a restaurant or something, you have to tell them what hours you are available to work.
now most people looking for a job, unless they are in school or something, are available to work whenever the job requires.

I remember back when I was a kid they had 5 an 8 day assemblies and the Brothers were encouraged to quit their jobs if they couldn't get time off. After all, Jehovah would provide them with a new one and it would prove their faith in him if they quit. They'd have "experiences" on the platform about brothers who quit their jobs in order to attend and then who went on to find better jobs.(applause applause) I'm sure if anyone quit a job it was because it was a dead end one anyway....anyone with a good job attended on the weekends and was made to feel unfaithful.
