JW tour bus crashes in Florida, with fatalities-
by moshe inmiami - a bus carrying 32 members of a church group hit a concrete overpass at miami international airport after the driver got lost, killing two elderly people on board and leaving three others critically injured, officials said saturday.. the large, white bus was too tall for the 8-foot-6-inch entrance to the arrivals area, said airport spokesman greg chin.
buses are supposed to go through the departures area, which has a higher ceiling, he said.. chin said the passengers told him they were part of a group of jehovah's witnesses headed to west palm beach.
police said in a news release that the group had chartered the bus to take them to a church convention there-.

Based on the fact it was a "Sweetwater" area congregation (southwest of the airport near) I see no reason why they were anywhere near the entrance to the Airport. Sweetwater is right next to the Turnpike
The only thing I can think of, (and I base this on my own recent experience) , is that the driver encountered one of the many detours and wasn't able to find an easy enough place for a bus to exit the freeway to turn around once he went wrong. One detour led to another and he wound up only being able to take a route through the airport. I say this because this is exactly what happened to me. I was in a car so I didn't have a problem with an overpass but had I been in a bus it would have been much different. Either way you'd have thought a bus driver from the area would have planned his route better or known that he was too tall to pass under the concrete abutment. It must have been quite a wollop !
The other possibility was they were picking up someone from out of town who was flying in for the assembly. ??

Anyone else know Miami? How the hell is it even possible to wind up INSIDE MIA when you are going to WPB? This is a screw up of epic proportions.
There has been a lot of construction and many crazy detours at and around that airport lately. I had qyute a time navigating a rental car through there recently and I can absolutely see how someone could end up in the wrong place, especially a bus that can't change lanes quick enough to avoid taking the wrong exit. My Brother lives in West Palm Beach and I believe there is an assembly hall near there. I'm sure I'll hear the sad details from him.

Jehovah's Witnesses and the BETTER mousetrap
by Terry inralph waldo emerson said: "build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.".
he was correct.
the most invented (improved and modified) device in the history of the patent office is the mousetrap.. .

You only have to look at some of the Cars produced by Detroit in the past (Pinto, Gremlin,Vega etc) to realize that no matter how ugly or unreliable the cars are, if you market them, eventually someone will buy them. It's the same with anything, even a religion. A lot of it is a matter of numbers and timing and stick-to-it-ive-ness not necessarily that the product is good or even needed.
You could go from door to door selling white washed graves year after year and someone would eventually buy one and there'd be some who'd even look into setting up their own franchise.

I thought if I didn't go in Service enough or missed meetings for no good reason, I'd be destroyed and condemned to everlasting cutting off along with Hitler, Ted Bundy and Millions of Unwed Mothers.

What If Money Were No Object?
by Crisis of Conscience ini haven't started a topic in quite a while.
but today, someone sent me the video linked below.. i really enjoyed it so i decided to share it.
and while it can be applied to many situations in life, i believe in particular it is of use to those still in the struggle.

I get what the video is saying but I do wonder who will grow the food, collect the trash, make sure the sewer system is working if we're all doing what we'd do if money were no object. I'm kinda thankful that we are forced by life to do what we'd rather not do and to get unpleasant things done a lot of the time because we have to.

They always used Luke 19 which is the parable of the slaves who were put in charge of the masters belongings while he was away. The slave that made good use of the belongings /increased them, was praised, the one who didn't use them well/hid them away, was evil and cast off.
The idea was that the WT is using the Masters belongings wisely and if you don't support them, you are an evil slave deserving of death.
This assumes that the master is happy with how they are doing things. Hopefully the Master won't be annoyed by the lack of growth due to the slow and ineffective means they use to spread the word and by the literature containing incorrect dates and teachings that were spread through out the world that mislead many and turned many away from God altogether.

She keeps mentioning a break, don't know if she wil go through with it.
You might remind her that according to JW belief, if she leaves you without scriptural grounds and you wind up in a "relaionship" with another woman, she is also guilty for having put you in that position by leaving her marriage mate. If you refrain from talking about"apostate" topics with her, she won't have any just reason to leave.

Talked to an elder today
by MrFreeze ini guess the stars aligned for this one.
this morning i dropped my car off to get it fixed and the shop i always go to is a lot closer to my mom's house than mine so i asked her if i could stay at her house while it got fixed.
she was out in service doing returns at the time and offered to ride me to her house.

Just remember, Jehovah is the living God and nothing can change that.
Such a cliche. I'd have asked him "What does that mean exactly....and what does it have to do with anything really? Did I say he wasn't living or indicate that he could die someday?"
Don't stick your head in the sand until it is too late."
I'd have said "Stop accusing me of burying my head in the sand, I spent X number of years with my head buried under stifling JW teachings and I'm now having a look around. You sound like you have condemned me already in your mind....let God handle the judging ."

HELP! I've stepped in it now... mast head change - JW response!
by NeverKnew inhe's asking if i've read the first page of the new watchtower.. says page 8 admits and exposes the society's mistaken expectations.. says that both mags have been adjusted to reflect the understanding of generation.
asking if it is my position that witnesses have made claims to be inspired prophets.... and saying if it is, maybe *we* can consider together some examples in the bible of others who have had wrong expectations and have gone ahead of god's timetable and see how god handled that..

What about those older ones who have no retirement account, put off having children, finishing high school, going to college, went preaching instead of taking a vacation, spent their childhood worrying about an unbelieving parent, grandparent or friend who was going to be destroyed any day all based on their incorrect understanding of the word generation ? What else are they misunderstanding ?
All they have to do is print a few lines in their magazine and we're all supposed to go on about our business as if it doesn't matter. Not even so much as a deep sorrowful apology...only a comparison to others from a few thousand years ago who looked ahead of Gods time table. They are the ones who gave us dates and refrences about our time, made us think the end was supposed to have happened any day in the last 30 years. We would never have been so presumptous as to have told people all over the world that we were living in the last days if they hadn't convinced us they are spirit directed and know what they were talking about.
