It was death by a thousand cuts, rather than one single thing, but I'd say #1 comes closest to how it was for us.

What Was The Effect of You Knowing Hypocritical JW's?
by LoisLane looking for Superman in(1) did it cause you to leave sooner than you might have, otherwise.. (2) it didn't bother you enough to do anything about it.
hey, we are all imperfect.. (3) did you want to prove you were better than they, and nothing they could do or say, was going to stumble you.. (4) they stumbled me, probably as much i stumbled them.
we all know it's an old boy's club and we are not going to tell on each other.. loislane.

About two years ago, a well known Brother from our area an a few other JW's were killed when the commuter plane they were traveling in while serving where the need is greater, slammed into a mountain. At the memorial they stressed how much more important the day of his death is rather than the day of his birth since what you are when you die is what counts with Jehovah. They almost made it sound like it was a good thing that he died this way. They speculated that it was very likely that at the moment of impact, these JW's were talking about spiritual matters or laughing over some funny experience they had in the door to door work. I looked over at the widow and kids and could tell they weren't buying it and like the rest of us, would rather not have been picturing the moment of impact at all. Everyone knew they must have grazed the tree tops for a few moments and were well aware that they were in big trouble. Trying to put a JW spiritual spin on the whole thing backfired. The rest was an infomercial on the benefits of being a Witness.
When my Mother Died at 57, we weren't allowed to put her picture up front with the flowers....just wouldn't do to draw too much attention to the individual.

THE DIVORCE OF THE CENTURY!
by JW GoneBad inso there is a rumor going around about 1914 and its possible demise!.
i cant help but think of the many and i say many divorces (not to make light of the matter) that jw families have had to deal with among their ranks over the years.. however, knowing how long the wtbts and 1914 have been together and the thought of mother (wtbts) doing away with her man (1914) after nearly 100 years of marriage is truly heart breaking for some.
many old-timers probably still think of the old days when they were like any other happy couple; inseparable, always holding hands, romantic and the like.

It seemed at first, that theirs was a match made in heaven but once again our fickle Mother, the WTBTS, finds herself back in the "dating" scene.

When I was in Bethel there was a place in the factory that was referred to as "Sleepy Hollow" where all the ancient Bethelite men that could still fog up a mirror, were given little jobs to do like fold things and stuff things in envelopes.

Similar Religions to Jehovah's Witnesses
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
i am sort of having a breakthrough with my mother-in-law.
she's not really going to the meetings any longer but still believes the jehovah's witnesses are the "true religion".. in our last conversation, she said the following:.

Read about the Plymouth Bretheren. My Grandfather was disfellowshipped from them for marrying my (non P.B.) Grandmother and was shunned for the rest of his life. There were no P.B women to marry so finally in his 40's he married out of the "lord" and had the book thrown at him. His family never saw any of his 6 children although they lived in the same village. His sister was disfellowshiped for going to see a movie while she was visiting the " Big City " she was apparently spotted by someone who knew her, coming out of a movie theater in the 1940's. My Grandfather took her in and helped her make it. JW's think they are so original....they're not.

How do believers defend a god who is going to murder billions and pin it on them?
by tootired2care inat that time those slain by the lord will be everywherefrom one end of the earth to the other.
they will not be mourned or gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground.

Aren't billions dying of decay, old age, sickness anyway?
Yes....only because God (supposedly) chose to curse Billions of humans rather than punish the two who were (supposedly) at fault.
If I maimed one of my Son's in some way so that his children would be born with painful defects, I'd be considered a sick-o. Even (supposedly) wicked human beings can see the wrong and injustice in that. Seems like a supreme being such as God would have been able to come up with a better plan than that. Everything that (supposedly) happened in the beginning was a mess from the get-go. Why were humans created to live forever but animals (supposedly) were ment to continually grow old, get sick and die and new ones born to replace them. What's the point in that? None of it makes sense to me and I'm taking a wait and see attitude regarding God, the Bible and religion from now on. None of it is proveable and I'm not about to go around acting as if I know what it's all about, ever again.

When I say to a wicked person, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. - Ezekiel 3:18
If JW "A" goes on vacation and misses an opportunity to warn John Doe of his wickedness and the impending destruction, God will kill John Doe for being wicked as well a JW "A" for not warning John Doe.
If JW "B" comes along while JW "A" is on vacation and warns John Doe of his wickedness and of the impending destruction and John Doe heeds that warning and is saved, will JW "A" still be killed for not warning John Doe when he had the opportunity ?
It always struck me as odd how JW's believed the end was coming any day and knew what Ezekiel 3:18 said yet would go off on tropical vacations instead of spending thier vacations knocking on doors warning people.

So during the years that we were being taught the old information and were globally spreading what is now considered to be incorrect, we were not really in "The Truth" as we claimed to be. I was baptized having learned the old information. Does this make my Baptisim null and void since my dedication was based upon misinformation? Is God going to hold me personally responsible for spreading this misinformation about his word the Bible and possibly turning people away from him when they recognized that what I was telling them was wrong?
