I feel for the people who have dreams of going to college and getting a rewarding career but never got a chance to do so. I being to assemblies where they discouraged young people from going to college, I thought then that I would never let the Watchtower keep me from going to school to pursue my dreams. Some people that did go to school, went to school to be a teacher so they can pioneer during the summer. No way in a million years I would be a teacher. Thats not who I am. If you ever have dreams of going to school to be in a certain career, now is the time to go back. It saddens me when i see young people throw their life and dreams away for the watchtower. They won't be happy for a long time because of their decision.

Have you met this JW- "You were dumb to follow!"
by serenitynow! ini spoke to a jw who would not let me assign any blame to the fds/gb for their "suggestions.
" she was like, so your parents didn't go to college and served for years where the need was great (in poverty) and then struggled with kids and a ww business and no healthcare- nobody made them do it!
they were dumb!

How about cut the watchtower questions down to about 12 instead of 18 to 22 paragraph and questions? Some Watchtower conductor ask so many questions and ask the audience to read almost all of the scriptures in the paragraph...that is torture and cut out the bible reading. What is the point? We can't read the bible without the Watchtower's input. What the hell.... cut all the meetings out lol

What she is doing doesn't make sense...Why join the watchtower but live a life in a way they condemn? You don't believe in what they put in the watchtower. That is plain simple...Probably she is in it because of her friends and family. If none of her family is in the truth, then she is wasting her time for nothing.

What about unbaptized children of baptized parents? Will they be destroyed too? What about children of parents who are just studying with the witnesses? These people in the organization need to stop pointing at the worldy people because they may be destroyed for not attending enough meetings or not going out slaving away their hours enough...lol What a joke...

Why is it legal to have a kangaroo-court?
by bohm inhere is something i have been thinking about.
most problems with religion (jw, shahira) seem to come from self-established courts.
the problem with those courts is that they are allowed to invent rules themselves, and are able to punish people for things that are not illegal, for example sex outside of marriage.

This is the one thing i kick myself for...joining a religion that practice shunning. I guess at the time when you believe it is the true religion and they practice what the bible says. At the same time later on in life, we can decide that it is not what we want anymore and want to find something better in life. It is not a penalty to leave the catholic church to be a jehovah witness but it is a penalty to leave the jehovah witnesses for the catholic church? The judicial meetings and disfellowshipping practice does take away our rights but at the same time we signed up for it and knew what we were getting into without thinking about our decision a lot.

The spanking room
by dgp ini just got "the spanking room: a child's eye view of the jehovah's witnesses", by william coburn.
the author says that their old kingdom hall didn't have a spanking room, so the spanking took place in the ladies' room.
there was always a line, either for ladies wanting to make use of the toilet the way it was intended to be used, or for ladies waiting their turn to spank their children.

The spanking room is a bit exaggeration of what the restroom is used for. Yes a lot of mothers do be spanking their kids in order for them to sit and be quiet during the meeting. I think some take it too far. What do they expect when their kids are bored with nothing to do? Thats why you give books with lots of cute pictures to look at not no Book of Bible Stories when they are 3 years old. It is stupid to give your kids that kind of book. They don't understand those pictures and why people are being destroyed in the armaggedon picture.

Would you Agree with this?
by KW13 init occured to me that when the new, young elders, ministerial servants and so on take over, they are further and further away from the origin of the witnesses.
when the lies were fresh in the minds of all, when people saw first hand what was done wrong, giving them the reasons to jump ship and enjoy life, without fear of making a mistake, because they had a good idea of the facts.
these things have since been brushed under the carpet and the circuit overseers, elders, ministerial servants and so on are more naive and clueless (in my opinion) than ever.. the same applies to the rank and file witnesses.

Bother steve....um i don't know what to say about him. "I think perhaps the Demons got into this man to make him molest a girl in the Kingdom Hall. Or it's possible it was the girls fault for tempting the Brother." lmao How does a 12 year old tempt a 73 year old man into molesting her? Are you serious? Even a young adult female wouldn't even look at his old behind unless he got a lot of money but there is a great chance he may not. Yeah, that is way past embarrassment....

The Elder Situation
by metatron ini was speaking with an older sister who is quite zealous and she is typical of many who are concerned that men are not reaching out.
she notes that young men in particular have no interest in doing anything, congregation-wise.. the change in this area is quite dramatic, if you can remember that once, being an elder was an aspiration of nearly every brother - and we had plenty of young men to run the mics and hand out magazines.
i once pointed out to a c.o.

I was reading toward the end of the article and there was a story about a brother who had to wait 7 years to be an elder again. Is that the rule when you lose privilege as an elder? You have to wait 7 years to get your privilege back?
