  Can you be a glutton and inherit god's kingdom?

  i was looking for the scripture about who will inherit god's kingdom and can't find it because i packed up all my books and stored them.

  is there mention of gluttony being one of the things that will keep you out?

  proverbs 23:20 says a drunkard and a glutton will come to proverty.. proverbs 28:7 says one having companionship with a flutton humiliates his father.. so if i can't take blood transfusions, be a drunkard, lie with same sex people, etc.

  Hi Celebrate. I am not putting overweight people down. I have dear friends of all sizes. I was trying to point out that there are things mentioned in the bible that will keep a person from the kingdom and wanted to know where the scripture can be located. For some reason I remember gluttony as being one of the reasons. I am not judging a person's weight being related to gluttony. I am trying to find out if God does indeed judge gluttony to the point of keeping such persons out of the new system.

  If someone can point the way to the scripture, I would appreciate it. If someone can be da'ed and df'ed for some things because the bible says it is so then if gluttony is one of those things, I want to know why the WTS doesn't come down on them and chase them away too.

  That is why I am looking for the scripture. Help will be greatly appreciated.

  On my return to the Kingdom hall this summer after being gone for 9 years, I noticed how big alot of the people had become. Some were well over 3 or 4 hundred pounds and the kids were bigger then I remember.

  Gatherings of witnesses were always food fests. I remember two women saying that they do so much eating because they are not allowed to do anything else. They are still at the hall. One man who was about 150 pounds overweight, commented that he was on a diet. I asked what kind of diet and he gave the JW answer "The see food diet" Everything I see I eat. Ha ha" He is still at the hall but can barely walk because he has put on more weight.

  So getting back to my original question, Can you be a glutton and inherit God's kingdom?

  hey everyone, i am thinking of having a tree this year for the very first time since i stopped going to the kh.

  although i am not disfellowshipped and i have not written a letter to disassociate, the closest friends i have had over the years as a witness have all chosen to avoid me and my family unless we return to the hall.

  unofficial shunning by those who we have loved.

  Don't know if I am buying a tree this year. I have no ornaments or decorations so it would be a big project. I did see a 3 foot high fiber optic tree I may get. I am going to buy a reindeer from K-Mart that is made of wire and white lights and it's head moves. That I am putting on my front porch because it makes me happy to look at it. Guess I will do what feels right at the time. Gotta go and put my first Xmas wreath on the door.

  Questions about physical security at conventions

  can someone here tell me what the current policy is in jw conventions in terms of inviting the public.

  is the public invited only for the special talk on sunday or can they come in at any time?

  if a memeber of the public does come into the assembly hall, are they escorted or kept under surveillance the entire time or just a short while?

  I attended the Madison, Wi assemblies. One year there were several people running down the aisles with signs and yelling something. They were quickly removed and when I asked what it was about I was told that they were apostates trying to ruin the assembly. It was the best part of the assembly. That didn't ruin it for me.

  i have been trying to figure out the title and singer of song i heard on the radio a few years ago.

  all i remember about the lyrics is that a guy is in a record store and runs into an old girlfriend they go into a cafe and talk about all kinds of things (it's snowing outside) when they finally go their seperate ways the snow turns into rain.

  does this sound familiar to anyone it has driven me nuts.

  i would without question let mankind know who i am.. i would bless all those who worship me and give them their every needs.. i would also remove the curse of death and go ahead and remove the devil.

  really why should i have to kill billions just to prove i am god.. live let live and remove all the written laws.

  place the law of love as the only law.. there would be no sin because i made rlues to be broke therefore i would remove these rules.. it wasn't until i told adam ,son this is my apple don't eat it.. i on the other hand would have said, adam this is my apple tree i love you eat and show eve my tree and let all things be shared between you and me.. it is hard for me to beleive a god would place restrictions on his creations then kill them for for such a phoney reason.

  I understand your words oh so well for two months now. My invisible buddy has disappeared into a puff of smoke. There's no Santa, no Easter Bunny, no Tooth Fairey, and no God. I am still struggling with the no god part cause I break out in prayer from time to time. It became such a habit and it is taking awhile to break.

  The stories of "If I was god" is just how I have been thinking. I just talked with my youngest son a few days ago about the same thing. I wouldn't have given birth to him and then abandoned him. Leaving unclear ideas of who and where I am and that one day I would come back and kill him if he didn't follow the rules that were open to interpretation just as this past has pointed out.

  It all seems so clear now how wrong this is and sad that none of it was true. Some turn to a different religion after the WT to bring back that childish fantasty of a god. Just like people anxiously await Xmas hoping that they can bring back the fantasy of Santa. It was all pretend and it didn't feel very good when we found out that we were lied to now did it?

  I am going through a mourning for what is lost.

  Gees! No wonder the JW religion appealed to me. It was so familiar.
