Your question of how do we account for evil in the world? My definition is quite different then it would have been three months ago when I still believed in a god and the bible. Satan? Is there such a being? Evil spirits I think are just a figment of ones imagination just like religion is. I don't know if a god exists but if he does, this kind of stuff is unforgiveable. Jesus (who was supposed to be perfect) spent 3 hours hanging on a cross. What kind of time did this 12 year old spend being tortured? Every day was a living hell (she wasn't perfect now was she) So why was she supposed to put up with more than 3 hours of torture? Makes no sense to me. It says in the bible somewhere that god will not give you more then you can bear. I believe this example shows that that is not so.

Evil is here because people are just evil. Are the animals evil? I know some are more vicious then others but they are killing to eat and stay alive. Have to kill, they have to die, I have to eat to stay alive. Ah, but the wasp stuns the moth and plants its eggs and the pupa proceeds to eat the moth a bit at a time and the heart last so that the poor moth stays alive and suffers. I believe that this is what Darwin discovered and concluded that there could be no God and allow this kind of suffering. So some of us are moths and some are wasps. Wasp Tower Society comes to mind.

Look at how many crimes are committed in the name of religion. Parents beat their children because the bible tells them so. (Yes Jesus love me, yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so.) BS to the max. The cycle of abuse continues - The parents were beaten as children to be holier before God and the parents had a responsibility to beat their children or they would be held responsible if the children strayed. Then they had children, and so on and so on. The cycle of abuse continues and gets more severe as angrier people (generations of abuse = acceptable means of dealing with children)

Religion is evil. It excuses all in the name of god. "We beat her to death because God said to not spare the rod." Evil F***ing people!
Sure there are those that are evil and have no connection to a god. It just makes it that more ugly that it is done in the name of religion.

People prey on the weak. Power. Is it all about power? Nothing corrupts like power and power corrupts absolutely (can't remember the exact quote). When you have the power, you can do anything you want to anyone and no one can stop you. Something must go haywire in the brain. Drugs, religion (remember Religion is the Opium of the people?) Look at the people who drink too much alcohol, are they nice and sweet, and kind and compassionate? NO! They are drugged and feel that they can do anything they want to another person. I think that people who abuse their power are really weak. Like that 12 year old's parents - cowards. F***ing lousy cowards. A 350 pound man beating that little girl with heavy tubing. He needs to have (and his wife too) someone beat them every day to the point of death and then let them heal and then have it done again and again 12 times less one times 3. Of course, the person doing the beating would become evil too.

So what is the answer in your mind Morgaine?

Do you still believe in god???

how many of you still believe in god after your experience of the watchtower?

do you believe in a different god than the one of the org.

one who won't destroy somebody just because he wasn't in the good religion.

I believed there was a God even before I became a JW. The search for God became important at age 9 to the point of attending church on my own - my family rarely attended. I looked into the religions of my friends, went to their churches and synogogs. Looking for god, trying to find him and then imagining that he was there but I just hadn't found the "True Religion" to reveal him to me.

Got married and found out that his mother was a JW when we stopped to see her on our way back from the honeymoon. I asked my husband what was wrong with his mother she was so nasty and talking about things that were so far out - the end is coming, don't have children, god is going to kill almost everyone and leave only the JW's. I thought, "what the heck does that mean, what kind of religion is that?"

Started studying with the Witnesses and I thought, "This is it. This must be the True Religion" Their black and white thinking fit in perfectly with the way I was raised. I didn't like holidays because of family insanity at those times so that fit right in too. Ah, this must be it.

Now after all these years, not agreeing with alot of the teachings but thinking that somehow it would become clear in time. Ha! The blood issue, the UN, the abuse. How could I have been so blind, so taken advantage of, so easily led?

Haven't been back to the hall in three months. Tried to make sense out of God once more and can't do it anymore. Blinders off, light shines in, brain in gear and------- I don't believe anymore. The WTS took that away this summer. I feels quite strange to no longer pray when I prayed throughout the day. No longer asking that god take care of my children and keep them safe. It just isn't there and I think if there was a god, he made a hasty retreat long ago. Abandoned his creation because it didn't turn out as expected.

Should People Be Disfellowshipped?

a reply i made on another thread prompted me to post this.

i was going to do so on the other thread but that was really not the topic and i didn't want to corrupt it by flying off on another tangent.. i have no problems with disfellowshipping from an organization such as jehovah's witnesses.

i don't think a person should be allowed to remain within an organization while practicing things that are condemned by that org., things which they, themselves profess not to believe in.. my objection is to the shunning.

The dfing has to stay in place to control the masses and to keep them from leaving the org. It keeps them so scared of losing their eternal life that they put up with anything that is thrown at them. Think of it. What is there was no dfing? So many would leave because the threat of losing out on life would not be in place. Then what would the GB do about the dwindling masses? The dfing keeps them in power over the r and f. Overload them with field service, meetings, and studying so that they cannot think or respond and throw in the dfing and you have total control of people and their lives. Religion is the Opium of the People - Karl Marx.

what helped you guys get over your anger of being shunned, dealt with unfairly, ignored, etc?.

my wife and i found comfort in each other.

Who does the anger hurt? Does it hurt them or you? Anger is a feeling that comes when finding out how one has been grossly lied to and being hurt and having your family hurt by the lies. So we go thru the anger and get to a place of sadness and finally to a place of letting it go. We have to because - Who does anger hurt? Does it hurt you or them?

Having Children Inside vs Outside The Organizatio

i feel cheated because i wouldnt know what its like to experience pregnancy and the birth of my children the way it was meant to be.. a completely natural and joyous event in human life was sabotaged by this religion!.

im sure there are others who know what i mean.. i would be interested to hear stories of others who have had children both inside and out of this organization.. i would like to explain what i mean.. i was raised as a witness and was always expected to be an example.

from as far back as i can remember we were taught that armageddon was just around the corner.

When I was pregnant with my second child, my mother-in-law, who was a JW was visiting for 17 days. Why 17 days I never understood. She told me that I should not be having children in this system and all the other insane ramblings that you have put up with. I was not a witness at the time and I cursed her up one side and down the other. Told her she had her kids and I was going to have mine. She didn't mention it again for the time she stayed with me because of my tearing into her. But I kept receiving books and letters of why it was wrong to be pregnant. And right. Was I suppose to have an abortion or was I to stop having sex with my husband?

After not being back at the King dumbhall for 10 years, I noticed that the ones that were going to wait until the new system had children. What happened there? I watched the kids and was horrified at how they acted, subdued, depressed, frightened. I felt fortunate that my children and I attended for only 5 years and then left. Of course there is the residual aftermath of having been involved for those years. And even before I was baptized, I didn't celebrate holidays or birthdays. You see, I was studying for 17 years off and on.

I came up with a way to celebrate at other times. I called it "Love Days." 6 times a year I would decorate with a theme and buy presents and put up signs in the house that a Love Day was on the way. They always got excited about these. Love Day always took a weekend of total involvement with the family. But even with that, there is the feeling of not being part of society and it is hard for them, and me, to celebrate the holidays. I am truly sorry that I got them involved in this religion, but so thankful that I rebelled thru most of it in that we joined the YMCA, all went to college including me at age 46 and we all graduated.

My two oldest children celebrate holidays and one believes there is a God but who is it and one believes that there is no God. My youngest was back at the King dumbhall for 7 months and has left for good. I am happy that I started going back to see what was going on so that I could expose them for what they are. In showing my son the UN letter and talking about the changing blood issue, and having him read the posts here, he finally said, "If the witness are the true religion, I don't want to live forever with them because I want to be happy and not depressed forever.

I guess this was a bit off of the subject but had to get that out.

You said, "Isn't the loss of a child at your own hand enough to live with?" The coward tried to take his life because he got caught this time because his daughter died. Think about how many years that poor girl and her siblings have been beaten and abused. He tried to kill himself to take the easy way out. Do you really believe that he sits and is sorry that he beat his daughter to death? He is probably mad at her for dying instead of recovering to be beat again.

Death penalty would be too easy for him and his ferangie wife. They should be put in prison for life and let the inmates take care of them. Even if that happens, I don't think they will ever experience the fear of those children being beaten at whim from the very people who are supposed to love them. Body and mind murdered over and over and over again.

Let's have some honest answers

ok all you ex's, be honest.

do you ever have that little voice pop in your head and say "what if - just what if they're right?".

it happens to me on occasion and i've been totally out for years.

I left in 1994 and would have those thoughts that they were the "True" religion. Tried to celebrate Xmas and other holidays and always felt guilty, that Jah would punish me. And get this, I thought that maybe a witness would see me practicing holidays and then what would I do? Somehow I believed that god would forgive but I knew that the witnesses never would. Why I didn't catch on to this being upside down thinking I don't know.

After trying for reinstatement this summer, going to all the meetings and watching the people and what they were regurgitating, the change in the blood doctrine (this was the final straw for me) the UN, watching my youngest son turning into a glassy-eyed JW freak, I said ENOUGH! NO MORE!

For a few weeks, I felt the pangs of what if they are right and I am wrong? I boxed up my considerable JW libary and put them in the garage. I felt uneasy just removing the literature but I did it anyway. I wrote down the reasons why the WTS is WRONG! I referred to my list in times of doubt and did more research and I know that it was all an illusion as to it being the truth.

Do I get those pangs of maybe it was the truth? Less all the time. I am deprogramming. I carved pumpkins for Halloween and stuffed Xmas light inside them and proudly put them on my front porch. There will be a Xmas tree this year and I am FREE to be me. How cool is that?

Write the list of the lies and the failed prophecies and refer to when necessary.

... i thought y'all out there might well have a story or two to tell, so ... plz tell me tell me tell me about the most embarrasing thing you ever saw at a meeting ...

I took my neice and nephew, ages 5 and 3 to the kingdom hall because I was watching them overnight and couldn't miss a meeting. I gave them "My Book of Bible Stories" to look at while the meeting was going on. In the middle of the talk, my neice says, in her biggest voice, "Look, it's Aunt Judy" as she held the book up to people behind us and pointing to Jezebel. Ha ha ha.

Guess some of the sisters were right when they said I would have to tone myself down a bit if I wanted to go out in service.

What Satanic Rituals???

in a recent post metatron and judith mentioned in passing that dubs they knew had been involved in satanic rituals.

forgive my morbid curiousity, but exactly what sorts of rituals were these?.

bear in mind that as dubs we were told that the rituals of the roman catholic church were satanic, that smurfs were satanic, that rock'n'roll was satanic, etc., etc.

Points well taken.

Can't prove that Smurf dolls didn't do what they are accused of doing. A rational person would find it highly unlikely. But abuse that has been documented in other areas aside from the WTS, make it more plausable that abuse did happen. So sorry for victims who are not believed. Yes, I agree that some memories are false and some real memories are added to but we all know abuse happens. As to Satanic rituals, I have never witnessed it, only heard about it, but don't know enough to expound it.

Anything conceived by the human mind is possible but not provable. Hmmm. Will have to give further thought.

Is it not up to the JW's to prove that these things don't happen? So many have come forward to testify to the abuse. Can they all be lying? Is there not more evidence of truth when many tell the same stories of abuse?

I cannot prove the abuse I received from my x husband or my father, but I have the mental scars, the behaviors, the survivor attitude.

A JW will turn your story, no matter how much evidence you have, upside down and inside out. They will twist and turn you until you think perhaps you or others have made things up or it is not really that bad.

There is the evidence of the UN involvement and when showing this document to JW's they poo poo it as apostate propaganda. And they tell you about a library card and then it is just fine isn't it.

I was teetering on the edge of believing no more and then, cleaning the JW puss from my eyes, they were riding the beast, locking their doors to the people in New York, lies abounded about their helping.

And by the way, Are those Sodimites coming back or not? Where's the proof?

Is the Governing Body getting it's info directly from God? Where's the proof?

Is blood acceptable by Bible standards? Has it always been acceptable by Bible standards? Are the GB eating Kosher meat that has been bled properly? Are we still under the law to do that? Where's the proof?

New Light?, Old Light?, Whoops! New Light again. Where's the proof?
