there is a large kh in my area, a nice neighbourhood, that has been up for sale for well over a year now.
the old cong that used to go there travels miles to go to their reassigned hall.
i swing by the old one now and then to see if anyone has bought it.
As other posters have referenced, the size, layout, and semi-residential style of most KHs limit the pool of buyers. In my experience, they usually end up being sold to either another church, or to a day-care center or a medical office. In general, though, commercial property takes much longer to find a buyer than residential.
I'm sure that came into play when they came up with the new design a few years ago. The typical "retail box store" design would appeal to a much broader set of potential buyers.

Publishers of Maltese Descent to Assist in Malta: There is a need in Malta for mature brothers and sisters to help stabilize the organization (emphasis mine) and strengthen the field. (Isa. 6:8) The island has a growing population and a relatively small number of publishers.
Interesting. I've not see such a bleak assessment of the need. I wonder if we'll start to see this call go out for other countries where WT is struggling with a lack of mature brothers (e.g. Japan).

Many who visit and see the tremendous scale of the new branch facilities are moved to echo sentiments similar to the Queen of Sheba who was left “completely breathless.”
LOL! Seriously?
Listen, I'm not disputing that the new buildings are thoughtfully designed, reasonably attractive, and no doubt a vast improvement in functionality and environmental awareness.
That being said, being left "completely breathless"? Come on. If that's the case, the average JW must require serious medical assistance after driving through the average suburban corporate campus or office park.
hey folks, .
it’s been a long time since i’ve posted, good to see the forum well attended & spicy as ever.
this just in from a close & trusted source, names & local places redacted for obvious reasons:.
The liaison committees in each of the cities gathered all the JW healthcare professionals in their areas and read a letter stating that they can no longer administer, order, or even recommend a blood transfusion in any form, even if it means termination from their job.
The question is why would the Org use this type of dissemination method when they are so "in your face" on everything else? Why is everything private or semi-private (no pun intended) verbal communication issued regionally with no written record available?
This is probably the most blatant legal CYA I have yet to see from WT Legal. They know that all it takes is one JW to get fired from their job over taking a stand on this. Once that happens, this letter would be immediately submitted into evidence in court / arbitration.
This is the same reason why any accusation of CSA requires the elders CALL the branch (vs. a letter) -- it assures no paper trail where the Branch can be seen as directing decision-making.
BTW, I can confirm I've had conversations with multiple JW medical professionals where I point-blank asked them if they'd been told that providing blood products is now forbidden. Each of them confirmed this was the case, but when they were told (verbally), it took quite a bit a verification as other elders they'd asked had no idea this was out there. One chose to leave their long-standing job in one of the country's top trauma wards over this, and now works at a neighborhood clinic taking blood pressure, giving flu shots, etc.
EDIT: If I were a JW nurse / doctor and were read this letter, my response would be: "Thanks for the information brother, however this directly contradicts what has been published by the Faithful Slave in the Watchtower (cite the WT reference from Blondie). If it is serious enough to result in my being disfellowshipped, or losing my job, I will need to receive this direction and clarification in writing. I'm sure the Branch and Faithful Slave appreciate the seriousness of this matter."
how alienated from jehovah and un-christian so many bethelites must be, who finished their higher education and gained their degrees!
i don't know how they can live with their consciences!.

I have a close relative serving in a fairly "prestigious" role at Bethel. Incredibly gifted academically, graduated from uni with honors after winning an incredibly competitive full scholarship in a technically difficult major.
After graduating, regular pioneered for several years while actually being able to support themselves before entering Bethel. After around 15 years at Bethel, now feels "ashamed" of going to uni, as they are horrified when they are held out as an example to others of being able to successfully obtain a university degree while staying faithful and then entering full-time service at Bethel.
if this has already been posted just disregard.. 2018 annual service report one in english and one in spanish.

Knowing that more than 50% of baptisms are born-ins, one can safely double (at least) the hour estimate needed to covert one person.
If you double the actual number (7k - 8k hours per baptism) to account for born-ins to 16,000 hours, it would take the average 10 hr / month publisher 133 YEARS to convert ONE person. (That number seems implausibly high, but I’m drinking a strong beer right now, so feel free to challenge my maths)
Super effective. “Stones crying out” would definitely be more effective .

If you search by town (i.e. Wallkill, NY), you'll see results for several WT-related entities:
Although none are surprises or have additional financial info available (aside from WBTS of NY), a "fun fact" nonetheless.
I did a quick search of Warwick, NY and Patterson, NY too, but none of the results jumped out at me as WT-related.
a few years back i was in a meeting between fades and it was the co visit.
he said something i thought was crazy and a lot of jws buy into this mentality.
i don't remember the talk but he asked this question.. what if this isn't the truth?
An Elder told me that even if it wasn't the truth, he couldn't think of a better way of life !!!

You should tell him the Apostle Paul disagrees with you.
1 Cor 15:19
According to Br. Paul, “...we are to be pitied more than anyone” if it’s all just a lie.
specifically if an unwed woman decided she wanted a kid without the hassle of dating/relationship /trying to get pregnant etc and just got a sperm doner with ivf?
surely it's not fornication?
the whole process is far removed from sex.
I find it comical that surrogacy and sperm donors are forbidden by the WT.
Why?
I dunno...maybe you should ask Joseph and Mary about that one. Big J seemed to be okay with Mary carrying and giving birth to a baby when Joseph wasn’t the biological father.
