How Will The Watchtower Handle Disclosure?
by metatron infor me, the disclosure of ufo's as being real is just matter of time.
it's not a matter of any mayan calendar or galactic alignment.
it's simply the eventual outcome of increasing and increasingly bold ufo observations.

Weird thing is, I don't know of any accounts much before the advent of human flight...actual aliens would very likely be far, far advanced, thousands and thousands of years ahead ....they would have been here long ago. I have seen three UFOs, with a witness beside me. I alos know what our secretive government does with experiments of psychology upon us. Calm down everyone, UFOs are the government.....and time travel is impossible. Else we would have seen evidence of it and its ends long, long ago. Live in reality people.

Atheists..... throwing the baby out with the bath water ?
by snare&racket inthis saying permeates this forum with higher frequency than most.
despite being an open atheist amongst lots of religious people in my life, i have never been accused of doing this and i have never heard this saying attributed to my choice... appart from here.. i thought it would be best to clarify why i (and i assume others) decided to leave the bible behind after leaving the wt society.. realising the wt society was wrong desroyed my world, for me it meant so much.
i had given so much to it too, it just had to be true!

Everyone, all of my friends here, even ones who said I have said something hateful rather than talking about specific topics, or ides, such as "belief", "atheism", Christianity", or other ideas without insulting any person, get this book, and maybe we can have a constructive conversation about the ideas within. We can only dealwith things with the knowledge that is at hand, and actually, in the end, common sense prevails. The name of the book is "Who Made God?". Fascinating read, but really fascinating if you are emplyed in the scientific field. I highly recommend it. God bless all of you.
Any "ist" or "ity" is a belief system. It doesn't matter if you call it "religion"or not. Our belief systems shape our worldview, and our worldview shapes and changes the course of our lives, and makes meaningful, or not. Stalin laid on his deathbed, an avowed atheist, with a father and grandfather lead members of the clergy (or was it Neitzche?). Stalin though, after killing millions of his own people, raised up on his deathbed, and shook his fist at the heavens above, then laid down to take his last breath, even though he proclaimed to believe in no god. In doing so, he did not violate any principle or doctrine of atheism. Those who do what he did in the name of Christianity, no doubt, all of Christianity would scream that what they had done was not Christian at all. Strange paradox? no. They just said they were Christian, yet weren't, or did it expecting some reward in this life. Christianity doesn't give that. It gives peace of mind, and a way to cope with the undoubtable strife we all go through, rich or poor, black or white, man or woman, old or young.

Bohm:
I won't answer every line in your last post, though I could, but will concentrate on the heart of the matter. You stated basically that since the laws of physics break down around the time of the big bang, that somehow this has something to do with cause and effect. Cause and effect are concepts that can never go away. Were there a different set of rules of physics at anytime, cause and effect still exist. It just plays by a different set of rules. And all of your typing can never disprove this. With no cause and effect, it is basically a system of chaos. But where did the chaos come from? Atoms and quarks and the tinier particles didn't self-manufacture themselves. Period.

To New Chapter:
You said: "This god character has done nothing to show his presence to us. He has done nothing to indicate that we have an accounting, or that he will help us in anyway. I would think that a personality that could cause the big bang could at least do that much for humanity. But since it didn't, I conclude it either doesn't care or doesn't exist."
I would say he has done everything. Look around you. And be thankful for the happy life he has given you with wonderful friends. Your last post seems to run from science. The mathematics and physics show that there was nothing the instant before the big bang. You ask how something so beautiful and wonderful come from nothing. It didn't come from nothing, it came from whomever created it. There was a cause, an uncaused cause. Like it or not, that is cold, hard science. Cause and effect. Otherwise, it came from some machine, a self-manufactured machine that nobody built. You tell folks that they should look at science and reason. Well, that is what I am doing. Of all of the belief systems, atheism is the easiest to disprove. The basic fallacy of atheism is that it is positing an absolute negative - which doesn't stand to reason. To say "I am absolutely positive that there is absolutely no creator of the universe - otherwise known as God" is a logical conundrum. And if this is not what you are saying or what you believe, then I wouldn't lump myself in with people like Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins and call myself an atheist. Because that is the definition of atheism.
How could all of the matter in the universe exist in a point infinitesimally samll, so dense with all of the matter in the universe? That's what the scientists, the greatest ones in the world say happened. And right before that, there was no matter at all. That is what I meant by something coming from nothing. One instant - matter. The next - everything in the universe, and it exploded. There had to be an idea behind it. With no matter, and no ideas, and no willpower by any intelligent being, there is no big bang. If you can't trust that reasoning, you can't trust any reason or logic.

"I think you were abused in some way and need religion to comfort you. There is no doubt that you have dealt with spiritual abuse, as you were a JW, and therefore have jumped into the arms of another religion to relieve your pain. But why do that? Why not give science and rational thought a chance?"
I am a scientist, and a Christian believer. Obviously, we could go on forever about this, but there is one main driver to show me why atheism cannot be a belief in what is actually true. And science drives it. Notice I didn't say science is what drives my belief in the Bible and its truthfulness, but it shows me why atheism can't be. Atheism is the belief that there is no creator, or God. That is the definition. Not just the disbelief in any one god, such as Christianity or Islam, but any god. Many famous atheists have tried to shy away from this definition, and say that they simply do not know. This belief system would be called agnosticism. The word itself is a derivative of a Greek word that when translated accurately to English means "ignoramus".
The one huge event that everyone agrees upon that began time as we know it is the Big Bang. It is as scientific as science gets. The Big Bang, once discovered, was a real problem for leaders and writers trying to prove atheistic thought via scientific argument. It implied a beginning, and therefore a cause, or an uncaused cause. Everything has a cause. The laws of physics may have even been different right around the time of the bang, but that says nothing to the basic knowledge we have that everything has a cause. That is basic science itself, finding the causes for a result, and coming to conclusions based upon observation. Ifthe relationship between cause and result isn't true, then you can't even know if your thoughts are sane or insane, or if you even know where you came from. Cause and result are as plain as the nose on your face. This is not arrogance - it is fact.
Literally, the moment before the big bang, there was nothing. This is a huge problem for atheists. It implies that something came from nothing, and this defies the First Law of Thermodynamics - ah, science. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Yet, again, something from nothing. This implies the supernatural, and an intelligent creator. What we Christians would call a miracle. If you can unravel that mystery for me, and use your "science" to explain how something came from nothing, I might start listening. Your lack of belief in Christianity has nothing to do with science.

depressed and starting to loose it
by raxxxx insooo... it has been a few good months since i started having doubts and started researching.
now very much convinced i had been lied to and my parents had not done their homework prior being baptised therefore it fucked up my future ... just a bit.
now also had been going out with a jw girl for 1,5 years... and i am starting to loose it... stuck in a lie, delaying the getting engaged because of my attitude towards religion(she knows i had doubts and always have been anti watchtower - got baptized anyway... stupid me - but she doesn't make a big deal out of it... she is not very strong spiritually) ergo i know i am not fit to be head of the house by jw standards... but i just love her too damn much to break her heart by leaving the organization and ergo leaving her.

Bro,
I never was a JW and dated a wonderful woman who was a JW for 2 1/2 years. Loved her so much and wanted to marry her. This at 39years old. I never knew the difference between JW beliefs and what they didn't believe that Christians do. I was blinded by her, and she wasn't a strong, strong adherent to some of the JW beliefs, and I think she tried to shield me from it. After I did some critical research on the internet, it scared me so bad (I had also been to someof the services with her and always came away saying "Baby, there is just something that isn't right about the way you all go about things. It sounds like they are talking to 7 year olds") that I made a vain attempt to get her away from it and tell her waht the Bible actually said, knowing they are taught not to read the Bible without the guidance of the WT. Too late, she had been in since the age of 14, and the threat of the punishment she knew she would recieve was greater than the pull of wanting to be psychologically free, which is what Jesus gives. Her family was all in it, and I just feel so bad for her now. Would love to talk to her and still miss her, after 2 years of not talking and dating others. What a beautiful human being she is. Just couldn't have my kids around that for long term.
Your life is important. No one woman and being with her is worth living a lie, and allowing her to live it by being with her everyday. If it is taht important to you, it will be a long process to convince her, and, unfortunately, women tend to not really take the advice of the boyfirend, who they know has "ulterior" motives. They really need to stumble upon it themselves, or hear it from some third party. There are many books on how to debate with JWs on their doctrines, using the scriptures, a method the JWs use themselves. The average JW can turn the average Christian into a scriptural pretzel within 5 minutes, using trickery. There is no way out when they hear these things. It forces them to think critically, something they have been conditioned not to do. And brings undeniable evidence of the actual truth that wil not be able to deny. Otherwise, you need to leave her, and tell her why. Maybe she will ask questions. But you need to bone up on how to shoot down the JW doctrines before you do. Get on Amazon and find the books, they are everywhere. Good luck.

Descended from animal? Explain language.
by StopTheTears inif, as evolutionists claim, all of mankind evolved from the same primitive life-source, then how did we end up with 7,000 different languages?
did one gorilla get angry at another gorilla and decide to start a new language?
i'm intrigued to know.. .

Language can "evolve" over time within a culture. Doesn't mean God can't change it or that He didn't create it.
On the subject of "evolution", there is no logical reason why a single cell organism would grow into anything else. There is no logical reason why a more advanced creature just above that would ever "evolve" eyes, not knowing what light was in the first place. Assuming single celled organisms have no eyes, and that was a starting point for the argument here, there is no reason whatsoever for any one organism to evolve eyes. And it has never been shown that mutations, accidental as they may be, have ever created on organ of any kind. There has to be intent. Even the leading evolutionists admit all of this.

jgnat,
I guess I would respond to your first comment then, would be to say that I do not study the Bible to serve my logic at all. My logic studies the Bible among other belief systems and sees absolute truth that was presented about the human condition by Jesus, and the prophetic schema that is evident, along with the fact that archaeological evidence of Lazarus, Thomas, etc and the questions of why the disciples would have dies for a lie all point to the Bible being true. There are obviously some metaphorical statements made within it, but the Bible does not claim to have verbal perfection, nor does it claim to be literal in all that it puts forth. And obviously, the resurrection of Jesus, if it didn't happen, the Bible falls completely apart. That is the central event of the Bible.
There is not any document, not even close, with the kind of documentary backup, including historians of the first century. Drwtsn will likely believe the writings of Homer, but probably not the Bible. If we have no meaning, origin, destiny, then life is meaningless indeed. Nothing in evolution has been proven, and none of it is falsifiable, because it doesn't at all state anything in strict terms of science. It is simply a theory. The theory of relativity is also a theory, but it is backed up totally by mathematics and natural physics. Evolution is a story. Sois intelligent design, which is also falsifiable, but hasnt been falsified. We have come much closer to falsifying evolution than the other way around.
