remember the story of the ark of the covenant on the wagon and it started to fall and one of the men grabbed it so as not to have it fall on the ground and it's contents spill on the ground...... what happened...oh yeah jah stuck him dead!!

for touching it.... i remember the wts saying it was disrespectful to have it on a wagon..... so much for slow to anger lol!.

First off, I'm sure it was an instant reaction on his part. He probably did it without even thinking. Also, how does the WT know his heart condition? I thought they weren't supposed to judge hearts.

When I tell people I used to be a JW, they always point out about the holidays. They ask why we don't. My response is that I don't really understand why. We were talking about Thanksgiving the other day. I said "I don't celebrate, its against my religion". I said it as a joke, since I'm not a JW anymore. They said "what?" Then one said her cousin is a JW and doesn't celebrate. I told her I used to be one and they don't celebrate Thanksgiving. There is no good reason they don't celebrate it.

i don't know whether this has ever been asked, so i apologize if i'm repeating.. what did you do at the last meeting you ever attended?

did you stay for the whole thing?

what made you realize that this was your last meeting, or did you not know it would be your last meeting??.

My last meeting. I love looking back on it because it's when I finally took a stand. It was at the end of last October. I was serving as a pioneer and a ministerial servant. I told the elders right before September that I didn't think I could pioneer with work taking up a lot of my time. I did the math and it would have been almost impossible for me to pioneer. In October, right before one meeting an elder took me aside before the meeting and asked if I could stay after to talk with two of the elders about me wanting to come off the pioneer list.

I kept thinking "How am I going to explain to them and come up with an excuse good enough to not pioneer anymore?" As the meeting wore on I thought that maybe it was a good time to start a fade. I was going to tell them I didn't want to serve as a ministerial servant anymore. That I don't think I was living up to my end of the bargain.

The meeting ended. Almost everybody had left and they took me back into the back room. I told them about my reason for not wanting to pioneer. "I'm too busy with work." Then I told them I didn't want to be a ministerial servant anymore. "I'm supposed to be an example and I don't think I'm being that great of an example. I'm supposed to be a shepherd and I'm not doing a great job of that." That's when they really tried to dig into me and find the source of my true feelings. I'm not even sure what brought it up but then I started to discuss my doubts. I musta gone on for about 45 minutes listing what I thought was wrong about the WT and the GB.

So much for fading. I took a big leap. Many of you probably understand how intimidating it is to stand up to people you've looked up to and lived your whole life with. I was very surprised I had that in me. As I walked out of the backroom, I took one look at the family of the elders I had just shocked. Gave them a smile, a wave and I walked out the door. That was the last time I ever stepped foot inside of a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .

it's horrible.

at last year's local memorial service, purported to honor jesus' sacrificial death and its signficance to the eternal prospects of humanity, the visiting speaker from bethel quite remarkably managed to talk for almost an hour without one recourse to the word "resurrection".. a remarkable achievement, given its centrality in the belief system of nominal christianity.

nor were the stirring moments of high drama in the bible's depicting of jesus last hours on earth-- his last supper and his prayer for the well-being of his disciples, the betrayal of judas, the agony of the garden; his disciples' succumbing to sleep; his betrayal and arrest in the garden of gethesemane; the scattering of his fear-gripped disciples; peter's denial, and the climactic soul-stirring awareness of the signficance of the empty tomb and its guardian's chilling pronouncement to mary magdalene and the women "why are you searching for the living among the dead?"...

and so on, to his post-resurrection appearance at emmaus, etc.. all of this was swept aside in favor of convincing those in attendance that they had no business in partaking of the emblematic bread and wine.

Haven't you people read that statement by Jesus where he said "Keep doing this in remembrance of me. That is unless you are not of the 144,000 anointed in which case you must be a respectful observer."

all these women were prostitutes who listed ads on craigslist.

Just remember though, these are the kind of girls Jehovah would be wiping out any day now anyway, so why feel sympathy?

their claim, to cover up changed teachings, is that they are always getting closer to the truth.

how do we know that the gb is closer now than they were 50 or a hundred years ago?

how do we know that the gb hasn't been drifting away for the last 50 years?.
