hot as hell
by Hortensia in52 degrees celsius is 125.6 degrees fahrenheit.
that's hot no matter how you measure it.. where i used to live in the desert we had about two weeks every year with temps over 120 degrees f. i once experienced walking in 128 degree weather.
not good for humans at all.. i hope the weather cools soon -- that is hot enough to keep wild fires burning for a long time, hot enough to kill people.

DC hotel list shortened
by Honeybucket inwe got our list of hotels available for our convention in the greater seattle area and there are only 3 hotels willing to have a watchtower block.. my mil thinks its because "as the society warns us to not do, people book rooms and then end up being a no show or cancel on short notice".
maybe its because they realize the jw's really arent the "most outstanding patrons" as they claim to be.
lets not forget that all wordly people that stay.

Last time I looked at hotel listings about three years ago we had pages and pages of hotels to choose from in the Cleveland area. Probalby about 75 hotels.

Homeschooling VS public/private schooling
by PSacramento ini was wondering on the views about homeschooling vs public/private scholling.. thoughts?.

I went to grade school and was homeschooled from then on up. Looking back on it I wish I had gone to high school.
At the time I didn't mind it because I could get up when I wanted and stay up as late as I wanted. As long as I got my work done by the end of the year I was free to do my own thing. My mom pretty much left it to the books to teach me. Guess it kind of helps that I was pretty smart so I picked up things quickly.
I'm not against it. I think it works best for some kids. For other kids, I think they need to go to public/private school.

Gun Control, Alex Jones and Piers Morgan
by Amelia Ashton inpiers morgan decided to advocate gun control after sandy hook.
that caused this radio host, alex jones, who has millions of listeners to create a petition to have piers deported.
piers invited alex on his show to have a civil debate about guns.

He said he owns over 50 firearms, quoting him, "to make sure his family is safe". Over 50 firearms? If you aren't a collector or a lunatic there is no reason for anybody to have that many. Alex Jones doesn't know how to debate. He just likes to yell over the other person and avoid answering questions.

How about providing that article that has the hierarchy listed?
Of course this won't get much press. Nobody but JW's and ex-JW's cares about JW's.

Pizza... or seafoam jello. Brownies, made with cake mix. Franken Berry, Boo Berry, Count Chocula. Rice Krispies Treats cereal. Fresh blueberry muffins. Homemade italian bread.
Those are all comfort foods for me. Number one would definitely be the seafoam jello. It's just jello mixed with cream cheese, dream whip and diced pineapples. has to be mixed enough too. No large chunks of pineapple.

So, the NHL is back...
by MrFreeze inanybody else as excited as i am?
i know there are a lot of canadians on this board.
hockey is probably my favorite sport to watch.
-
MrFreeze
They are shortening the season. Didn't hear yet if it is going to be 42 or 50 game season.
RAYZORBLADE, the great thing is that now you can add the NHL on top of the OHL and the AHL! I love watching hockey. I don't care what level it is. Even watching people play dek hockey.
DaCheech I knew several people who never liked hockey, went to a game and then became huge fans. To me it is the best sport to watch in person. I've been to three playoff games in my lifetime. That is as exciting as it gets. Like I said before, that playoff game in MSG still gives me chills thinking about it.

Did You Give Much $$$ To The Kingdom Hall And/Or Watchtower Society?
by minimus ini typically gave $$$ to the local kh and seldom gave donations to the society.. i always am amazed how some church going people have very little materially, yet make sure the church and the pastors are well taken care of..

Never donated a single dollar that someone didn't give me out in service.
