I might be mentally challenged but that has nothing to do with me being an apostate.

According to the watchtower, it looks like we have a disability.
by man in black ini have heard quite a bit about the july 15th watchtower magazine on this sie.
so i went and downloaded it and read several of the articles.. page 16 paragraph 6 states : "well, apostates are mentally diseased, and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings".
how horrible, they seem to know sooo much about menal health !.

Alcohol is not harmless.
by StopTheTears inamericans drink beer as a recreational activity, which is no different than abusing prescription drugs.
the people who laugh and scoff at preaching against beer have never stood over the graves of a mother and child killed by a drunk driver.
i'll never forget that little casket being lowered alongside the mother's casket, because some drunk driver killed them.

A non-JW gets it!
by MrFreeze inin my attempt to seperate myself from the jw's completely, i am finding all kind of awesome people.
of course, if we are talking by jw's standards these people are "awful".
anywho, there are a couple of them who are absolutely fascinated with the fact that i used to be a jw.. the reason they are fascinated is because they are aware of cultish mind-control and understand just how difficult it is to walk away from it all.

Not gonna lie, the fact that anybody gets it completely surprises me! Kinda lucky I guess.

The reason they are fascinated is because they are aware of cultish mind-control and understand just how difficult it is to walk away from it all. I've talked to quite a few people who I've known for a long time and knew that I was a witness. When I tell them I'm not practicing anymore it doesn't really strike them as odd or as a big deal. Why should it really? They don't get it! However, this select few are very interested in the struggle I've had to go through to remove myself. I'd even go as far as to say they are amazed that I just one day got up and left the organization.
Do any of you have any non-JW friends who get it?

Where do the JW's pull their statistics from?
by stillstuckcruz ini noticed how, of course, the public talk outlines contain the same information for all the brothers to use.
but their statistics on matter aren't very up-to-date i imagine.. example: i remember the talk about parents or young people or something.
many of you may remember the statistic it provides.

How can JW's not believe in the soul and yet believe in the spirit?
by Terry inthis is a real puzzler.. for christendom at large there is no problem in thinking of humans as a body (tent) which houses the soul.. for jehovah's witnesses the human is the tent.
no soul is contained.
(they make "soul" the same as body.).

If we are completely gone but are recreated, are we technically even the same person? Maybe have the same personality and memory and all that but essentially it would just be a clone.

Pretty neat. I don't think I'd have the nads to walk in there and take of the crackers and wine.
