  Confusion!!!

  i'm soooo confused!!!

  i grew up in the 'truth'.

  about 4 years ago my parents divorced.

  When I read your posting I noticed that you've tried several ways of avoiding meeting. You didn't give your address, been sick , busy , ect. Instead of focusing on your fear of what the JW's say will happen if you don't go to meetings THINK about why you don't want to go..... because obviously you don't want to be there.

  Perhaps you don't want to be at meetings because you know that the next step is dedication.....and Also you maybe thinking that this is how your life will be for a very long time... Do you REALLY want this :

  1. 3 Boring meetings a week, that you have to prepare for and take a big chunk out of your week. Field service. Its part of the JW package and remember if you by chance get a bible study You will be out EVERY week. Think about Holidays and be honest with yourself (remember Jehovah knows whats in your heart ) No holidays... Do you kindof wish you could have fun too but stop yourself because you feel guilty. What about dating, having non JW friends, Having dreams that aren't pioneering ???? Do you just love conventions and assemblies. perhaps they'll be what you'll do on part of your vacation. The other part of your Fun filled vacation can be a trip to Bethel !!!! Woohoo!!!!!! DO YOU REALLY WANT to have a laundry list of no no's that you'll have to follow to be a good JW. The music you listen to, the program on tv, the movies, books, your clothing ect.... Do you want to go dancing at a bar with a friend and have a drink ? Because if you do , you know that you shouldn't as a JW.

  Maybe you don't want to go to meetings because you really don't buy the crap that these people are really happy. Your scared that your going to be destroyed. Its an organization filled with well meaning but brainwashed people who live their lives based on FEAR and GUILT. Do you want that for yourself and in the future for your kids???? My advice to you is to follow Jesus rather than an organization. Are you saying to yourself "but this is the only org that pleases God" Hmmmm Do your research.... One day you'll chuckle to think that you once believed that God 's org started in New york or back east anyway. My advice to you is do your research. Don't allow ignorance to stiffle your life .. Do your homework on the org. Question beliefs. You'll later be glad you did.

  this is the instant message conversation i had with my sister in law on friday.

  it makes me so sad because i think that she in her heart recognizes the truth of what i am saying, but then the jw brainswashing takes over and she just stops thinking.. sorry it's so long!!.

  I'm glad you posted. Perhaps someone will read this and see how programmed JW's are. The first time I had a conversation (with elders) hoping to reason with them, it became very clear how brainwashed they were. Most of us were once in that same boat and its hard for us to even understand why we couldn't see that someone else (an organization ) did our thinking and programmed our responses for us.
  You don't need to have a conversation with a JW to know exactly how they would respond to each and every question. Its frustrating I'm sure for you.
  Hang in there. I was once proud to be a JW and wouldn't listen to "crap" either. The "facts" that you reminded her of will once in awhile nag at her. Its those nagging "facts" that may one day help her really seek for the truth.

  Sunday mornings........ I love them!!

  I LOVE SUNDAYS !!! Now that is... I use to wake up on Sunday morning and hoped I was a bit sick so i could miss the meeting. I can't believe I use to enjoy being sick!!!!

  I've been so busy with cosmetology school that I haven't had much time to post.
  I thought some of you might enjoy reading about some of my recent experiences dealing with that shunning "thing".
  I go to Beauty school with a sister from my hall. At first she enjoyed shunning me and wrinkled her nose at me , like I was dirt. Wow, things sure have changed. At first I would smile at her and try to be all nice and then I wondered WHY??? So I gave her back her same looks and talked right in front of her how I'm so glad to be out of a cult full of hypocrites who enjoy being mean. This gal also was witnessing to a few people about "cults" ( of all things) and I couldn't help myself but to go join the conversation. She was telling them that something about following the bible. I told her she follows an organization and not the bible and then I told the people she was talking to that I had been in a cult called Jehovah's witnesses for 10 years and I'm shunned because I left. I told them how hurtful and unloving shunning was. I told them shunning was like them letting you know that in ther eyes, your dead and some treat you like your disgusting. Blah Blah Blah........ Everyone was saying "How awful and "they call that being Christian" ect. It was great!!! This sister just stood there while I fired away. I was talking to them but my words were for her and she knew it. I stopped trying to be nice to her and I shun her and look at her like she's the cultish freak and guess what?????? She tries to be nice to me. Several times she has tried to talk to me about school related stuff and she smiles ect. I 'm not rude to her but I'm not warm and fuzzy either. Its funny how the roles have reversed. Sisters from my hall come to have their hair done by her and most just act like they don't see me. One sister just 2 days ago came and she gave me a dirty look .. I gave one back and muttered "bitch" just loud eneough for her to hear. I don't think I need to be nice to people like that.

  i am a lot happier as a disassociated turned a so called apostate person..i never smiled or laughed as a kid now i do..i was x jw for 40 yrs.

  When it comes to holidays and in this case your childs b- day , Stand firm and have a party. Only you can stand up for your child and see that he gets a happy childhood. My kids are both celebrating their birthdays for the first time this month. They'll be 11 and 12.
  If you cave in to your wifes nutty beliefs you'll be weighed down by guilt later on. I feel so guilty for depriving my kids of so many special memories of Christmas and birthdays. In my opinion your first responsibility and prioroty should be your child. Your his father and you should have say in how he is raised.

  POLL: Occupations

  as a witness what occupation did/do you hold?.

  i was speaking with a friend of mine that is a former witness and we remarked about how many of us have worked in some sort of janitorial work.

  Before I became a witness I was a cocktail waitress in a casino. I also bartended. I started studying and quit my job and got baptized and became a stay at home mom. No regrets about that !!! Once my kids were in school all day I worked part time as a school bus driver and (gulp)....... I was the hot lunch lady . I DA'd myself in May and decided to go to cosmetology school . It was something I always wanted to do and now I don't have to feel guilty about pursuing something other than pioneering.

  My husband is smoking pot

  Thanks for all the replies. Sometimes I feel like I'm at wits ends and I really have no one to talk to. Our marriage has had serious problems since I said " I do ".
  Perhaps I shouldn't have shared those problems to a bunch of people on the internet , what can I say ..... I'm a dork.
