  Hi SF,

  I don't know much about you but I gather from the post above that your spouse is a JWand you are not one but don't oppose. Am I right? You wanted to know why the need to fuel pain and anger here? I can't explain that, my husband once asked me that too. I have taken months away from here and then when I come back it is kindof like an addiction. Not too spurt hate but too chat and see if someone answered my post. Sometimes I enjoy the dissagreements and enjoy visiting with people that are in a way a friend. I think alot of people NON JW's are involved in chat rooms and forums about topics that they are interested in. This is mine.

  You said count the I's the my's and narcissistic motivation. If I'm speaking MY opinion and relating MY personal experience, what other word should I use?

  Your post doen't make alot of sense to me but it seems as if your really upset and very angry. Why do you hate ex JW's? Just curious why you feel so strongly. By the way I think I'm a pretty straight shooter with no hidden messages to my posts. I would like to know your background and why u feel the way u do. No hidden agenda I just like knowing what makes people tick. jurs

  What are your thoughts on writing DA letters?

  as most of you know, i have been inactive for about 2 1/2 yrs and completely out for about 7 months.

  i am debating on wether or not to write a letter of da to the org or not.

  in some ways i just want closure, and on the other hand i dont want to play by their rules.

  Dear Mamashel,

  I'm a big supporter of DA letters. I wrote one and am very happy I did. I think they send a loud message to the congregation that someone doesn't believe its the truth. The first time I heard of someone DAing themselves I couldn't believe it! How could someone not believe its the truth. I was quite curious . That being said, I don't sense from you the kind of attitude you'll need for the crap you'll go through once you send that letter. No one could have stopped me from sending my DA letter. Thats how it should be for someone to write it. It had nothing to do with following their rules it had everything to do with announcing as loud as I could to ALL that I could , that the org was a cult and I'm OUT!!! You still have a hubby that believes its the truth even if he doesn't go. This could cause you more problems than just being shunned. You need to really want to do it and be ok with the consequences. Even though I love it when people do, I don't think you should.... Just my thoughts jurs

  I wasn't raised in the org , I came in as an adult. My husband was not a JW. He was love bombed and had NO problem with me being a witness. I raised my kids as jw'S , we didn't celebrate holidays , Our social circle was the JW's, our kids didn't play sports ect. ect. M y husband didn't complain. He went once in awhile to meetings even. He didn't believe it all and wasn't a spiritual person, but he thought it was a good religion anyway. I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE NOT OPPOSING YOUR WIFE. II'll tell you why. If you did it will make her cling to the org ever more closely and her chances of waking up lessen. As witnesses we are very paranoid about those used by Satan to try and turn us away from Jehovah. Just reading your posts I'm wondering if you'll not one day become a JW. Its obvious to me that you've been very influenced by the org and have already been taken in. Its sad because we know where your heading and what your getting yourself into but we can't do much more because your NOT openminded. Your further in than you think. I just want to let you know I don't judge you for that. I can remember being in your place thinking along those same lines. Just remember .... If the time comes, when your limping out of the org and your your feeling dazed, because its tramatic, we're here for you. Because no "worldly person" will really be able to relatre to what your going through and you'll be too embarrased to tell themb anyway. I hope the best to you and your wife.

  Dreams and Recovery Issues

  the subject of dreams has been talked about frequently as part of the recovery process when something traumatic or life altering happens.. i just thought it might be of interest to share the path of my dreams over the last year, to those who may be going thru leaving the organization.. all my life i had the armeggedon dreams, but i was always safe.

  when i left the borg, i still had the armeggedon dreams but this time i didnt make it.

  and i was responsible for my family too.

  What a good post. I had nightmares while I was a JW. I dreamt on several occassions about smoking (I was once mildly disiplined shortly after baptism because I smoked a cigarette.) In my dream I would think ,Oh crap, I have to go to the elders and tell them that I screwed up again and this time I'll get disfellowshipped. It was an awful feeling. I'd wake up and feel so relieved that I didn't really smoke, it was just a dream. I had dreams about armagedon as well, especially when I missed a few meetings in a row. I don't have nightmares anymore about the org. JURS

  You'll never understand whhy we feel the way we do because your too new to and not really part of the JW scene. You said it backfired on your friend at work that he sent you here. How dso? He's only trying to help you. I think your going to be one of the sorts that has to learn the hard way and after throwing years of your life down the toilet. It doesn't matter to me one bit what you believe or how you live your life this site is for people who want to share their experiences (some are incredibly painful) express their anger to those who know exactly how they feel(You wouldn't understand that) and share info ect. One day if you dedicate yourself to the org and having been it for awhile(because it takes awhile to see the warts) you may find yourself here feeling a wee bit differently. Anyway glad you stopped by. Somethings that have been written you may one day be able to relate too.

  Are you afraid to die?

  i was about 12 years old when this happened, but i remember it like it was yesterday.

  it was a late evening and i was by myself in our home.

  i grew up in a country home far from most any thing.

  I've always been a little afraid of dying. When I was a witness it was even more pronounced. I think because the subject was always in front of my face. I was afraid to die when I was a JW because I wasn't quite sure I would make it into the new system. I didn't like meetings or studying my watchtower or KM. Now I am afraid because I don't want to leave my kids , the earth, and not really knowing what happens. jurs

  wanted to drop in and say hello.

  i was recently given the diagnosis of bipolar after an almost successful suicide attempt.

  i am getting ready to press charges against my stepdad for sexual abuse when i was younger.

  Hi TEX,

  My mother suffers from manic depression as well as having a personality disorder. I understand that bi polar and manic depression are similar and often one is misdiagnosed as the other. My mother and I have been estranged on and off most of my adult life. My childhood was total HELL.. LyinEyes............ scenes like the one you experienced were common in my household. My throat feels tight and I'm typing and crying just thinking about it. I've hated mental illlness and I'm ashamed to say I hated my mother for having it. I'm scared too death that I'll get it or that I even have it but don't know it. Not so long ago I met a lady I went to school who had Bi Polar. We hit it off. She's a wonderful , witty woman who has helped me see mental illness in a new way. She gave me a book written by Patty Duke called "Brilliant Madness". It was sooooooooo good. Hugs to you Tex....
