Hey Double Edge,

One way you can get a straight answer is to ask a JW child. They know all about "worldly" people and are no strangers to the definition. You'll likely here that worldly people are bad association and will be destroyed. That JW child will probably also let you know that other churches don't worship Jehovah and are part of Satan's sysyem of things.

The kids usually lay it out pretty straight. I would cringe when my kids would tell someone that they were going to be destroyed. if they weren't JW's. I liked to back peddle those issues too. I knew they wouldn't come into the " truth" if I were so blunt so i thought tact ( evasiveness )was the way to handle sticky questions.

i was considering revealing my identity soon, but had a thought.

although i'm not active, i am well respected by my family and the witnesses from my past.

perhaps i could do more good for my family/friends and massive damage to the wt if i was to become active again.

I really doubt that any one of us could do massive damage to the org by being active. When I was in Japan it seemed like most people were buddists. I saw some christian churches but no kingdom halls. I'm sure there are witnesses there but I doubt very many. The japanese seemed religous tolerant to me .

Have you been to Japan before? Something I thought about when I was there is how alike the Japanese are to the Jehovah Witness ideal. In general , they dress like witnesses. The men wear suits and many women are in dresses, Its clean!! Here lies one of the biggest cities in the world (Tokoyo) and you'll not find any litter in the subways or trains. The Japenese seem quite obedient to laws and authorities. Threre is hardly any crime. Its completely safe for anyone to wander around anytime!

I think you should just enjoy your freedom from the org and get to know the Japanese culture rather than waste your time on a cult started in the US.

I think the no list rule was done because the JW's are paranoid. Everyone is out to get them . Its either Satan and his Demons are after you or the Government, or those that left the org that are called "apostates" or "worldly people. Everyone is out to get the JW's. Teachers are oftened blamed for trying to lure young ones away ect. ect. Their soooooooo paranoid!

they asked "what do you mean and where did you hear that".

Your friend is NOT ignorant and is playing you!!!! Things like that tick me off whereas witnesses are concerned. He knows darn well that your considered "worldly" . Hmmmmm maybe Bill Clinton studied with JW's. Tiptoing and being evasive about hardhitting questions!!! Ask your friend again the same question and remind him that Jehovah hates liars!!!

Perhaps someone out there knows if this is a common JW paranoia. Once a sister in my hall was going to have a baby. Because she wasn't in the "click" no one offered to give her a baby shower. She was upset and told people , including myself she was hurt, so I gave the baby shower. I should point out that I had recently moved into this hall and barely knew this sister. She had been a JW all her life and had been at this hall for a long time but yet no one would have this shower or offered to help me when I said I'd do it.

I brought the invitations to the hall to give out. I'm told I can't do it but I can give out invitations in the parking lot. So I wait for sisters outside to give them invitations and an elders wife tells me I shouldn't even give them out in the parking lot, even though its for everyone and just JW's! Some garbage about how its not kingdom hall related. Sheesh!! So I call this same elders wife and ask her for a list of all the people in our hall so I can mail invitations, I'm new at this hall and I don't know peoples names. SHE WOULDN"T GIVE IT TO ME. Because Now Get This................... If and when authorities come after the elders ro kill them or inprison them she didn't want a" list "around of people who are Jehovah's Witnesses. She didn't think I should have a list either of the JW's , just in case in gets into the wrong hands! I told her that I'd throw the "list" away after I wrote out invitations. I can't remember now if she gave me a list of names or not or if someone else helped me. I just remember thinking what a pain in the butt she was.

Has anyone else ever had a similar experience?

My husband has an account there and goes on buisness. I went along. I don't know any Japanese witnesses. I'm not certain, but I don't think there are many JW's there.
