Hi donny
"the Society is still the closest to God that he has ever seen."
He's never seen God, so he really has nothing to compare.
when i left the witnesses in 1992 after ten years in the orgainzation, i got as far away from the teachings and mindest as i could.
however some, like my former brother-in-law, also left, but are intent on finding ways to reform the society from within since he believes in the society as being of god, but that it has become misguided and is slowly drifting to "christendom" status.
one of the things he cites as evidence is the wtbts become aligned with the united nations.

i have come to the conclusion that jws who are following wt and the teachings of men are doing so because they are somehow incapable of making their own decisions.
is it because they are afraid of being responsible for their own actions and their own decisions in life?
do they see the wt as some sort of safe comfortable womb?
I was watching a TV show that showcased women in prison, and one young woman was in jail because her husband told her to go out and find him a victim to rob.
She did this, following the husbands orders. The husband wound up killing the victim during the robbery.
Guess what, the woman is pulling time because she choose to follow the wrong advise. She was judged according to her own deeds.
And that's the way God works.

I lifted this from another thread, it's a piece written by the WTS and it reads:
Watchtower April 1, 1988 pages 30-31
The Wisest Choice
Jehovah does not expect us to show blind credulity. He does not want from us the kind of obedience that a trainer gets from a beast with a bridle or a whip. That is why he told David: “Do not make yourselves like a horse or mule without understanding, whose spiritedness is to be curbed even by bridle or halter.” (Psalm 32:9) Rather, Jehovah has endowed us with thinking ability and discernment so that, based on understanding, we can choose to obey him.
Rank and file need to know that they "will" be held accountable no one else . Wake up!!!!!
Stop saying that if the WTS lead you wrong, your off the hook , you are not off the hook.

Lord have mercy,
At the bottom of the KM they talk about the Sept 1, 2010 WT and they mention 1 john 4:1 "Test the inspired expression to see whether they originate with God."
We "have" tested every last one of their false prophesies, and we used dueteronomy 18:21-22 to test them by, and they do not originate with God.
Question: Scince the GB say they are not inspired, does that mean the rank and file have no need to test?

Thanks foykc !!!
most of us here know what a hypocritical, backstabbing bunch of gossips many of the jw's tend to be.
far too often, a jw wont tell you to your face what's eating them, but they'll sure tell others.
when i started waking up (the second time around) this made me very paranoid.
Vampire again welcome to the board,
The rumor mill had it that i left because i wanted to do" wrong", but that's what they say about everyone who sees the WTS for what it is.
There was one elders wife in the congregation, that constantly told things on people that weren't true and for some reason she never got called to the back to be counseled.
When you're in a cult that encourages spying on one another, rumors , gossip and lies run rampant, those KH's are a snake pits full of vipers.

Thanks for the link CoCo

I heard that very same statement from a brother, that if he was wrong God would punish the one who led him wrong.
Maybe so, but i never seen a scripture that stated a church or group would be held responsible for the individual. The
Bible has always read that we each would be jugde according to our own deeds, so i'm thinking, if you know your being
led wrong and you choose to do wrong that punishment is on you. Just a thought
...last night i had a conversation with mom about being inactive.
i knew it was coming since i haven't seen them for a little while and they came to visit for a few weeks.
well, last night was the meeting... and of course, her husband goes, she doesn't (due to abuse in her childhood involving sra within the kh in another country), and asked if i was going.
Keep your head up soldier,
and remind your mom in a loving way that you would not want her to be in a situation that is abusive and mistrusting,
and that you know she would'nt want you in that situation either.
who are the false prophets today.
by barbara anderson.
in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.
