Yes, Smiddy3, in the past couple of years, I have received two such letters. But, the ironic thing about them is, that they were written by a couple---a husband and wife---who I once knew, when I was associated with JWs. ---I recognize their first names that they have signed the letter with. Little do they know that their letter/envelope was in the mailbox of a person who is now a fader.....Oh, well. Best Regards, Everyone---Titch.

I can remember, back in the mid-70s, an article in "Awake" Magazine, relating the life experiences of a Witness who had been, at one time, a professional football-playing athlete. I don't recall what professional team that he had played for. I think it was the Cleveland Browns, but I could be wrong on that. At any rate, he came into contact with JWs, studied, and got baptized. The "clincher" for me, was that, he was appointed as an "Elder" after only about 2 years of being associated with the Witnesses. Sheesh! Two years? TWO YEARS??? You have got to be joking! Two years, and appointed as an Elder, or Overseer? An Overseer was supposed to be a "spiritually older man." And, two years of association was considered "spiritually older" and experienced? It just proved to me, in my mind, that the title of "Elder" was just that....a title. Oh, well. Best Regards to all.....Titch.

Did You Miss Playing Sports?
by Sea Breeze inhow many of you missed playing sports in school?
the wt was merely trying to keep us from committing suicide.... how loving.take a look at this fear mongering :problems with sports today - g91 8/22 p. 5. .
"people used to argue that sports were of value because they built character.... such arguments sound hollow, even hypocritical.. .

Well, I don't think that I can say that I "missed" playing sports, when I was in junior high school or high school. A better question would be..."Do you REGRET not playing any sports while in school?" And, in answer to that I would say...NO. I don't regret not playing sports, while in school. I really don't You see, "sports", "athletic activities" were not important things in my life while growing up. They really weren't. I had classmates who were friends, who were student-athletes, who played football, basketball, track and field and other activities. And, I went to football games, or basketball games, etc, to watch the games. But, I don't regret not being part of the high school sports teams. I just don't. Best Regards, Everyone.....Titch.

Greetings, all: You know, something that I've wondered about for a long time. If---and I do mean IF---extra-terrestrial beings are discovered, or, they somehow reveal themselves to us Earth inhabitants.....What makes Evangelical people THINK that they, the extra-terrestrials, NEED to be preached to? What makes them think that? Supposing---just supposing----that they, the ETs, have a better understanding and knowledge of the origin of the Universe, and, of a creator, than we have. And that we, human beings, Earthly beings, need to be "preached" to, or, instructed? I wonder about that. Best Regards.

GB 2021 Update #10 - "get vaccinated"
by neat blue dog inam the turd comes the closest to just coming right out and telling jws they have to do it.
he says, 'there's no need to worry, just keep doing what works: wear masks, wash your hands and get vaccinated when possible'.

Greetings To Everyone: On a related side-note....Some of you might be familiar with a TV Evangelistic network, known as Daystar. (Here in Southern California, it is aired on Channel 50.3.) That network was started by Marcus and Joni Lamb; and, for the past year or so, they have become a very vocal anti-vaccination "spokesperson." I will sometimes surf through the TV stations, and watch this channel, but for only a few minutes. Well, last night, I came across it, and it was airing a special presentation, entitled "Marcus Lamb Memorial Service." Huh? What's up with that? I wondered. Yep, they were having a "memorial service" for none other than Marcus Lamb. So, I did some Internet research this morning, and found out that Mr. Marcus Lamb passed away from complications of...well, you guessed it...COVID-19. In late November. Now, Mr. Lamb had some underlying health issues, such as diabetes. And, he was, age-wise, north of 60. (He was 64) And, he refused to get any vaccination. So, when he contracted COVID, he had those underlying health conditions that might have contributed to his demise. But, what I found to be ironic is that here was a TV Evangelist, who was actively "preaching" against the COVID vaccinations, on his TV network, and what does he demise from? That's right...COVID-19. What was further interesting, is that when he went into a hospital for treatment, his son, Jonathan Lamb, made the statement, that it was "the enemy" who had brought the COVID virus upon his father. (Oh, yeah, "the enemy", eh? Satan, perhaps?) Now, by writing this, I am NOT trying to convince anyone as to whether they should or should not, get a vaccination shot. It's your own decision. But, still, the irony of the issue is there, in the form of Mr. Marcus Lamb and his circumstances. Best Regards......Titch.

Mop and Bucket: A JW minister and Three Incidents
by Terry inthree incidents (from my youth).
in 1972 i had a glorious job as a janitor cleaning fort worth's largest newspaper offices at the star-telegram for $1.60 an hour in the wee hours (midnight to 8 am).. (hold your applause till the end, please).. .
yes - i was still a jehovah's witness and yes - we young full-time ministers accepted any part-time employment such as mine to survive until 1975 (when the, um, end of human existence would occur; according to watchtower magazine leaders.).

endAll of this thread reminds me of something that a Congregation Overseer (a Presiding Overseer, at one time) said at a Book Study, that he visited. He expressed the idea that at Armageddon, god would use "anti-matter" to destroy the wicked that would have to be destroyed. The thought is that "anti-matter", when it comes into contact with "matter"---well, they destroy each other. Poof! Both are gone. At that time, I thought, Well, if god will use anti-matter to destroy matter---physical human beings---then why would billions of human carcasses be strewn from one end of the Earth to the other end? Wouldn't all of that be taken care of by the "anti-matter/matter" situation? Oh, well...just my thoughts. Best Regards.....Titch.

Back in 1960s, there was a radio talk-show host, here in the Los Angeles area, named Joe Pyne. One of his insults for those who he disagreed with was "Go gargle with razor blades."
