Beat me to it, Black Sheep. That line jumped out at me too and was about to post that WT quote. How does he wiggle out of that one, or the WTBS for that matter?
Worried, thanks for posting...very interesting. And welcome.
i just found a danish article in "jyllands posten" (yea, the ones who printed drawings of muhammed once).
i hope that my translation is ok, otherwise, please tell me if there is somewhere you dont understand it.. .
jehovahs witnesses to be investigatedmembers are encouraged by the leaders, to cease contact with those leaving the society.. .

wouldn't a loud voice from heaven asking for a show of hands pretty much do away with the need for the preaching/evangelizing work?.
why is this a stupid question?.
no, seriously!.
Before voting, I'd ask that God why he made our ass the perfect height for kicking.
so get this...this is one strange occurrence that almost ended in awkward disaster.
so i took the week off from work to do some home reno projects.
this morning i was doing some yard work and just finished mowing the front yard.
Good points, Band. Regardless if it is the Dubs, Heart & Stroke foundation, girl guides, bottle drives...I've always felt its kinda presumptuous and discourteous to come on someone's property, knock on their door and ask for something in return.
Curious, speaking of legal questions....IF I had waltzed down the stairs and that little girl got flashed by me because I had left my front door open, could there be legal action for indecent exposure?
when does a scientific perspective become as tenuous as a religious one?.
light the blue touch paper and stand well back............... i know there are some historic threads but it would be interesting see the views of the current (overlapping) generation of jwners.. btw just leaving the office be back in about an hour.
.
I see it like this: we only know that we evolved and we are here, the how's of the starting process we do not yet know. We also know there is a universe, the how's and why's we do not yet know. Faith has nothing to do with saying you do not yet know.
There have been some scenarios presented for abiogenesis, but so far they are only hypotheses. But with discoveries like the following it doesn't require a leap of faith to consider it plausible.
- the amino acid glycine, a fundamental building block of proteins, has been found in a comets
- Biologists create self-replicating RNA molecule
i spoke with my mother, told her everything, my doubts, my fears, my sins.
it came rushing out.
my mother is devastated.
Congratulations...your strength of character is showing. Andy Dufresne says bask in the freedom...
i was inspired by a recent thread i know i aint gunna crumble the wt, but a girl can dream to look at the effect we as individuals are having on the watchtower society.. 3dogs1husband quoted a story to show that even helping only one person is worth it.. it is encouraging to note that the one person you may have helped has lead to millions being helped, due to the power of compounding growth.. compounding growth is well illustrated by the rice on a chessboard problem.
if you start with 1 grain of rice on square one, and double it to 2 on the second, 4 on the third, 8 on the fourth, by the last (64th) square there would be 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 grains of rice.. likewise, if you help one person out of the grip of the watchtower this year, then next year you help one more and they help one, in a few years that is going to have a formidable result on the number of jehovahs witnesses.
look at the following statistics.
I recall this phrase was consistently used like a slogan in 80s/90s: "and he will speed it up in his own time"
Can anyone confirm whether they still use this saying frequently? I haven't noticed in their WT as much. Perhaps starting to de-emphasive the numbers growth?
after a few beers and a bottle of french wine (2007 cote du rhone) i'm having myself some "ron zacapa centenario solera reserva".
but that's probably because i spent a lot of time in latin america.
i guess you gringos are more into whiskey?
Whisky of course. Favorites ryes would be Gibson's 18-yr, Crown...or even Gibson's 12-yr.
Scotch: Oban wins by a few body lengths. Then there's Auchentoshan, Talisker....and good 'ol Glenlivet 12-yr. (gotta be single malt)
where does the urge to convert people to ones own view come from?.
i grew up a jehovah's witness and jehovah's witnesses are always right.
that's where i learned to always be right and it took me years to realize that i could also "agree to disagree", although i still often forget about this.
unshackled, have a 25 year old zacapa "centenario" and you'll know you are wrong.. ;)
Hofer, I'll gladly put this to the test to be proven wrong. When you pouring? Or will that 15-yr-old zacapa you're drinking do it?
i am just curious if you guys left jw's and now worship in some other relgion or worship in your own way?
have you sworn off organized religion ?
if you have not sworn off organized religion then i wonder what relgion seems to be the right one for you guys?
Polyatheist and also don't collect stamps.

unshackled, mixing rum is an absolute no-go!
Hofer...haha, but you can see what I mean right there. Actually I was going to type "rye and coke" but rye is a fav and mixing with pop is a no-go! So picked rum, which I don't care about.
"You like rum? Rye is way better."
