Hmmm, I didn't have responsibilities (being a girl!) but I tried to pioneer & worked part-time & so never had the time or money to go travelling. Now I am married with a toddler & busy with uni - but I'll get there one day!

Did your responsibilities in the congregation prevent you from travelling?
by truthseeker inif you were a ministerial servant, or an elder, did your congregational responsibilities hurt your travel plans?
did you go to the meeting instead of going out with other witnesses for a vacation?.
did you say, "i'm taking out the group" or "i'm doing the sound" ?.

EvilForce, that book sounds like a great idea!
I agree with Frog, it's never too late to go to uni - quite a few of my friends at uni are in their 40s and 50s, and one lady is almost 70 & loving it & getting great marks!

I just turned in my master's thesis
by ChrisVance inafter working on it for a year.
now the judicial comittee thesis committee has two weeks to decide if it's good enough.
if not i don't graduate until they say it's good enough.

Hi Chris! Good luck! I'm handing in my honours thesis in 3 weeks - keep me in your thoughts, too, cos the mark I get determines whether I can do a PhD or not!!

I'm more interested in the Bible now that I believe it isn't inspired (?!)
by GetBusyLiving ini downloaded a ton of 'the teaching company' lectures on the formation of christianity and the gnostics, and have been reading books on the creation of the bible for the past six months or so.
if you havent looked into this stuff already, i'm telling ya it is some really facinating stuff.
are you at all like me and have become more interested in the bible since realizing it isn't inspired??

GBL, what is the Teaching Company, & could you write my next essay for me?!!

True Funny WW2 Experience
by JW83 inthis is taken from daily telegraph, sydney, 22.9.42, after a convention had not been allowed to go ahead.
mrs inez stoop, a jws tract distributor, said yesterday: 'do not ask me why the conference was not held.
you are from a newspaper, and all newspapers and their reporters are of the devil.
-
JW83
Actually, sorry to mislead you guys - I don't know whether it actually appeared in the newspaper, cos I got it from the censors, who may or may not have passed it for publication.

"I prayed for you"
by Scully inif you aren't a "believer", does it bother you when someone says "i'll pray for you" or "i prayed for you"?.
one of my colleagues is an incredibly kind and sweet person, and i know she says it because she believes she's doing something good on my behalf.
i always say "thank you for thinking of me", because i know that's the spirit she's intending to convey and that she cares about the situation i'm in vis-a-vis my jw relatives, but she knows i no longer believe in god (at least not in the sense that she does) - i wonder does she think that a few prayers are going to change my mind?
-
JW83
LOL at Terry!
Scully, I find it really offensive, mainly because as an ex-dub, I've also been arrogant & prissy & just plain annoying!
My mother-in-law sent me a prayer card when my parents were shunning me (she is Catholic). I knew she had good intentions, but it was very condescending, particularly since I am AGNOSTIC and of the GODLESS LEFT!! Thank you people - don't pray for me!!
