  hey, just thought i'd let you guys know that i have been accepted to present a conference paper based (once again) on the banning of jws in australia during ww2.

  it is at a history/law conference at university of tasmania in december, if anyone is interested

  I just wanted to say that Anna's mum, I'm sorry that you found being a JW restrictive and painful experience for you. But I have been a JW since age 2...and although there have been times I felt a bit smothered I have always come back. I fully belive the teachings of the bible, if I dont belive in something that has been taught I will research it myself in the bible to make sure, and so far, I have never found anything that didnt add up. I'm sorry that you had such a rotten time, as it sounds like you did, but you cant say that everyone is bad because a few people were harsh.
  
  Its like saying that all men are murderers because 1% are.......
  
  I agree that it is not enouraged to have friends outside of the religion, as it can cause hardship on both because of different faiths. But if you do have friends of different faiths you wont get into trouble for it either.

  Are these people just fringe-dwellers, or do they really not get the sense of their own religion??!!!

  Parents Getting Separated

  i haven't posted in quite a while, hope you all are doing decent.

  well, the shitbag watchtower snake is back just when things were getting good.

  my mom and dad are getting seperated now because a couple of elders told my still active dad it was a good idea since she has apostate "leanings".

  i wonder if the act of shunning someone you love actually strengthens your resolve that you're following the "right" course.

  I shunned my best friend for a while on and off, and didn't attend her wedding. I am so ashamed that I did this & it definitely made me feel upset at the time, not self-righteous at all, although the explanations I gave her were very self-righteous

  although i love my parents, very often they lie to try to get out of a jam.

  then they have to lie again to cover the first lie.

  and often for really stupid reasons, they will lie instead of saying the truth and being direct.

  No, never - to my detriment, I think - I can't even do the social lies that are necessary at work to make everyone think you are fantastic and amazing. Way too honest for my own good

  JWs and Nazis in WW II

  i know there is considerable info on jws and the nazis during wwii.

  i happen to be reading a book on "auschwitz" and other nazi death camps.

  i wasn't looking for this but found it interesting.. heidrich himmler (sp) (i believe he was hitler's #1 death-camp officer) thought using jws for servants in the living quarters of the german ss troops manning the camps was a good idea.

  I read a great book by Margarete Buber, 'Under Two Dictators', in which she criticised the female Jehovah's Witnesses she was in the camps with severely for being naive, stubborn & self-interested. From recollection, Buber was not a Jew but was a communist who was imprisoned by both the Nazis & the Russians.

  The fact is, friends, there is no mention of "ice" in the Bible and the only mention of "age" refers to people who lived to be 900 years old.
